New to Aiken and trying the different BBQ in town. Stopped in for an early lunch and we both ordered the ribs. I would rate the ribs as excellent - they were thick and meaty and well prepared. The ribs came with a light slather of sauce and sauce on the side. I ordered beans and fried okra as a side and both were very good. My wife ordered mac and cheese and the cobbler. The ribs tasted like I had just pulled them off of the grill not like regular baked ribs but grilled ribs, the chicken was so flavorful and even better in a dip of the original shanes bbq sauce, could've kept the chicken tenders but I'm not a tender girl it was just included in the sampler. Side sides sides the potato salad was chunky how I like mine with a bit of a crisp, perfect and the Brunswick stew was meaty and full of flavor just like grandma made hers. Haven't been to a Shane's in years so thought we'd check it out. I ordered the Shack Wrap basket with side salad and fries and hubby got the 3 piece tenders with fries. Went to Shane's rib shack in Aiken, South Carolina and cannot believe how substandard this place is number one. The air-conditioning was not working and the employee told me this happens every summer. I left it at that I ordered ribs since this was my first time in along with the sweet potato fries.Unbeknownst to me when I reviewed my receipt later there was an up charge for the sweet potato fries there was no notice anywhere that said there was an up charge. This is certainly not truth and advertising. Then when I got the ribs, they were so disgusting. I can't believe they would even sell these ribs. I will never be back. They were oily and fatty and nothing like ribs that I would expect. read more

I ordered a salad...the veggies were no where near fresh, It typically comes with toast and there was none, while i was eating i found a curly small hair in my salad, and gave me not even half a container of chicken to put on my salad. I was met by Marlee and she was so helpful and sweet! She gave recommendations and was patient while I decided what I wanted. Got the food to go and it was packaged really nicely. I read the reviews before coming. It seems the reviews are accurate. Unfortunately, this visit fell on the side of mediocre. The service was great! The place was clean. The atmosphere was spot-on. The food, however, was lifeless. The best thing I tasted was the water. The ribs were average at best. The chicken was dry, the sides seemed to have been stored in a refrigerator and reheated upon order. Considering how this place has mixed reviews, I will consider this visit to be on the disappointing side of the table. I will give them another try, though, and see what happens then. read more

Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of cleaning going on continually. Food was cold so I really can't say whether it was good. At best, cold food is mediocre. Ordered the sample plate which consisted of ribs (barely warm and bland), fried chicken tenders ( meat tasted like it had been around for a while and cold), pulled pork ( cool, but had the potential to be good), French fries, cold and not appetizing, toast, cold and soggy. Cole slaw was the only cold thing on the tray and it was very tasty. If I ever try this food again, it will be for take out so I can heat it at home and only order pork products and Cole slaw. I had pickup from there today, 1/29/23, and it was awful. The baked beans had no taste, and the ribs were overcooked. The pull pork was not flavorful, and it too had burnt pieces chopped up inside. The place is hit or miss. I have eaten at the Snellville location many times and it has more misses than hits. BBQ does not need to be burned to be good. Not sure who told you differently. read more

This review is for the Aiken branch. Shane's is competing with three traditional SC barbecue houses in town and they are doing an excellent job. Consistently good pulled pork and tender chunks of pure white breast meat in the chicken plates. Only complaint I have is they seem to have dropped their collard greens from the menu and their online ordering wasn't working today, so I had to call it in. Their greens were a little different than the usual, almost liked creamed collards, but they were very tender and delicious with a little hot pepper vinegar. In my opinion, it's a toss-up in Aiken between Shane's and Pot Smoker's BBQ. I love them both. read more

Twenty five minutes is entirely too long to wait and then there is hardly no fries in our sandwich order. Should be called Shamed. I ordered food online and once picked up and brought home, half the food was missing. I returned to the store and the two young women working up front were very nice and very sweet. A dark haired female with a pink shirt on who said she was working in the kitchen came out to do my refund since they were out of basic salad stuff. She was snarky, rude and overall very unprofessional. I told her that the salad consisted of a handful of wilted lettuce and some slimy cucumbers that they tried to hide with cheese. She told me she made that salad and that is not how it looked. So I made the lettuce wilt and the cucumbers slimy in the 10 mins I was in possession of the salad??? She should be fired for her nasty attitude and her nasty job performance. When I asked what her name was she told me that it was not important. Shane's has the BEST BBQ in Aiken! The people are friendly and polite and have never messed up my order. The ribs fall off the bone, and the pulled pork is tender and juicy like the food on "Man Fire Food" and "Food Paradise". Their house made bbq sauce is great! We visited Shane's last Saturday evening. The barbecue beef was excellent! The cole slaw wasn't fun to eat as the cabbage pieces were rather big. But the baked beans were pretty good. I noticed the chalkboard above the order desk reminded the staff to "SMILE". And they did! Our food was delivered quickly and at a nice temperature. Shane's standard barbeque sauce was nicely spiced with a touch of vinegar to remind us we were in the Carolinas. Will definitely return. read more
