Shake Shack Oceanside was pretty empty. Although there was a register, the ordering process is mostly through kiosk. We chose to dine in. Once we placed the order, we took a number and staff brought the food to the table. In addition to bringing the food , he gave napkins as well. The seating area was clean, antibacterial wipes are available by the condiments. We ordered the Cheese burger with Shack sauce and fries. The burger seemed smaller than usual but tastes the same. The service could not be slower! It seemed like only on Hispanic young man was the only person who knew what to do. Every worker had to refer to him several times in the long wait. I got something they called a boneless rib sandwich, I challenge anyone to find any BBQ sauce on my sandwich. the orange runny stuff was Not BBQ anything! The first indication was the dry strips that fell out of the greasy bag. I asked for burger without cheese, my wife got a patty and bread! How does this place stay open? Like fellow Yelper Kid L mentioned below, everytime I go here I have a completely different experience than what many past reviews have described. It appears that this location has gotten finally their groover after having a bit of a rocky start. I came in yesterday for the 3rd time since writing my initial 5-star review last December, and on each occasion they really hit the mark. The food has been ready fast and comes out super hot. Yesterday I tried their Korean-style burger (ok.. I admit, I got a double) and it was ohh-sooo-good. I even got a side of spicy fries, because let's face it, how can you not. I could go on and on about how good this combo hits but just check out my pictures below this review. I needed to kill some time while in Oceanside, so I dropped into the local ShakeShake. I was initially concerned with the low ratings at this location. Most complaints were focused on service and wait times. While not horrendous, the wait time to get my order was a little longer than other locations. I tried the Spicy ShackMeister because it was new on the menu. It had a nice little kick to it. I also ordered a 10 piece chicken bite, but only received 6 pieces. I brought this to their attention and they quickly gave me a new box of 8 pieces to make up for it. This is good customer service. read more

In a nutshell, a mistake was made on my order. I was given onion rings instead of French fries. Minor mistake. A manager told me I could come back and they would correct the discrepancy. A few weeks later I returned and explained the situation to a manager named, Chris. Chris went above and beyond to remedy the situation, and make sure I felt valued as a loyal customer. Friday night not too crowded around 630pm. Started to pick up as I waited second on the line for over 12 mins. The persons in front me when I asked them politely if they are going to order ran over to commandeer the one cashier for way too long. Bless her heart she laughed and giggled to accommodate them. Meanwhile the line piled up. Moving on to a coworker now placing his dinner order with her and here goes more time and more line. Of course when you go to pay there's an option for tip and I'm going to heaven so I tipped but do they deserve it probably not. Let this be the stepping stone they take with them in life as they move up in the world. Some growing pains for sure as this location is pretty new but I have to say my very first taste of Shake Shack and I really enjoyed it. We came last night around 7pm. The place was busy but not jammed. I ordered the Shack Chicken and french fries. I always order this chicken as I think it's one of the best fried chicken sandwiches out there. Well, I will not order this again at this location -- I may never go back. The fried chicken was greasy, the meat was stringy and tough and the portion was tiny! The bun was bigger than the piece of chicken. The fries were ok but not hot. From the minute I walked in, I knew this was going to be a most positive experience. First off , they open at 10:30, no waiting till 11 for lunch here. Walked in about a few minutes after that, and I was warmly greeted by the friendly cashier. She is enthusiastic and a positive employee for Shake Shack. She convinced me to eat here. The place was spotless and they were playing upbeat music that was not offensive in the least. Food was brought to my table in a reasonable amount of time. My burger was the first one off the grill, hot and juicy prepared as specified. My crinkle fries were delicious and not over salted in the least. Even my Coke Zero was perfect. I've had a completely different experience (positive) than many below me. I've been to the Oceanside location about 6 times since opening. The service is friendly and efficient. The place is bright and spotless with food arriving at my table in a reasonable amount of time. It's not fast food and doesn't taste like it either. The food is delicious. Full stop. I've had it all from the unique shack stack to the chix sammies and shakes... it's all quality and delicious. While the format may be in the same vein as fast food, the quality and taste are not even in the same zip code. The fries are crinkle cut and admittedly on the salty side but not offensive. Reading the reviews below makes me think this is the default destination for people who had a no good, very bad day. Not a fan at all. Disorganized, says take a number and food will be brought over , then you get a text that it's at the pick up window and ready and sitting for 5 minutes. Fries are very soggy, lack any seasoning at all. The burger lacked flavor, and the bun was kind of soggy. The chicken bites has this awful overwhelming flavor, and the shack sauce just tastes like plain mayo. Strawberry lemonade was good. Food is a baby step above fast food without a wide variety. Fries are unseasoned and the burgers lack the same. Twenty employees running around and they still manage to not keep fries ready for orders. A 27 minute wait for one plain cheeseburger and one fries. Ambiance is what you would expect...loud and busy.
