I am thrilled she is back at the spa because she provides the most therapeutic facial experience with skilled face & neck massage along with the perfect blend of cleansers, masks, and lotion to rejuvenate the skin. I can't get a facial anywhere else now because I'll be disappointed. My skin always responds well to her customization (depending on problem areas, season, age etc) and the entire environment is inviting, relaxing, and professional. Molly was also recently able to fit my sister in for an appointment before her wedding day to do an eye brow wax. My sister was thrilled with the results and the entire waxing apt was in a calming and private environment which isn't always the case other places for eyebrow waxing. Wow I cannot express my gratitude to Michelle the Soft Shell owner continuing to do massages on the front sidewalk despite the smoke! I had a pinched muscle in my shoulder that hurt so bad and walked by and an hour later was laying on her very comfortable table and getting the help I so needed! Michelle is a very talented and caring massage therapist and I felt so much better when I left and the next day. I highly recommend her and just from talking I found she's cares about her clients and the community she works in. I have been to Soft Shell on 4-5 separate occasions in the past year and have had a tremendous experience each time. All of my visits have been for a deep tissue massage as I experience frequent pain in my wrist/elbow and shoulder areas. Every massage therapist I have gotten was very friendly and skilled in making my pain go away. I saw Steven on my last visit and he did a great job massaging the nerve pain in my left elbow that I received surgery on a few months ago. According to my last review, I was here 7yrs ago or so. This is probably the only place I'll ever go for massages. The staff is always super friendly, everything is clean, and it smells GREAT in there. About three years ago my husband threw out his back pretty severely and they were able to get him in almost immediately. He walked in barely able to stand up straight but after Michelle worked on him he was feeling less pain and walking a bit straighter. Today my husband and I returned for massages as his birthday gift and the customer service is still as great as ever. I believe our masseuse's name was Annalise, and we both felt so refreshed afterwards. We had to schedule them back to back but I'll always think it's worth the wait. The lady working the front desk must have read my mind because I've been wanting to get a facial lately and they happened to have an esthetician available and she asked if I wanted to maybe get a facial while I waited for my massage. I went for it, and it was probably one of the most relaxing facials I've had in a while. I can't remember her name, but she's from Hungary and was so so incredibly sweet. I was shopping here last Tuesday evening. I had both hands full of items that I was going to purchase for my friend's birthday. I was approached by one of the employees who I believe was an esthetician. She walked up to me, literally ripping the items out of my hands. Although I didn't get all the services I wanted due to Covid 19 precautions, the staff was very helpful in trying to accommodate our needs. My MT, Hilary was wonderful and focused a lot, so grateful, on head/scalp/neck. I wish I could've had 90 min as originally planned, but the 60 minute I got was wonderful. My cousin got a glycolic peel facial and was very satisfied. I have been going to softshell for years and every time is usually pretty great but my experience yesterday was really disappointing. I showed up 5 minutes early to my appointment, checked in and was told they would take me back at 4pm (time of my appointment). Around 4:07 the front desk ask my name again and told me they forgot to tell my massage therapist I was here, no worries I get that happens sometimes even though they were not busy I understood. I got taken back at 4:10 with my massage beginning around 4:15 and when I was done I checked the time it was 4:59. So not only did I get taken back late but my massage was also cut about 15 minutes short which was really disappointing. I was late I would have totally understood but being early and then having a mix up happen on their end, they should have made sure I got my full time that I paid for. Massage was good but my massage therapist did come in eating and was smacking her lips for the first 5 minutes of the massage which was also not relaxing so just overall not a great experience. read more

This is a late review....but based on experiences since then I am leaving it anyway. I had my first ever massage here in 2009. It was amazing. The bed was comfortable and warm, and the masseuse was incredible. I didn't realize it at the time though. Since then I've gotten a few other massages and have always been disappointed. The room was cold, or the masseuse wasn't good, or talked to me the whole time...I basically gave up on getting a massage again because it has seemed a waste of money more often than not. Now that I'm back in the bay I would definitely consider coming back to Soft Shell. I just hope it will be as good as I remember... read more

I honestly didn't love it here. As soon as I walked in the vibe was off as the girl behind the counter didn't even acknowledge that I walked in. I had to speak up that I had an appointment, from there she still was not friendly. During my facial, the woman was not wearing a mask and was in extremely close proximity to me (obviously not wearing a mask because it's a facial) and I felt like that was not professional/ respectful. In addition, the products being used were not premium products: everything I saw in there was basic items you can purchase from Ulta yourself for under $100. I believe only 3-4 products were used during my 1 hour session and my skin looked exact the same coming out as it did going.... When I've had facials in the past I usually see a nice glow but that was not the case here. Overall felt like I wasted money for a crap experience. I don't recommend coming here but only leaving 3 stars because the woman giving the facial was a great conversationalist and I found her to be pretty funny. read more
