Shaghf Cafe located along University Ave near Adelaide (closest subway station being St. Andrew Station), is a popular coffee chain from Dubai. This is their second location in Ontario, first in Toronto. Their first ever location in Ontario was in Mississauga. Scarborough will soon get a third location as well.
I stopped by Shaghf Cafe on a Thurs afternoon. The place was half busy. There is some indoor seating for about 15-20 customers (4-5 tables and a few counter seats). The menu consists of frappes (mango frappe, Shaghf frappe, pistachio frappe), fruit breezers (passionfruit, strawberry or watermelon), ice lattes (the habibi, red velvet, pistachio, Spanish, and dates), and hot drinks (like your traditional Americanos, cappuccinos, etc.). There is also a display of pastries if you'd like to have some food.
Not knowing what to get, I opted for a flat white. Service was friendly and efficient and my coffee was made at a reasonable time. I asked the staff what the habibi latte consisted of (hazelnut) where they said it was one of their best sellers. I'm unclear if they have other milk alternatives (I'm sure they do but I forgot to ask). The drinks are quite pricey ($9 for an ice latte!).
My flat white was made well, it was decent. Not the worst I've had, not the best.
Overall, it was nice to try a new popular coffee shop chain in Dubai. Maybe next time I'll try one of their popular drinks! read more
