Overall, the place is lovely and the servers we encountered were awesome. The woman who is a "manager" was incredibly rude and left a terrible Impression on guests of the hotel who were in town for a wedding. We were trying to enjoy our Sunday by watching football and getting food at the hotel restaurant but were encountered by a less than pleasant woman who interrupted us multiple times to remind us not to drink outside alcohol and to tip our servers who were being "more than accommodating". Upon hearing we were from Philadelphia she mentioned, "It's all good in the hood." Which leads me to believe she had some pre conceived notion of us due to our home town. I wish I had caught her name but honestly I was avoiding any more interactions than were necessary. Overall, I would suggest that she be replaced with a more competent manager who is capable of providing a positive customer experience and has better experience dealing with people in general. read more

I'm quite surprised about all the five-star reviews on the Hilton Grill at Shadow Rock. The food was not that good and the service was not any better. The one exception was the bison meatloaf with mashed potatoes - that was delicious. We suspected there was a problem in the kitchen in that the meatloaf was delivered perfectly but the other three dishes that we ordered were cold and overcooked. It's a good thing we had salads because we had to wait 45 minutes for our main courses. Considering the cost of the steaks that we ordered - we ordered the NY cut and the flat iron steak - both were not cooked to order, under seasoned, and were served cold. The redelivered meals were much better in temperature and quality (but not seasoning). However we did not get any discount or concessions whatsoever with 3 out 4 meals delivered poorly. read more

Great food! We waited only 10 minutes for a table. The wine list was extensive and the food was delish. The waiter on the other hand didn't know anything about wine and had to ask someone else for help in recommending something. He was attentive though. The portions were good size, not too big. It only gets 3 stars because of the lack of wine knowledge and the fact that the bar closes at 11pm, even when the hotel is full and people still want to keep drinking. Fantastic breakfast buffet. Includes omelettes, pancakes and Belgium Waffles. Just order through your server. We stayed at the adjoining Hilton so we went two days in a row to fuel up before our hiking sessions! We also went for dinner one night. They had live music outside on the patio (weather permitting always ask for a patio table! ) and happy hour is available out their from 3-6. You must try their lobster quesadilla. I stayed at the Sedona Hilton and ate at the Grille three times and ordered room service once during my vacation. The first night I had the New York cut steak with Gorgonzola potatoes, pickled asparagus and sauteed rapini. The steak was a great cut and cooked perfectly. The asparagus were different, but surprisingly good. The Gorgonzola potatoes were good but needed more Gorgonzola. I wasn't a fan of the rapini, I am from the south, greens like that need a pepper sauce. For dessert I had the flourless chocolate cake which was delicious. The service was great, the waiter was attentive and very helpful. Four stars. For my next visit I had the steakhouse burger. I asked for medium but it came out well done. It was still delicious and the french fries were perfect. This time the service left alot to be desired. The waitress disappeared after giving me my menu, another server had to go get her. I was finally served but a different server kept filling my tea for me. After my server brought me my burger, she sat down at the bar and was watching a football game. She didn't check on me after that, another server asked if my meal was okay. I finished with my burger and was ready to get dessert to go and pay. So I sat there watching my server watch the game and waited.... and waited.... and waited.... I'm not one for violence or confrontations, but after fifteen minutes of staring at the back of my server's head, I found myself daydreaming about going over to her and yanking on her pony tail, *hard*, to get her attention. She finally glanced over to check on me. I have never been so blatantly ignored like that. I ordered the chocolate lava cake, paid and left. The cake was fabulous. Two stars but only because the other server kept my tea full, otherwise it would be one star, three for the food and negative two for the service. I'm still disappointed in myself for leaving a nice tip without specifying that it was to be shared with the other server. On my third visit I had the roasted natural chicken with savory bread pudding, mashed potatoes and pan gravy. It was fabulous, every single item was so flavorful! The chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The mashed potatoes were wonderful. The savory bread pudding reminded me of my mom's dressing, which is one of the highest compliments that I can give. The server brought bread fresh from the oven, I actually had to wait a few minutes before I could even pick it up. The pan gravy was so good that I was dipping the bread in it. The service was just as good as the food! For dessert, I ordered the deep dish caramel apple pie to go and ate it later but I ate the cinnamon swirl ice cream at the restaurant. The ice cream was wonderful, it was vanilla with swirls of cinnamon flavored caramel and I am hoping that I can find a pie like this close to home. It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Five stars. I didn't feel like leaving the room one night so I ordered the Antipasto appetizer and fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade. The portion was huge, it had prosciutto, capicola, manchego cheese, organic olives that had been marinated in an oil with crushed red peppers. It was wonderful and I had enough left for a snack the next day. The strawberry lemonade was so good! The server had told me that the machine that makes the lemonade was broken, but that he would try to fix it. So I was extremely happy to see it on my tray. Five stars. read more

While staying at The Ridge, we came over to The Grille @ the Hilton, which is walking distance, for a late dinner. The place had a quiet ambience by the 9PM time we got there. The food did not disappoint. - Chopped Salad (solid portion split between the two of us. Dressing was not overpowering. Good start to the meal) - Asparagus (if you are a fan, I recommend it) - Fish Tacos (really good. I would definitely order again) - Lobster Quesadilla (BEST thing we ate here. The sauce was great and the chunks of lobster on a wheat tortilla hit the spot. It was unique in its tang and flavor.) Add a full bar and this was a really solid dinner. I loved the remodel. Place looks amazing. Great patio. Brought my family for MY birthday lunch. Food was great. Service was not so great, very slow. As she auctioned off all our food instead of remembering who got what food, she says enjoy and walks away. I had to stop her and ask where my food was. She said what did you order? Really!! No silverware. No refills on water or drinks. She didn't even come back out to ask how we were enjoying our lunch. I'd expect this from Denny's but not at the Hilton. Manager had to step in and I'm so glad she did. Very inexperienced service for the high prices. Expected way better. read more

I read some negative reviews online while researching hotels and restaurants in the area. Completely unwarranted! My wife and I had the Fish Tacos and Caesar Salad and they were great. Ingredients were fresh, natural and the food was well-prepared. The service was kind and attentive. We enjoyed our lunch on the outdoor terrace with a nice breeze and scenic views. The place was pretty quiet, which was nice. We'll absolutely be coming back before we leave Sedona. read more

We were staying at Hilton Resort at Bell Rock so this restaurant was were we mostly had breakfast or ordered room service for dinner. For breakfast they have two types of buffet. The continental includes cold food such as cheese, yogurt, fruit, or some cold meat/fish. The other one includes hot items such as egg, sausage, etc. I am gluten-free vegetarian and the cold buffet or vegetables omelette were my two choices. As for dinner, either bean burger with gluten-free toast and/or salad. So it is not the best place for a gluten-free vegetarian like me. The food is, well, a hotel food. I would have not come to this restaurant to eat if I was not staying at the hotel. Once we ordered orange juice and they delivered a plate of cut oranges! I guess they expected us to squeeze our own juice. Next day I told them about it and they sent a glass of orange juice free of charge. On another occasion we ordered two icecreams and even though the description stated there would be cherries on the icecreams they were delivered without cherries. Next day my daughter ordered an icecream and this time it came with three cherries (I guess they were compensating for the previous night!) but the icecream was in one bowl and the whipped cream and cherries in another! read more

We had pre-fix dinner there on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. To be honest, the food was not worth the price we paid. Arugula salad was just mixed with dressing and placed on a place. That's it. With the price, I'd expect it to be presented in a better way. The entree I chose the first night was Ribeye steak. I expected a steak grilled with salt and pepper, but what I got was marinated steak instead. It tasted ok, so we were ok with that. On the next day we went back because we thought no other restaurant was open on Christmas day. We had to wait, wait, wait for any service as well as food. Even the group that came in much later than us got their entree before us. The Christmas pre-fix food was a joke. A 15-dollar dinner of a regular restaurant would have been better than that. The hotel is great, but I highly recommend that you don't dine inside the hotel, but go to Cucina Rustica which I thought was five star in terms of food and dining experience. read more

Let me cut to the chase: the hickory smoked brisket hash is one of the best things I have ever eaten! Like top five! We ate here two days in a row (1/25 and 1/26) during our stay and all four plates were perfectly prepared and the servers were top notch. Had a very disappointing Easter brunch. It was bad even by Hilton's middling standards. No Easter ambiance to start with, the only addition to a usual brunch being flank steak and ham. None of the fruit was ripe. I asked for eggs Benedict and got poached eggs. The bar and restaurant are conjoined so the bar music could be heard throughout the restaurant. I like Ozzy Osborne, but 'Crazy Train' during Easter Brunch was not in the spirit of the holiday. Won't be going back. read more

I'm staying at the hotel for a conference and after a long drive ordered the meatloaf and brought it back to my room. It is by far, the absolutely BEST meatloaf I have EVER had. Made with Bison so it is very lean, it also has a mushroom ragut reduction sauce. I'm not a fan of mushrooms but you couldn't even see a mushroom. It was gastronomical greatness! The flavors mingled wonderfully and even the mashed potatoes weren't heavy. I was so impressed! This was not what I was expecting. It far exceeded my expectations. I can only speak for breakfast, but slow and flavorless are the two words that come to mind. I ordered and consumed the 'power breakfast' in a moment of poor judgement. My wife had the huevos ranchero which while it did have a flavor profile, acrid was my thought when I tasted it. Crummy food gets a couple stars from me when the service is good but that redeeming quality was missing as well. We enjoyed long periods of pleasant weather between ordering, being served and leaving. Actually I think bringing out check may have been an afterthought or we were just forgotten about. Summary...really really bad steaks and very very blunt steak knives paired perfectly with courteous yet unattentive service. My family and I dined here, my boys and I ordered NY Strip and Porterhouse cuts. Food arrived 25 minutes after ordering ( during which no sign of server or bread) steaks arrived cold, undercooked and rubbery. Due to the very blunt steak knives I could barely cut the steaks. Medium rare came out mostly uncooked, even after the steaks were sent back we discovered that over 35% of the NY Strip was fat and the Porterhouse had a huge piece of connective tissue. The uncooked Porterhouse was served over the poblano potatoes. Serving them on the side could have prevented the runoff juices from soaking the potatoes. The sofrito rice had no flavor and appeared to be made with just green food color. The asparagus was limp and super soft, no texture. I only tried one bite of the sautéed Rapini that seemed too oily/buttery. IMO they should just feed Rapini to the pigs. My wife had fish tacos, Mahi Mahi tasted like over cooked chicken breast. How do you mess up black beans in the southwest? We sat outside and when the fire went low and finally went out, no one came to fix it, had to actually ask a couple times, finally it was fixed towards the end of the meal. Apparently cigars are allowed while you are eating, with kids around. A Subway sandwich would have been a better ending to our day. read more

Whenever I go here I always enjoy the flat iron steak and a good wine. I love coming here because the food is always great! But I have never been wowed by the service; my last visit being the worst. Out server was polite and courteous, but I just think she was a bad server. She kept on forgetting things, like my friend's drink and the fact that she didn't want salt on the rim, she was flighty throughout the meal, and she brought our check and then asked if we wanted it split (not to mention after my mother asked for the local discount out server asked if we wanted to charge it to our room). After a dinner where we waited 20-25 minutes before being asked for drinks or given a wine menu, we then went for our breakfast and we're not acknowledged for another 20 minutes. We wanted dinner elsewhere tonight but everywhere was booked (perhaps because the hotel restaurant service was so bad?) so we decided to have room service. Suckers for punishment? It seems so. Since the hotel gave us a gift certificate for 2 drinks for our Anniversary, we returned, accepted their offer, and also noshed on their pretzel knots which were delicious but overpriced at $11.00. The bartender at the time didn't really give a rat's patootie whether we were there or not and apparently had better things to do. After that experience, we decided to definitely not return to the bar for drinks, and it turned us away from eating at the restaurant although we had a number of opportunities to do so.
