My hubby and I were exploring the area and stumbled over this coffee shop. It's located on Bloor Street West and it was quite busy during a long weekend. They have a couple of tables outside and inside there were about 3 tables, two tables by the window and some individual seats with a single table each. I ordered the hot hojicha latte and it came in a ceramic Japanese inspired bowl which i thought was different from a usual mug. They served a few small pastries which I didn't try because I was too full from lunch. The customer service is very good and I really likes the interior decor - simple and clean. Cute, chill cafe that's conveniently located in the heart of Korea-town. They have the best iced matcha lattes around and a fantastic selection of non-dairy milks (macadamia milk anyone?) This is a nice spot for chatting with friends but also quiet enough to do some studying or work while drinking a cup of tea or coffee. I think the only concern I have is if I let it sit for more than 5 min, the drink will become cold. It comes in a traditional bowl, still foamy and the flavor is rich and bitter, just the way I like it. I stopped by Ninetails Coffee Bar on a Saturday around noon where the café was half full. I ordered a flat white (with oat milk) and an avo toast with a ramen egg. After ordering I sat down and my food was brought to me at a reasonable time. The flat white was made well and the avo toast with the ramen egg was unique! The toast had avocado topped with nori (seaweed), a ramen egg (that had a slightly runny yoke), and spicy mayo. The combination worked well together and the bread that the café used was not hard to cut through. Overall, a pleasant meal that was filling. Latté art will be lost underneath the plastic lid. Expect to pay $11 for a tea latté + a made elsewhere pastry. Pear danish was good! The Hojicha latté had an initial great flavour, but it soon faded and all I tasted was milk. So personally, I wouldn't order this again 'cause I just felt like I paid $5.50/6 for a glass of hot, flavoured milk. I wanted to try their dorayaki, but I was being thrifty after seeing the size - it was probably the size of a sand dollar for $5.25. Ninetails is a new cafe on Bloor West in Koreatown. The cafe itself seats about 15 people. Their single washroom is wheelchair accessible and is nicely decorated in beautiful tiles. Coffee is from local de Mello Palheta coffee roasters. Pastries come from a French catering company in Richmond Hill, and these include almond croissants, caneles, ham and cheese croissants, and pain au chocolat. I believe their dorayaki are made fresh daily in house. Ninetails has been described as Japanese themed. However other than a couple of menu items and some Japanese-like decor, i failed to see the connection with this description. Drinks range from $3.50 for an espresso or Americano, $4 for flat white, $5 for a mocha or matcha latte to $7 for "traditional matcha with sweets". When I inquired what the sweets are, I was shown some Japanese candies that are served with the matcha beverage. I ordered a mocha with oat milk (available for 75 cents extra) and purchased the last canele and dorayaki,. The dorayaki pancakes were soft, not too sweet, with a slightly caramelized flavour and an ample amount of custard between the pancakes. I enjoyed the soft bread pudding-like texture inside the canele but the exterior was not as crunchy and caramelized as I would normally expect a canele to be. The coffee in my mocha was strong, not too acidic, with an unsweetened deep chocolatey flavour. I enjoyed the creaminess of the oat milk. My friend had a matcha latte which was also unsweetened and served in a nice earthenware bowl. Overall my friend and I enjoyed our experience at Ninetails, and I would like to return to try their avocado toast with ramen egg. read more

I ordered a latte but accidentally grabbed another poor customer's cappuccino and took it to my table. Found this cafe on Blog Toronto. Tried the Apple Turnover and Red Bean Dorayaki with Traditional Japanese Matcha. The pastry was good. The outer crust was flaky and the apple inside tasted delicious. The red bean Dorayaki paired well with the traditional Japanese Matcha. The bun of the Red Bean Dorayaki was moist and soft and the red bean paste was creamy. Then I come in and get the owner (confirmed later), who not only doesn't know how to make a cappuccino, he seems more interested in doing Tinder or whatever on the phone or whatever. Anything except engaging with customers.
