Made an appointment for 5:30 pm didn't get serviced until 5:40 . It's only two of them and they were already working on two people so I'll give them grace. Wanted a pedicure and the water was very cold , not warmed at all, service wasn't terrible but wasn't the best . Others were greeted immediately upon entering , where as I was ignored until I said something . Maybe I should have spoken up as soon as I walked in but I didn't want to interrupt the conversations they were having with the guests they were working on. Nail shaping and cleanup was great!! Water was just super cold , again I could have said somthing but my social anxiety said no. Cindy has done an amazing job revamping this nail salon! The chairs are comfortable and work well and the color selection is excellent. The ambiance is pleasant--lighting and decor are fresh and clean, adding an extra layer of comfort. Here, you will not be bombarded by televisions-- you can actually relax and enjoy a conversation or the feel of warm water between your toes. I usually go here for pedicures, although I witnessed several customers getting manicures. On the weekends, it's best to make an appointment. My pedicure was terrific from start to finish with great attention to detail. There was even one toenail that was torn, and the technician offered to apply a layer of acrylic to it so the nail could repair itself. She did an excellent job, and the cost was quite minimal. The leg massage was excellent and very soothing. No sense of rushing at all. If you've never been here before, you might drive right past it as Google maps makes it seem like it's in the larger shopping center behind it. It actually shares a parking lot with Mancinis Sleepworld and Jersey Mike's, so it's the first R turn (coming from downtown Petaluma) after the East Washington/South McDowell intersection. I got dip powder on my finger nails 2 weeks ago. On the day I got my nails done, one of my nails broke. It snapped because they only put two coats of dip power on each nail which meant the nails were extremely thin and fragile. There was also no top coat powder put on before the colored powder which I thought was really weird since that is put on in every other salon I have ever been to. I went back to have my nail fixed the next day .. this time a different woman (slightly older) was there and she told me that I hadn't got my nails done in that salon because they didn't have the color match to my nails. I repeated multiple times that I had but she kept insinuating that I was lying. I showed her my transaction on my bank statement which clearly said too nails and I described to her what she was wearing the day before. It was hugely awkward and embarrassing and then she apologized and said oh I remember you but at that point I was already over this situation and the awful experience I just had. Since then two other nails have snapped off. I would never return to this salon. They don't know how to do dip powder correctly. This was $50 plus tip and they lasted less than a day. read more

So disappointed. I hate leaving negative reviews for local businesses but it's only fair to give a heads up to others. Everything about the appt seemed very rushed and careless. Kim was buzzing through cutting my cuticles and I thought she was just a pro but then she cut me. When she was putting on the polish little strands of cotton we're getting on the nails and I had to ask to please remove them. I almost got up and left mid-session but stayed and just stopped looking. The photos are the result. Not horrific but it wasn't an enjoyable experience and I'm not happy with the result. The manicurist dug too far into my toe and made it bleed, and the gel came off 4 toe nails within a week. One of my finger nails had to be redone the next day because the shine came off. Then the acrylic started lifting off 7 out of 10 nails within a couple days and I had to start taking them off within 5 days and they were all off within a week! Do not go here! read more

I desperately needed a pedicure and was excited when I saw Top Nails set up to do nails outdoors! They' have a canopy tent and have all the precautions you would hope for in place. The foot bath was covered in disposable plastic. They have shield barriers they place between the customer and technician. My nail technician wore gloves, a mask and face shield. There were plenty of different colors of polish to choose from too. I also let my technician add painted flowers to my big toes, she did a good job on my toes and feet! Sloppiest gel manicure I've ever received. I have nail polish all over my hands. When I asked if I could get a design, the girl had no idea what I was saying, so I pointed to the glitter instead in hopes that I could add a little sparkle. My nail color is a deep red so I pointed to the gold colored glitter for a nice fall palette, but she said no and grabbed the purple glitter. PURPLE AND RED. Also, she is incredibly kind and friendly. She cares very deeply about her customers. I have had really good experiences here, 90% of the time. I have two hangnails on my toes, and they know how to really get it out without me screaming for mercy. Atmosphere: Nice. They gave this place a facelift two years ago I believe. They took out the carpet, repainted the walls, and added little curtains that seperate each pedicure chair. The pedicure chairs have massagers in them so you can sit back and relax while getting a little massage. The bathroom is fairly clean. They do have a flat screen mounted on the wall. Service: I have had good and bad service here. It's so hit and miss. The manager is always nice, professional, and treats customers well. Her husband (I think?) is generally very nice to me. The other older lady is kinda harsh in her nature. I'm not sure if it is me, whether I catch her on bad days, or she genuinely hates me...but the last encounter I have had with her was not so good. I was getting gel nails as well as a mani pedi. A new girl was doing my pedicure, and then older lady was doing my manicure with gel polish. The gel u-v Light was really hot a few times, and it literally felt like I was going to burn my fingers. So naturally I pulled out. She yelled at me. Twice. The second time around she was really rude and tried shoving my hand back in. I finally snapped at her and said, "It's too hot!" And her reply was, "it is like that at first." And I replied with, "I don't want to burn myself." She didn't listen. It's not suppose to hurt. I'm very displeased with this service, consider that my entire family had been here multiple times, and my stepdad is a regular here. We've been going here for probably 4 or 5 years. You'd think after being regulars, we'd get less rude treatment? : (. Really disappointing. Not sure if I want to come back after this last experience. I have been going to top nails since I was 15, I am now 27. I can say that Top Nails is by far the best, most personal experience you can get in town. Kim and Michael are outstanding! Michael always is so nice when you come in to the shop and pays a lot of detail in any work you need done. Very good at acrylics and dip powder. Kim is awesome too!! She can do many things at once and execute pristinely. I mean do your nails or toes, answer phones and, everything will come out perfectly. She is so much fun and easy to talk to also which makes it an even better experience then silently getting your nails done by a stranger! She remembers everyone's name and the last time you came in The chairs are super comfy and they offer more colors then I've seen anywhere else in Petaluma. I see the reviews about like 'bad jobs' they do or not being able to get a walk in.. I don't think that's fair to say to a family run business. 1)You might not be able to get a walk in because it's the best place and quickest job in town, honestly. 2) you're appointment might go a little late but I've been in there when it's slammed and sometimes you can't ignore people's requests, no matter how picky. I'm only saying this to shed some light from the other side of the table. Someone that will follow every request with a great attitude is hard to find.. and once you're in it's worth the wait. 3) if you don't like your nail job, say something then so they can happily change it! I am picky too and like things a certain way. ;) it's my money for hard work! I've even come in a day later with a chip nail and have always been well taken care of. Plus their pedicures are amazing. I mentioned the chairs but did I mention the actual foot massage?! It's like reflexology and spends a good 5-10 min on every foot. Anyway. I came here for a pedicure and wax. I do have to say the floor is dusty & it doesn't seem like the cleanest facility. My pedicure was subpar at the every best. The wax she did decent on my eyebrows, left a ton of wax residue on my face, got wax in my actual hair all of which I had to get off at home. She said my chin/neck hair was too thick. She tweezed it halfway and then just left it. I assume they didn't have hard wax since I use hard wax to wax my own chin/neck because I have PCOS. She the.
