The prices were reasonable and all the flavors were amazing. Everything tasted fresh and we all feel refreshed and warm afterwords. I cannot stress this enough but the staff was very very friendly and treated us with love and respect.

It's a mom & pop shop so nothing super fancy, but well-kept. 2. Food (4/5) Babagannoush (APP, 5/5) - TAKE. MY. MONEY! Man I love me some good baba and this was exceptional. Velvety with great mouth feel and lovely smokiness this was so good w/ their table bread Turkish Ravioli (Manti) (APP, 3/5) - Chewy little nuggets w. yogurt filling, it was pretty enjoyable though my colleague gave ma "Meh" since she makes them at home and probably has high bar. It was good for maybe the first 3 or 4, so perhaps better ordered for larger groups. Shepherd Salad (APP, 4/5) - Fresh, bright(as in vinegar), and herbaceous, we added feta cheese to it and it was perfect balance to our entree. Kofte Kebab (MAIN, 4/5) - Not too dry with packed flavor of all the herbs & beef, I really enjoyed my dish. Went great with all the other accouterments such as slightly cinged wedge of tomato and onion slices, all frolicking on a bed of warm rice that had a nice bite. Adana Kebap (MAIN, 4/5) - My colleague had this one, and I tried a piece. It was juicy and had no hint of gaminess which is always a plus for lamb. 3. Service (3/5) - This being a mom & pop store, I think they're short on staff. Usually they're all in the back cooking, so you do need to be a bit patient to flag someone down. But I'm sure they're more attentive during busy hours. (We went during weekday) Overall, Hakki Baba is a solid turkish mom & pop shop that delivers on great authentic flavor at a reasonable price. In the sea of turkish restaurants in Cliffside Park area, this one is one of my favorite. Pay them a visit!

During my trip, eating at a Yemeni Restaurant was a must! I'm glad I found this great restaurant…read more Right away I knew it was family owned. The sense community was lovely inside and it was busy but moving. The Saltah dish was delicious!! It was so comforting and made fresh. It was filled with vegetables that were cooked to perfection really. I also had a wrap as well. The amount of food was one area of disappointment. One order wasn't enough for one person. Small portions would have been okay if the price matched it. Ordering two plates to be content was unexpected.

This Yemeni restaurant has rave reviews & yes the food is good- I've just had so much better. This…read moreis conveniently located in Manhattan sure but the "trek" to Little Yemen in the Bronx is 110% worth it because every restaurant I've tried there was better than this one. I will say, the service is great here & the people are quite hospitable. But there was something missing from the main dish, the lamb zurbian. First & foremost, there were way too many onions & most of them were burnt. Caramelized onions or crispy onions are great. But burnt onions? No thank you. Also, the rice was flavorful but overbearing. I will say though, the falafel was great FWIW. Nonetheless, I wouldn't be going back here & instead would go to Little Yemen in the Bronx because it is much better.

After much Yelp research, I picked out Miriam as a weekend brunch destination for someone visiting…read morefrom out-of-town. Also plusses in Miriam's favor were the fact that I could easily make a reservation (they use SevenRooms) and its proximity to the Museum of Natural History. Many of the menu items looked appealing. Two of us ordered the latkes Benedict ($27) which I loved. Instead of Canadian bacon, you're served smoked salmon. And swap out the regular hollandaise for a harissa version. There was also za'atar labneh and a chopped salad with cucumbers and tomatoes on the side, also delectable. The third person ordered the traditional shakshuka ($24) which also earned acclaim. I have to give a thumbs up to the hummus. The hostess was peppy and welcoming. Our server was more scarce towards the end of the meal for some reason, but she was nice, and the busboy seemed cool. While there's outside seating too, it was a zillion degrees so the air conditioned and classy dining room was the right choice for us.

This was not my ideal outcome, as the interior was beautiful, elegant, and cooler temperature wise. Initially, I was planning to order the Lamb Shawarma Terracotta dish, but saw that the restaurant was partaking in Restaurant Week, offering a 3 course meal for $45. For the first course, I decided to go with the choice 3 vegetable appetizers, even though I really wanted bread. I selected Potato Salad, Moroccan Carrot, and Roasted Red Beet. The Potato Salad contained horseradish and pickle. This was quite tasty. Moroccan Carrot was cooked perfectly in flavorful spices. Roasted Red Beet was tender and juicy, with a bit of sweetness from the pomegranate. For the main course, I ordered the NY Strip Steak (came on a skewer) with a side of Majadra Rice. This also came with cucumber tomato salad, but I would've preferred the addition of Pita or Za'atar Laffa instead. The Steak was nicely charred, succulent, and well seasoned. I also enjoyed the Majadra Rice, which was full of lentils and crispy onions with a lovely blend of cumin, coriander, and allspice. I also got to try the Za'atar Fries and these were oh so mouthwatering, delightfully crispy, full of bold flavor. The Fries were truly addicting! The dessert I had was the Kanafe Custard Cups with raspberry, and served warm. This was delectable, lightly sweet, fragrant, and just the right blend of delicate kanafe and velvety smooth custard. Service was pretty good. Our waitress was welcoming and knew the menu well. Prices were decent. I would return to try the Lamb Shawarma Terracotta or Salmon and some of the bread with Labneh Tzatziki.

It came with brine-y olives, a dry seasoning that I assume is za'atar, and olive oil. Our drinks were refreshing. The strawberry lemonana was wonderfully sweet, and the virgin mojito was nicely bubbly. For our mains, we shared the cheese bread, which was so flavorful and gooey, and the kafta, which had a nice blend of smoke, spice, and funk, perhaps coming from the beef and lamb blend. I so enjoyed my dinner there, and I'm determined to return!

When we arrived it was empty however by the time we finished, there were many tables filled. The bad thing is that there was only 1 server during brunch. It took forever to get our check and even a to-go bag for our leftovers. We ordered for apps, the grand mezze dish with all of the different spreads, such as hummus, red pepper, tzatziki, eggplant, wow! It was delicious and to top it off they have homemade pita bread! Which was a huge highlight! Even my baby loved their homemade pita bread! For our mains, we ordered branzino, which was such a small sad piece, literally just half of a filet. Would never order again. We also got the mixed meats which came with kafta, lamb, chicken a few pieces of each, and also this was so sad, the pieces were SO small. And we also got this Fattat Jaj (which is a 6 layer dish with chicken, rice chickpeas). Honestly all of the mains were such a disappointment. Full of rice, not a lot of meat in any of the dishes. Especially the Fattat Jaj, which literally was just rice with a bunch of small crispy pita bread, barely had any chicken. While we really enjoyed the mezze platter, especially the homemade pita bread, all of the mains were SO small and terrible. Full of rice and salad and barely any meats (despite we ordered all meat and fish dishes). Sad portions. Would not return.
