    Mango Lassi

Cute little restaurant in Hicksville with parking in the back. The servers were kind and let us sit wherever we want. It's a causal Indian restaurant but clean. Not much decor. The samosa chaat was good but the sour yogurt ruined the taste a little. The chutneys were good and fresh. I enjoyed that they cut the samosa up too and mixed it well. The mango lassi was well made and didn't taste artificial. The dosas were good but not the best. They were paper thin but too crispy. It shattered like glass when you went to go break it. The sambar was disappointing and too thick. Coconut chutney was excellent. The potato masala was not good and needed onions/more taste to it. It was basically mashed potatoes with some green peas. Overall good quick casual place

Update- Been back a few times since my review and an upgrading to 5 stars. The dinner vibe is lively and friendly and completely different than the lunch vibe. The dosas are amazing. This time I tried the papadam and the Chole along with my coconut dosa, I loved it all. I want to go back every week and try each dosa!

Terrific food! We were so hungry when we came at the end of the night and all the food was great. I loved my Dosa World Thali, which had a little bit of everything. Dosa and uttapam were great and I loved the small almond halwa they give! The sambar was more thin and watery than I'm used to, but it was still good. Filter coffee was a great end to the meal. The staff was nice, just a little slow with menus/checks. I'm sure they're very busy on weekends especially, and for the quantity/amount of food they make for lots of people, I give them slack. Great food, great prices, and great atmosphere!

I ordered the South Indian Thali and the variety was ok but the quality of taste was mediocre at best. Nothing was recognizable to home cooked South Indian food, it's like someone from the North tried making South Indian food. [Also I didn't get a papadam or poori - MISSING ITEMS] I never even drank the Masala tea it went straight into the trash, they need to package their drinks better for delivery! Not just hand someone a coffee cup that can be tampered with.

Dosas are so underrated IMHO - they have everything you want, crunch, spice and are just full of flavor. Dosa World serves a full menu but we came primarily for the namesake dish. We got gobi manchurian and a few onion rava masala dosas and it was a pretty good meal. The gobi manchurian was pretty good - spicy but could have used some more tang. The dosas were great - crispy and spicy. The potato filling was perfectly spiced and the dipping sauces were a best complement. Service is friendly and prices are fair. Portions are a good size. Most definitely a good option if you're in the Hicksville area.

Probably my favorite dosa spot in Nassau, LI. Food is not too expensive, they serve good portion size, and is very tasty! Definitely give it a try if you are in the area! Side note: like most indian food places, my stomach didn't take it too well the next day. Don't get Dosa world if you got work/school the next day. Also, when you ask for spicy, they mean it. So just be careful with the spice level.

My only complaint? My stomach has a limit…read more My family and I have been coming to Diwan for years, and this is hands down our go-to spot for Indian all-you-can-eat. I used to frequent the Indian buffets in Jackson Heights, and honestly, Diwan is just as good, if not better! One thing I really appreciate is that they have their own parking lot, the dining room is spacious, and as a parent, I was thrilled to see they have baby high chairs. Those little details make a big difference. We stopped by for their weekday AYCE special at just $15 per adult, which is an incredible value! My plate always ends up looking the same because I can't resist the chicken biryani, palak paneer, and that rich, creamy butter chicken. Oh, and they mostly use chicken thighs! So tender and moist! I keep telling myself I'll try something different... then I walk back with the exact same favorites. No regrets. We also ordered the mango lassi, and it was fantastic! Just a little tip: it comes with ice by default, so if you prefer it without ice, just let them know when ordering. The food quality has been consistently excellent every time we've visited, and the service has always been warm and attentive. Another thing I enjoy is how peaceful the dining room is. It's not loud or chaotic. Everyone seems completely focused on the important business of enjoying their food. A couple of helpful tips: the buffet is dine-in only, so you can't pack up buffet food to take home. If you're ordering takeout, you'll need to order from the regular menu instead. They also offer children's pricing for the buffet, so if you're unsure about the details, just give them a quick call. If you're craving great Indian food without emptying your wallet, Diwan continues to be one of my favorite AYCE spots. Highly recommended!

Fresh puri and plenty of sauces, fresh rice and a very nice spread of Indian favorites. I really enjoyed everything they had to offer and especially the vegetarian options such as dhal and paneer. Great service and the only caveat is that any naan is purchased separately as it's not included in the ayce price. You can also just order fresh plates of any combination off their à la carte menu. We opted for the lunch buffet and were very satisfied and both price point and quality were excellent. The restaurant itself is nice with great ambiance and plenty of seating. There's also plenty of beverage options. We've been back twice already and anticipate many more visits.

I came here last week for an event, and got to enjoy basically a tasting menu of sorts…read more This menu took Indian flavors on a seriously fun ride. From rich and smoky to spicy, tangy, creamy, and refreshing. Banjara Tikka brought tender chicken thighs layered with yogurt, fried onion and garlic. Mauryaji Basket Chaat delivered chickpeas, potato, tamarind, mint, pomegranate and a creamy yogurt mousse. The Chicken Seekh Kebab was perfectly seasoned and savory with pickled laccha onion, while the Guntur Chilli Chicken Bao turned up the heat with Guntur red chili, sesame and refreshing beetroot shikanji shots. The vegetarian dishes absolutely held their own as well. Chilli Momo with carrot, sesame and seaweed, came out with a soft, delicate bite and a subtle chew, filled with a lightly spiced vegetable mix that leaned savory and aromatic rather than overpowering heat. The Paneer Makhni was rich, velvety, and deeply comforting. The paneer stayed soft and pillowy, soaking up a buttery tomato-cashew gravy that was slightly sweet, gently tangy, and finished with that unmistakable fenugreek aroma that tied everything together. The mains were just as unforgettable. Laal Maas came in bold and unapologetic. Tender goat slow-cooked until it practically melted off the bone, swimming in a deep, smoky gravy built on mathania chilies that brought slow heat. The Shrimp Malai Curry was the complete opposite in tone. Silky coconut milk wrapped around plump tiger shrimp, with Bengali whole spices adding a gentle sweetness and aromatic depth that made the dish feel light yet indulgent at the same time. And somehow dessert still had room to impress. Rose Kulfi was creamy, floral and sweet without being overwhelming. Drinks included everything from the floral, mezcal-and-rooza Gulabo to Mango Lassi. And as someone who historically doesn't like anything rose flavored, I enjoyed both the drink AND the dessert. Just as good as the food, was the service. It is definitely a spot that should not be missed.

It's also great that they offer zabiha halal options, which makes it more accessible and comfortable to order from. The food itself is where they shine. The biryani is especially good--aromatic, fresh, and well-layered in flavor. The haleem is rich, hearty, and very satisfying, and dishes like the keema luqmi also feel freshly made and thoughtfully prepared. You can tell there's real effort behind the savory items. That said, the menu feels a bit unfocused now. With the addition of things like Chinese dishes and smoothies, it starts to feel a little scattered instead of staying true to its Hyderabadi identity, which is a bit confusing as a customer. The decor is very modern and clean, but it doesn't really reflect the cultural richness of the cuisine--something more traditional like places such as Sunshine Restaurant would've suited it better. On the downside, the desserts were also not a hit for me--they leaned too sweet and didn't feel as balanced as the savory dishes.
