I absolutely love Shaheens! Went there to try out the Chicken tikka that my girlfriend raved about. The restaurant is spacious, clean and inviting. The takeout area was busy but we were able to get a table rather quickly. We ordered the Chicken tikka masala, chicken tikka, samosa and garlic naan. By far the best chicken tikka masala I've ever had in my life was at shaheens. It's flavored so well and the perfect amount of creaminess. Their chicken tikka was seasoned well too and so tender. The samosas are big and stuffed with the filling, which was also amazing. The waitress provided us with tamarind sauce and a yogurt sauce that paired well with everything there. Great selection of authentic Pakistani food. Everything they make has great flavor with lots of spice. Fair warning as even the mild can be spicier than normal which I love. Visit Date: January 18, 2019 I was done with my second colonoscopy on the morning of January 18, so when it came time for us to have dinner hubby asked me where I'd like to go. I naturally jumped up at the opportunity to eat at a place I haven't eaten in before. I was looking at middle eastern and hubby suggested we come to Shaheen for Pakistani food. I was game so off we went. Trying to eat gluten free, dairy free and healthy is a little challenging for me when it comes to Pakistani/Afghani or Indian food but I manage. I think it's hard for the servers to understand being gluten free. I found a BBQ chicken dish the server I spoke suggested I stick to the BBQ part of the menu which had tomato and ginger. The dinner came with no rice which is fine for me. I haven't eaten rice in a long time, I wasn't really a fan of it when I was fat but sometimes in middle eastern restaurants they are weird about me not eating rice. So that was a plus. The dish was spicy and I'm not sure I was eating the healthiest parts of the chicken but sometimes you have to make the best with what you've got so I was doing that. They gave us greens to eat before our meal came out so it was nice to get the veggies. I'd come back here again and stick to the dish I got just to be safe. read more

I love this place. They have authentic, great tasting Pakistani food! Their pulao rice is consistently cooked to perfection. Their samosas, tandoori chicken, shami kebabs and biryani and korma dishes are absolutely mouth watering and delectable. The roti is always made fresh of course and in Ramadan there is more variety and is even better! Whenever I come here I see all kinds of people from different ethnicities- thats how good the food is here! So far everything I order from here is delicious. This restaurant catered my wedding. Until today all of our guests cannot stop complimenting the taste of the food and the presentation. We worked with Shan. He was great to work with, listened to our requests and on the day of our wedding presented us with more then what we expected. The quality of food was great and the portions were worth the money! I had two mistreatments at Shaheen Restaurant in Hicksville NY. First when I went one evening to order their well-advertised big POSTERS menu which they so proudly display in the front window. I walked into the Shaheen around 4:45 P.M when I try to place my the order I got a response in these words "you should have placed your order earlier around 2 o'clock now we're busy the kitchen is not taking any order". I didn't believe what this young girl was saying very seriously. Finally, she took my order and ask me to come back in two hours I had no choice but go along with this VERY RIDICULOUS setup by Shaheen Restaurant. I had invited a friend for dinner. At 6:50 P.M I received phone call same girl advising me NOT to come kitchen is busy they can't fill my three advertise dinners. What one could do in a situation like this? There was no apology no sorry. We wind up in Burger King for fish sandwiches. Thanks Shan. It took me about three months to step back into Shaheen Restaurant again as we were having family, and friends get together. In restaurant I asked for Shan. I was informed he was out of restaurant. The young girl was nice enough to call him on the phone. I was given the opportunity to talk to Shan. Shan told he is in a meeting now he should be in an hour please wait for him. We waited for Shan after about an hour and a half we couldn't anymore. I left my phone number in hope that Shan will call me and I will come back to place my order with Shan. I waited for over three hours with no call from no one. I went back to the restaurant. I was told he's not back yet. I asked please let me talk to him on the phone a different young girl started with disrespectful and very angry tone to me. She was so disrespectful I couldn't believe my eyes what I saw witnessing and going through. It's more than a week no one have the decency to call me and hear my side of story. I am an old man why I was treated like this. People like me old timers made SHAHEEN household name. This SHAHEEN is not the same as it was started by Shan's grandfather was back in the 70s. Shame on you all food and service are not the same. It's sad a man who worked so hard to start and establish a good business is being run like this. No respect for paying customers at all. read more

Shaheen has been where my family has gone for real-deal Pakistani food for years. Not known for their service or ambiance, but for the naan and kebabs, biryani and butter chicken. The food is spicy, flavorful and sure to leave you feeling like you were just transported to a different place. The last time I was here was this past Saturday. I had the karahi chicken and the butter chicken with naan. Both were delicious. Make sure to ask the (sometimes not so polite) lady behind the counter for what's good on the day you go. read more

I'm giving this 4 star rating purely for the chicken kebobs. They were spicy, and so was the sauce. Nice to have them at a place where they're not afraid of a little spice. Very nice! The rest of the food however was just fine. Chicken biriani was fine. Goat curry was a bit too boney but ok. Naan was super dry. Go here for the kebobs if nothing else. Not sure what has changed. Yesterday, Feb. 15th, 2019, was the first time I was actually really impressed with their food. Up until now, I was not sure why Shaheen is so popular among the desi crowd, maybe only my friend's family? I have had it multiple times before, whether it was at the restaurant or as catered. My friend swears by Shaheen and everytime he has a party, he caters from Shaheen. To me, food was always overly spicy and had the raw masala taste. Like as if they just threw in Shan Masala and called it a day. However, I had it again yesterday. Best haleem I have ever had. It was neck to neck with the haleem from Al Naimat in Jackson Heights. maybe even better. The spice level was perfect and it did not feel box made. The naan have always been on point, so nothing but good things to say about them. I also had their butter chicken, which was also great. Not overly sweet, although I am a fan of somewhat sweet butter chicken (from BBQ Nite), but this was pretty damn good. I also had their lamb charsi BBQ. which was also very good. So I am not sure what changed. Maybe they finally had a team meeting and decided to tone down on their spice level or maybe a new chef. Who knows, but please don't change. No one likes overly spicy and oily food and what you have right now seems to be working really well. I would definitely recommend this for their desi traditional dishes and naan. I have not tried their seekh kababs lately, they were always a bit too spicy for me, but I am hoping they've changed. Lets see. Great job Shaheen! Went there with couple of friends. Ordered Nutella naan, chicken karahi, Bihari chicken, karara chicken. Nutella naan was pretty good, Bihari chicken boti was good to but nothing extraordinary. Wasn't a fan of karahi and karara chicken. Got tea and mithai afterwards and mithai was below average. May be chekc the specials for the day and plan accordingly . Today was naan (different types) special and to go orders were pretty busy. They also had a preset menu so better to chdkc the daily specials before visiting. For example I wanted Chaplin kebab but weren't available, Kheer wasn't available either. Place wasn't very clean like most desi restaurants but service was very nice. KEBAB DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I wanted a beef kabob roll but they were out so I got chicken. It was so fresh and delicious. The naan was fresh, soft and really good. We got biryani and it was also very tasty and fresh. We got a kachori which was interesting. My first time eating that, but it was basically keema in a sorta samosa type pastry- delicious! I give them 4 stars for service otherwise a definite 5. I would come back for sure. I came in at 8:15pm and they didn't have white sauce either. We love Sunday brunch here. It's one of the few desi and more importantly Pakistani spots I enjoy in the area. Mouthwatering halwa puri, nihari and paya all freshly prepared with a clearly homemade spice mix. When I went there I got very disappointed because they had nothing in vegetarians dinner that day. My husband loves there lamb/goat curry & I am a vegetarian. We both were really hungry when we reach there. So we decided that my husband should have his favorite & I can try some pani puris which was the one vegetarian thing they had.
