I've been going to this salon in downtown NYC for a while now for wash & blow drys and because that stylist - Nissy - is going to be in Greenwich now part of the week, I wanted to make sure Greenwich knew. It's a thorough healthy whole wash of hair and scalp, and whole rinse (if you get wash and blow drys a few times a week you know whole wash and esp the whole rinse is hard to find), and then the blow dry styling. whole process takes about 50-60 minutes, they don't rush so your hair is going to be dried healthy without burning hair or scalp, without gratuitously stretching it. I always go for straight with a 'natural wave' a bit of volume on top (think downtown NYC volume more than Southern or UES Volume ;-) and it holds for about 3-4 days in different ways every day (I sleep on it, work out, etc. so it falls a bit but still looks styled) the scalp stays clean for 3-4 days after these washes. whether you're fr NYC and in Fairfield County for social or professional reasons, need that wash and blow dry before lunch, dinner, events, meetings, this is absolutely an excellent salon for that. I called today to see if they had a stylist with experience with extra fine short hair. The gentlelmen that answered the phone had a very thick accent and could not understand him well. He said everyones experienced and don'tworry about it!!! Really???? I am so worried that he would say that with ne explination and advice. I would not trust anyone in that salon with my hair solely because of the guy who aswered the phone that was so ridiculous. I had high hopes so you may want to consider letting this guy know he is losing you customers. Very disapointed. read more

Grateful to have Hiro's nearby without needing to trek into the city to find a salon that specializes in Asian hair. A typical wash and cut comes in under an hour for me - super efficient and a great cut. A little pricey but they're jn Greenwich and there's no other Asian salon in the area - so not much to be done there and no complaints otherwise. read more

This review is for Naomi. She cut my hair two times and I loved it! I unfortunately do not live in CT anymore. I highly recommend her because she is so attentive and extremely nice! She understands how to cut and style Asian hair. The only thing that could use improvement on is hair dying (I asked for balayage) since it came out a bit messy and splotchy. She did offer to fix it for free since the first time it was a bit orange. I really appreciate that she cared about me as a client and person. Haircut and style is definitely the best here! It's probably the best place for Asian hair in CT. Prices are decent and about the same as NYC when I compared. If you have lots and lots of THICK Asian hair she is able to thin it out and style it. I had a wonderful experience getting a haircut here by Shuhei (he told me his name meant "smart" and "peaceful" in Japanese). He handled my head and hair with such great care and gentleness it's just like he's giving a bath to a baby - it almost made me feel like a baby again!!! He's very professional and the whole process made me feel so calm and peaceful. It's more than just a haircut but a super relaxing experience! They even served me a hot green tea while I was waiting for my sister to get her haircut done by another hair stylist. I once had a terrible experience at another salon where they were so rough with my head I felt like my head was being treated like a football. I got an appointment this past Tuesday and was hoping I had finally found a great place to get haircuts locally. The reviews I read described how customers were blown away by the great customer service and friendliness. I did not get that. I brought my 2 year old son with me who sat in a chair quietly playing with his toys. Seriously. Calm and not typical of a 2-year old. My stylist didn't even tell me his name until I asked him after he had washed my hair and began my cut. And talk about short answers! I stopped asking him anything about himself after 2 or 3 attempts at making conversation. He did not speak to me other than that. And mind you, while I was getting my cut, 2 others customers came in and got a completely different experience as their stylists were chatting with them, laughing, etc. I do not feel customers get treated equally. The question I am pondering now is: Why? Likes: the reclining chair for washing hair, the nice smelling products, clean salon Do not likes: scalp massage was meh, haircut was basic, blow dry was meh and he didn't even ask me how I wanted it parted, cannot tip via card I'm debating on whether I should request the female stylist if I went back. I want to stop going to Manhattan for my cuts. This location would be so great if only the customer service was better. read more

I cannot say enough great things about my experience. I heard rumors about people who sing the praises of Japanese stylists and their expertise, thoroughness and skill. I have converted as of yesterday. I am hard to please when it comes to hair - price tag means nothing to me and I have been to many an expensive salon where the stylist is not up to date on color, technique and trends. My appointment with Shu was excellent. He was knowledgeable and honest - he could ave tried selling me the treatment I consulted for, but instead suggested I just get a haircut. He applied acupressure to my scalp during the wash, and worked on y hair meticulously for over an hour. The results are possibly the best haircut I've ever had - a little mod, elegant, sexy, good volume (hard to achieve with my hair), great length, and styling options. Not only his. I confessed I NEVER get haircuts, last time was a year and a half ago. Instead of giving me the same lecture I've heard from other stylists, Shu realized this is just who I am and suggested I come back in 6 months for a touch up. I certainly will. read more

Hiro's Hair Salon was great! In the past I have gone to a cheap mall hair salon where the work is inconsistent and unprofessional but very cheap (20 dollars). I decided it was time to find a salon that would be my go to place. I found Hiro's on yelp and saw such good reviews that I thought I would give it a try. All of my expectations were met! I left with a perfectly cut style that was much lighter than any I had in the past. Also my layers were cut perfectly! My hair type is straight to wavy and very thick. He used scissors only for my style, and it looked modern, in style, and professional. He gave great advice for my hair type, and how to style it. I have been going to this salon for almost 3 years now. I lived in CT for almost all my life until i moved to NYC last year. Ive been to many of the NYC hair salons and none of them are as good as Hiro's Salon. I always go to Nabe, he cuts and colors hair to perfection each time. He is the only one who really knows how to cut my difficult asian hair! Also I recently took my wife ( a lifetime NYer) to Nabe to get her hair colored..she didn't want to bleach her hair but wanted a light brown color. Her hair never looked better and I was really blown away at how Harold transformed her look and subsequently the look of many of her friends. I started getting my hair cut by Harold and the same deal. Perfect cut, Color modern and professional. It was tough getting used to the idea of someone else dyeing my hair as using box color for years, but Harold developed the perfect color for me that doesn't contrast too much when the grey comes back. I was anxious as I have fine European hair and some ultra expensive Greenwich salons had seriously damaged and burnt my hair while doing highlights. My hair colour was done by Shuhei. He simply asked what colours I wanted and proceeded to do his job. There was no unnecessary blabber but someone who was focused on his work. He was AMAZING. I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair colour. My fine hair didn't get damaged. The price made sense compared to other Greenwich salons. I highly recommend it. I will go back! I had never been to Hiro's before today and I will never be going back. I would say my haircut, for 70 dollars was worse than a botched supercuts haircut. I came to Hiro Salon because I saw on yelp that it had all five star reviews... I'm not sure how THAT happened... My haircut was just unacceptable. I had about waist length hair which I needed to be trimmed and shaped. I discussed this with my stylist extensively and included several images of what I was looking for. We agreed on a soft angle below my chin and long layers in the back. All was good and well in the back until my stylist literally took the hair on the right side of my face and CHOPPED it in a straight line to chin length, while the rest of my hair remained down my back. I look like a hot mess because I now have a shelf of hair on the side of my face while the rest is down my back. Is this considered to be angling? I have no idea but for the sake of your beautiful hair please avoid this place like the plague. The worst part of it all is that no one seemed to think that it looked absurd. Any trained stylist would be able to recognize this error... Just anyone in general would probably be able to recognize it. Just no. read more

I went to the salon based on the reviews i saw but still didnt know what to expect. I never get haircuts (usually only once every other year) because i always get disappointed. I had a haircut with Mai and i told her what i wanted and told her its up to her to decide what she thinks would suit me. I wanted something really short but she insisted i keep it longer and then she did her magic cutting my hair intricately. After the hour i was just stunned. My hair has never ever EVER looked so great. It felt so light and refreshed and she was right in telling me to keep my hair a little longer. I was so happy but i still wanted to see if my hair would look the same after i showered and dried it myself. To my surprise, my hair looked just as great even after my shower.
