This is my second time I've been to shack shake ever! This time I used the app to place my order as I walked around the mall. The app was easy to use and you can even pick the time you want to pick up your order! They will send you a text when your order is ready. I arrived at shack shake on time and it was busy as usually. It was on a Saturday at 1:00pm so I wasn't surprised. My friend who didn't use the app waited in line and it took about 15mins before she got her order. I would recommend using the app. It was 1:00pm and I didn't get a text yet, so I just asked the person there that I placed an order. She was really nice and said my order was next! I have been told that the burgers here are smaller than the one on the east coast. It is kind of pricey in my opinion for a burger. IlI got the shake burger with onions and pickles. The burger patty here is highly quality then A fast food burger of course. Hence, the higher price but being from the west coast, I still like in n out more. ~10 min wait time for food and then ~30 min wait time for the food to come out. Weekend at around 1pm was probably not the best time to eat lunch. I stood in line because I had a coupon for free shake instead of using the kiosks. The burger itself was fine but kind of small. Everybody loves the Shake Shack sauce but it's pretty much just thousand island mixed with some mayo. The coffee shake was melted because it was sitting out. One person complained about it and got it remade. I was fine with a melted shake. The shake itself is nothing special. At almost $6, it's super over priced. I was surprised by the chicken sandwich though. It was crispy, juicy and kind of pricey. I think I paid ~$13 for a burger and a chicken sandwich. My wife liked the chicken sandwich. I think I liked it better than Chik-Fil-A. I just have to try Popeye's chicken sandwich now. Would I come here again? Nah. The hamburgers were great the only thing that we didn't really taste was their special sauce. Either they need to change the sauce recipe or put more on. The fries were out of this world. I consider this the upscale food court at the MOA. Two of my favs are at this food court. However, I came here because I wanted a beer. So, I ordered a 24oz Shackmeister Ale from New York. Not at all local, despite a review stating they have local. I did see a tap for Summit, but the other taps were for this and Abita. I like Abita when I am in NO, where I've had gallons of the stuff, but this is at the Mall of America in Minnesota, and we have a number of extraordinary breweries that can compete nationally, like Unmapped, Fulton, Indeed and Surly. I have griped about this at restaurants so many times. When will they get it? 20 minutes later, my Chicago dog and beer arrived. I was order 92. Order 111 was served right before me. Everyone who ordered before and in the ywo waves after me was served. I was actually walking up to the counter to get a refund when I saw a hotdog arrive. Shocked, it was mine. To my surprise, the employee with my dog said something to a dude next to her. He took a pint beer of Abita that I watched poured earlier, dumped it in a 24oz cup. And proceeded to top it off with Shackmeister. Nooooo. I made hotdog lady repour. Mega 1 star for that. The beer was two stars. Just okay. My hotdog was way overcooked, tiny and bun soggy, and maybe room temperature. I suspect they indeed forgot. So the 1 star is well deserved: wait, beer swap, lack of good local beer, and the food was mediocre and small. I have been here a few times amd had good experiences before, but these mistakes were egregious. However, it is the only beer place I am aware of in the vicinity, so I will probably be back. So I came here all excited to try a really good burger....only to be really disappointed. I don't know why this place is so popular? Waited for 30 minutes or so and waiting for the pager thing to go off which was pointless because they just called my name out and didn't page me. It also seems like that was what they did for everyone else too. Now the burger... it was very salty. Also the fries were cold. Really... I wished that I had gone across the mall to Johnny Rocket's for a really good gourmet-style burger. I was so excited when they announced Shake shack was coming to MoA last year. I was pumped up and excited for its arrival. Shake shack originated back in New York as a food cart and now has grown worldwide! It's crazy to see how many shake shack locations they've opened. They have them in Texas and California as well! Now I no longer need to travel for my shake shack. Shake shack serves various burgers, but my favorite is the Shake Stack. It's fried portobello mushroom patty filled with cheese and a beef patty! It's delicious! I love mushrooms, especially the ones filled with cheese! It's like a a juicy lucy, if you know what I mean! Yum. They introduce new food items like hot dogs and fried chicken sandwiches, but I always resort back to the shack stack. One day I shall try it.. Now onto the fries. They are crinkle cut! I really like crinkle cut! They make it really crispy here, a little more so than other shake shack locations I've been to. You can get it topped with cheese here as well! I recommend that! Now the question...Burger burger or Shake shack? I say go with shake shack. Burger burger tried to imitate the shack shack feel as well as logo... but no competition here, shake shack wins. It was pretty busy on opening day, but we didn't have trouble finding a seat or anything. It seemed like they closed off a portion of the north culinary section seating to be reserved for shake shack customers, which is nice. The service here was so far so good! I thought I ordered 2 fries, but they only ended up putting one. I went back in line to try and order another one, but my buzzer rang. I told them I wanted to order another crinkle fries, but the lady just said, it's ok, she'll get me one. :) Thanks! Lastly, a lot of people say shake shack is the east cost version of in-n-out...but in my eyes..in-n-out wins, especially when you take price into consideration. I could probably get 2-3 meals at in-n-out with the price of 1 meal at shake shack. Shake Shack is here!! Right now, it's popular and a huge success at the mall of America. If you've ever been to Burger Burger, they have the exact same logo, exact same food system and trays and burgers in wrappers, and drinks. I hate to say this but I really believe that Burger Burger's food was better. Don't get me wrong, Shake Shack was good but nothing blew me out of the water. The Shakes were good. I had the coffee shake and it was thick so I drank a small glass of water afterwards. I do recommend trying a shake... After all it is called shake shack! I tried the Shackburger (original) and it was good but I wasn't amazed by any flavors. The meat was cooked PERFECT but the buns came out very greasy and soggy for me. I still demolished the entire burger but it would've been better if the buns were toasted. The fries were just meh. My friend and I ate almost all of them but it lacked any flavor. It felt like we were eating frozen fries, not fresh. Total cost: 2 burgers, + 1 shake + 1 fries = $21.... Not so cheap. Overall, I'd recommend coming here and to keep trying new things. :) read more

I'm so happy we have a Shake Shack in the mall! Walking around for hours makes me super hungry, and having a place to satisfy the burger cravings is perfect. I know the service isn't the fastest, but this is located in one of the busiest malls in the country so I like to think they're moving as fast as possible! The longest I've waited is maybe 20 minutes or so, for reference. I've gotten a single ShackBurger as well as a double, and I can confidently say that the double ShackBurger is much juicier and generally more tasty (drooling just thinking about it...). Please do yourself a favor and do NOT forget to get a shake. It's also worth the 50 cents to get it malted, so don't forget to do that either. The strawberry shake is my favorite :) Fries are a good add-on, but I usually find a burger and shake is enough to fill me up! I try to stay far from MOA in summer because I'm not a big fan of crowds so I didn't rush right over to try this much-hyped chain when they opened earlier this year. Since my wife needed to pick up some alterations at Nordstroms it gave us a perfect excuse to go early. We dropped by for lunch around 11:20 The burgers are really good and taste just like those from an old time diner. The crinkle cut fries were wonderfully crispy. The food was pretty good although we didn't try the shakes this time. When you order you get a buzzer so you will know when to come and get your food. Even at this early time the wait was longer than I expected. There are plenty of places to sit in the expanded food court. Ok... maybe my opinion doesn't count because I just started eating meat this week - hadn't had it in almost 4 years - but sweet baby Jesus this might be the best thing I've ever eaten. Ever. EVER. I feel a little guilt saying that but Yelp is for honesty, right? (I'm so sorry cows.....) The burgers are like an even better version of Culver's burgers. The patties are pressed on the grill which gives it this almost crisp border which makes for a great texture mixed with the soft, grilled brioche bun. The shack sauce is fantastic; it's not like In-N-Out's sauce which is a thousand island style sauce, this is more of a garlic aioli type and it is glorious. It's crucial to the sandwich and also goes great as a side with the crinkle cut fries! They also have hotdogs (and chili dogs currently), chicken sandwiches, and a vegetarian "burger" (cheese stuffed deep fried mushroom!) so there's something for everyone! Also, like Culver's, they have custard and a variety of mix-ins! It's a little spendy compared to regular ice cream but certainly not terrible, and in my opinion the price is worth it for such silky smooth ice cream! My only complaint is that their soft drinks are tiny? The cups are almost half the size of a regular sized soft drink cup and they fill it to the top with ice first so I didn't get much of a beverage but I don't even care; that burger was incredible. 5/5 read more

Walking around the mall, wondering what to eat? The north food court has a bunch of amazing food options, but if you are into burgers, shake shack has you covered. The burgers are as consistently good as your favorite fast food chain and their menu is pretty solid. For what shake shack is (FAST FOOD), there's no better options in the mall. I got the smokehouse double. It's a double bacon cheeseburger with some cherry peppers on it. The peppers are super vinegary, like banana peppers. I thought they were perfect in the burger. The bun was greased out and soggy, but all in all, it completed the burger. The whole thing was a guilty, cheesy, meaty, smoky, grease bomb. It was exactly what I wanted. My wife got the shake shack double and it had fresh tomatoes, onion and lettuce. Basically a California cheeseburger but sub the mayo for shack sauce (think liquid seasoned sour cream). A lot less grease on this burger. It was light and fresh (as far as a double cheeseburger from a fast food joint goes). The fries are like super crunchy Culver's crinkle cut fries. They are great if you like crunchy crinkle cut fries from Culver's. We got the 'Malt of America' shake. It was basically vanilla soft serve in a lil cup with a cookie crushed on it. Meh, I'd pass on it next time. They have beer and wine options, so that's kinda cool. I've been here about 5 times and always left satisfied. Overhyped and generally undifferentiated burgers, most of which are soft enough that grandpa can eat them without his dentures. The fries are of a somewhat better quality, and the shakes are good. The regular hot dog is meh, but it's better than the chicken dog, which is a chewy, rubbery mess. Props to them for offering a vegetarian option, the Shroom Burger. It's kind of a fried portobello version of a Jucy Lucy and is actually one of the tastier items on their menu. That said, it has enough cheese to cause a heart attack, so don't select it under some assumption that vegetarian = healthy. So I unfortunately had to make a weekend trip to MOA for a few clothing items for an upcoming wedding.... I decided to see what all the hype was about and ignore the mass of teenage hormones flowing through the mall. The line was relatively short so that was nice. I've heard the wait can be long at times. Our cashier was super nice and even informed us the shroom burger was actually a veggie burger! Good eye! I got the shack burger but made it a double. (As Tim Taylor would say "more power! Eh eh eh)(not sure how to type out his sound) I digress.. I also got the Fries and a root beer. The food didn't take too long and actually got booth seating in the perfect people watching place! The burger was pretty good! Lots of cheese, perfectly charred from the flat top grill(only way to have a burger) and the bun action was nice n soft! It had a really great buttery flavor and was gone in a matter of a couple minutes. My fries were good as well. Not too salty and fresh! But the surprising part of the meal was how awesome my Root Beer was! Just how it used to taste when I was a kid!(dang, I'm that age where I say thing like that...) After hearing such wonderful things about this place and hearing people rave about it, I HAD to try it out! First the prices were father expensive, but it is Mall of America. Not sure if that's normal for them, or if it's just because of the location of the restaurant. The line was long and moved, but the line to get a table in the area was almost as long. So don't come too hungry or else you'd be dying.. Tables were solid with a fun design, sturdy and the area was kept clean. Staff was friendly, helpful and sufficient. They did have a tap for water, so it was easy to refill our water glasses without having the bug the counter/kitchen. I got a shack burger and it was good. All ingredients were fresh! The taste was solid. However, the burger was on the small side. I enjoyed it. It was My boyfriend got a SmokeShack and had no complaints besides the size. Ingredients were fresh and the burger was cooked perfectly. We also got cheese fries (1 with and 1 without bacon) which were also fresh, crispy and ther perfect amount of salt was added. Lots of thick, big pieces of bacon too! I also got an apple pie ala mod shake which was crazy amazing! I'm sensitive to dairy, so my stomach was unsettled about it. But it was good. Not sure I'd do it again, probably would save my money and just get water due to the crazy prices, then walking around MOA with an unsettled stomach wasn't fun either... The food was good. I've had Shake Shack several times while traveling around the east coast and previously at this location as well. I ventured here the other day. It had been awhile since my last visit so my brain had somewhat forgotten how good this place is. Normally I choose the Shack Burger with fries, but I decided to get the Chick'n Shack instead. I've been curious about it because I love fried chicken. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed to any degree. The batter was flaky with just a mild amount of crisp but it worked well. The pickles nestled underneath the chicken were so yummy. They provided an extra oomph that completed the sandwich. The combination of sweet and salty delighted my palate to an unanticipated level. I was expecting it to be good but it was fantastic! Fries are another item that they do well here. They have a very crisp texture and nice crinkle cut design. From my experience, the line has been on the longer side, regardless of location. Now easy, I know it really is just fast food but if we're going along with that story then it's hands down the absolute best fast food burger place we have in the Twin Cities. The burgers are fresh! You can taste it! And so juicy!! The Shake Sauce is what makes them so special. It adds so much unique flavor!! They're deliciously made with the veggies and cheese -- simplicity at its finest. I would only recommend getting the double patty because the single will just not fulfill your soul quite enough. Also add bacon. Always add bacon. And the cheese fries....my good god yes! Nice and hot cheese sauce with a very specific flavor, can't place it, I just know in my heart that it's yummy as hell! Ask for extra cheese sauce. Always ask for extra cheese sauce! :D I'd say I only wished that this beautiful establishment (which it really is, pay attention to the decor, it's quite nice!! ) was not inside MOA. The line at Shake Shack at MOA is always so long. I've had Shake Shack before in NY and in Boston and both times I wasn't super impressed/didn't think it really lived up to the hype. I got a burger and cheesy fries one night at the mall when it wasn't too busy because 1. I was hungry for a burger and fries 2. Shake Shack sounded like it would be good and it had been a long time since I had it and 3. Finally there was not a gigantic crowd and like around it. Service was ok - the person who took our order wasn't all that friendly and seemed really bored/impatient to serve us at the counter. I guess I won't read too much into that since she does work at the mall food court, after all. However, it seemed like the food took a really long time to get made and they forgot to put the lettuce and tomatoes on so we had to go back and ask for it. I still think that overall, the menu is pretty pricey for basically fast food burgers and fries and custard, and I had a hard time feeling like I wanted to pay what I would have to pay for some of their menu items. That being said, I did really enjoy the single patty burger I got, more than I remember the last times I ate at Shake Shack. When you first read the name, "shroom burger" it sounds not only unappealing, but inedible as well. That's coming from someone who LOVES mushrooms. I am very passionate about portobello mushrooms, and I felt skeptical. I was wrong. Boy, was I wrong. Who knew a friend mushroom would be such a fungi to eat. (Funny? No? Okay.) The first bite of my vegetarian mushroom burger was heaven on earth!! How the mushroom and warm cheese combination just melts in your mouth.... honestly no words. The Shroom burger not only has cheese, but lettuce, tomato, and Shakesauce. The fries are amazing as well! Nice and crispy. It only took me less than 15 minutes to get my burger. Which was amazing, since it's located in the Mall of America. We went on Father's Day because they serve free custard to Dads. I wish there was a second location. The only reason I'm not there more is because it's in the mall. I don't always have the energy to fight throngs of people for a burger. The location is the only reason why I'm not giving this place five stars. If you're ever feeling feisty, stop by the Mega Mall for a shroom burger. You won't have any regrets. read more

The burger was a little over seasoned but overall I enjoyed the taste and I'm a big fan of smash patties. So yeah, I like burgers and french fries. And Shake Shack's have not disappointed me! And yeah, it's a nation-wide chain, but they source local MN beef and beer. I've had the Shack Stack, SmokeShack, and cheese fries. I get the cheese on the side so my fries stay crispy longer because I'm a smart and strategic eater (and a loser who overthinks these things). The muenster-cheese-stuffed portabella mushroom on the Shack Stack is so umami and gooey and also crispy - hallelujah! I ate a piece of the patty that was sticking out and I gotta say, the meat alone is flavorful, juicy, and well-seasoned. The SmokeShack has cheese, bacon, and cherry peppers on it. I LOVED the slight kick and vinegary flavor from the peppers. It helped cut and balance the bacon and cheese. Though there was a line of around 8ppl, I think the whole process took about 15mins to get my food during lunch rush. I hear their chicken sandwich is just as amazing, so I look forward to trying that next time! Sooo what's the hype? I would much rather eat a Parlor burger or George and the Dragon Burger to be honest. For fast casual, it's fine, but it's not worth the hype in my opinion. For starters, the cheese situation is a bit ridiculous on the Shack Stack. I have never been sicker haha. The sauce they added didn't help my stomach much either. I was down for the count after this kicked in. The size of the burger filled me up, but a typical human would probably still be hungry. The burger is good, but there are better burgers out there in my opinion. The fries were wayyyy too salty and not very crispy. I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but I would rather devour McDonald's not-fries than these puppies. So, overall, it's fine. Would I be back? No. Would I recommend it? No. read more

This location needs some work. Slow line, indifferent staff, dining area always needs a good cleaning. If you've ever been to a stand-alone Shake Shack, you'll see a massive difference in quality between this and that. It's a chain burger place, but a really delicious one! I ordered the stack with a burger and a cheese filled mushroom and I loved every bit of it! So I came back a week later and I did it again. And I plan on doing it every time I'm at the mall (which luckily for my waistline is not too often). The burger is moist and not greasy at all. The mushroom is filled with deliciously melting gooey cheese that transforms into a great sauce for the burger. I've known about Shake Shack for ages but I've never been able to make it out to the East Coast to try it. I've tried In-N-Out Burger from the West Coast (which I absolutely love) and I heard that Shake Shack was the East Coast's equivalent to it. So, you can imagine my excitement when I found out that Shake Shack was opening in the new North Food Court at Mall of America! I went on opening day and the line was long but not terrible. I've also gone several more times since then. There always seemed to be a line for the first month or so that it was open. This is a fast food place so you order at the counter, they give you a buzzer, and then you wait for your food. Meanwhile, you can find a spot at one of the many tables in their seating area or anywhere else in the North Food Court. I really like the buzzers and think it's a fantastic and organized way of getting the right food to the right customers! Shake Shack's menu is fairly large. They have lots of food and drink options: burgers, hot dogs, fries, malts, shakes, beer, wine, etc. BURGERS - delicious, juicy, and savory! I've tried the: - Shack Burger - a cheeseburger with their signature Shack Sauce. Pretty sure i devoured this in two bites - Shack Stack - the Shack Burger AND the 'Shroom Burger (cheese-filled portobello mushroom, kind of like a Juicy Lucy) combined. This one is my favorite as I love anything with mushrooms! The cheese fries are a must (or even just the regular crinkle cut fries) to get with every meal! Perfectly fresh and crispy with cheese drizzled all over, yum! The shakes are also worth a try. They have the usual vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry along with a few others as well as their Shake of the Week with the featured custard flavor. Although everything is really good, I'd have to say that it's expensive because everything is a la carte and the portion sizes are small. Definitely worth a try though! read more

Burger was good. Quite tasty though kind of small. I had a single, husband had a double which was $8!!!! Fries were good. Shake was not so great and nearly caused a divorce. (Is it even real ice cream? I don't think so). I'd recommend skipping it. Pretty pricey. I think I'd prefer Five Guys just for the mountain of fries alone, but this is a nice treat. read more
