Pretty disappointed with the service here. We ordered through the kiosk inside and we expected our order to be flawless. Let's just say that it was anything but. My brother asked for no tomatoes and they put extra tomatoes on his sandwich. They also forgot the lettuce on my dad's burger. On top of it, the special drink my dad ordered was supposed to be an Arnold Palmer but the one he recieved was just plain lemonade. This shack gets a four because of the employees. Shout out to the staff here for having an understanding that milkshakes are supposed to be thick. I don't like warm milk when it comes to a milkshake and that's what I got when I ordered a banana pudding milkshake and some fried pickles from this location. I immediately went and ask for a replacement and let them know how the shake was made for me and the girl who took care of the situation understood the assignment immediately and fixed it. After that it was smooth and creamy more importantly COLD! Yes Honey I became a happy customer. Now about those pickles. Yes they were good, but not with that no frill tasting ranch they served it with. I don't come to this shake shack often because it's usually super packed on nice days or weekends when I am around! We decided to eat here after my daughters appointment and it was nice and quiet on a Monday, around 1:30pm. They have iPads where you can order your food and someone on standby to help if you have questions or he was also there explaining what we had to do. Order your food, if you're dining in, take a number and mark it next to your name when placing the order, pay and find a seat. When your food is ready, they will bring you your order. Our food came within 5 minutes of waiting- burger was nice and hot, fries were nice and crispy and shake was so so good. It was also fun sitting by the window seat with no crowds around. read more

Although there are plenty of options to eat in Dumbo, I find that this Shake Shack location, which is open until 11pm on weekends, is a great choice if you're in a group as there is something for everyone. There are kiosks available at the entrance and someone at the pick-up counter who will yell our your name or number. There are also plenty of seating available, with beautiful views of the bridge and waterfront. On my last visit, I ordered the ChickenShack ($8.59), which had a tangy buttermilk herb mayo with lettuce and pickles. I wish the buns were more toasted and wasn't put in that white wrap. I think it makes the buns more soggy. The fries were also pretty soggy but overall the taste was great. I think the burger isn't very cohesive in terms of taste though, it's not that balanced and you can definitely taste the meat more than anything else. When we arrived there was quite a few people waiting outside by the entrance. There was a window for pick ups (but, at the time we didn't realize that's where you picked up mobile orders. We actually went in to get our food). There is someone who takes orders on the tablet and you are allowed to wait inside the restaurant for your food. My order was ready to go but, we had to wait for Charsie's food. We waited for maybe 15ish minutes and someone bought her food directly to her. The staff was friendly and efficient. I have eaten at Shake Shack before but, this was my first time getting onions on my sandwich. Personally, I found the onions overpowering but, I caramelized the onions for the second sandwich and added only a small amount and found it delicious. I like the food here, but I think this location's getting lazy. First of all, this is a full-fledged location with a pretty spacious indoor dining area, but they don't offer bathrooms to the customers. With many tourists here, it may be some work to clean the bathrooms, but come on. I think a well established place like this needs to have a bathroom. I saw a lot of places closing off the restroom for guests at the height of the pandemic, but I think it's about time they open again. Another negative is the service - the place was understaffed with only one cashier and another person assisting with bringing out the food. This was around 9 pm on a weekday, when the place is still pretty busy with like 7+ groups of guests waiting for their food at all times. I came in with a group of friends and my order wasn't registered in the system so I had to reorder again after waiting around for 30 minutes. They also got my friends' orders wrong. The workers seemed to be maintaining their mood as best as they can but they were clearly exhausted and didn't have any more energy left to be friendly. A staff member did come to sweep the floor and clear but not wipe down the surrounding tables, but that was halfway into our meal -- maybe 25 minutes into our visit. Our food was frenetically made. Both of our burgers were slightly burnt. The bacon in my Shack Burger was severely over-salted. My SO explicitly requested Shack Sauce for her hamburger, but none came with it. The team operating this location seems to need more help to properly serve high customer volume. This location has free Wi-Fi provided by the DUMBO BID, but not provided by Shake Shack. It was difficult to connect to DUMBO Free Wi-Fi -- perhaps too many people were using it because PhotoVille was happening across the street. This Shake Shack location has been operating throughout the pandemic as a pickup window. It seems like they have good COVID protocols in place and their staff were helpful and informed. Each time I've visited the process has been really easy. Before I arrive, I place the order through the shake shack app for pickup, I'm given a time frame to go back, and my order is ready for me when I get there. Super simple and the whole thing experience was very efficient. The order was on time with no missing items. The food was as expected - a classic shake shack experience (but pls bring back the Chicago dog)! I was able to try Shake Shack for the first time out at the Stagecoach music festival, but I'm going to say that time didn't count. The Chicken Shack sandwiches were not available at the fest so I only had the Shroom burger. So I was stoked to have a full Shake Shack experience in NY, where it all started. Service was excellent and quick and the dining area was clean. I ordered the Chick'n Shack and fries and a nice cold Brooklyn Brewery beer. This DUMBO location is the only Shake Shack I've been to, so I can't compare it to other ones, but this particular location is super nice inside, and even has a toasty fireplace (perfect for that particular rainy day). On to the food! I ordered a Shack Burger, and man, it was amazing! The beef was so juicy and flavorful, the bun was perfect, and the cheese was suuuper good! Seriously, something about that cheese is amazing, lol. The fries were pretty good as well. Oh, and also, I had a beer with my meal, lol! Something I'm definitely not used to at fast food burger joints. So to answer the age old question of Shake Shack vs In-N-Out, it's honestly hard to answer because the two places are at two different price points. Shack Shake is about double the cost of what I pay for at In-N-Out. If you're from the West Coast, I think Habit Burger would be a more appropriate comparison. I stopped by one Sunday afternoon during the pandemic. There was a lot of people in line, but ordering went fast. It took a bit for the food to come out (20-30 min) but it was due to the high volume of orders. They were also properly enforcing CDC guidelines with masks and social distancing. Even after moving the leftovers out of the way, I was afraid to sit down. It just felt dirty. After sitting for a while, a worker did come out eventually to sweep the floor, but didn't do that great a job. And tables were not wiped down. On to the food. Shake Shack has always been my favorite burger place. After this experience, I'm taking that down a few notches. The burger looked good, but the beef patty came over-cooked, onions were rather big triangular pieces, and I specifically asked for shack sauce on the burger. In fact I asked the cashier, twice to make sure, but I never got it. Air quality: It was pretty uncomfortably stuffy in the left side dining area. The right side is a bit cooler.
