I stumbled across this salon on the Vagaro website. While there is a bad review for Alyssa here on yelp, I still wanted to give her a try. I have hair half way down my back and prefer low maintenance. Alyssa listened to my concerns, showed me the color options, and let me choose. The color and the cut are perfect! I decided to get my hair cut today - at about 4 PM - and it was a get it done today or I may change my mind kind of thing. I called several salons with no luck, and then I called Shadez. I spoke to Isabel, and she was super sweet and willing to get me in on short notice. I went in at 6:15, and even though it was the end of her day, and she was concurrently helping what appeared to be a less experienced stylist, she was very accommodating and friendly. I liked her right away, and hoped I would also like my hair! I did - I do! She seemed to completely "get" my hair and its singular issues, and took the time to explain the best way for me to style it and work with it. I have been going to Isabelle since she first opened this place. I am an older 65 yr old woman and have fine curly hair. I want low maint. haircuts and Isabelle does not disappoint. She always makes my hair look great even though I only come to see her twice a year. My latest cut, highlights are the best ever! Makes me feel so good after these years of COVID. I went in for an appointment yesterday with Alyssa and she is a very friendly, kind and super nice individual so I'm not upset with her Customer Service however I'm very disappointed with how my hair turned out... I went it with a picture, I wanted my hair mostly blonde with some natural root at the scalp for easy maintenance because I don't get to do my hair often and I left with my hair pretty much looking exactly the same as when I walked in except for some tiny thin blonde highlights running through the top portion of my hair which can hardly be seen and the brassy tone from the blonde that was already in my hair had been toned down with a purple shampoo she used.... If I had requested that look then I'd say she did a good job but I didn't want that look and the point is that it's NOT even remotely close to what I wanted done at all. I was polite, I thanked her, I tipped her, I paid $90 in total but I got in my car and cried on my way home because I looked in the mirror again a few times and saw pretty much the same hair I walked in with and now I was $90 in the hole and will have to come up with another $190 for her to do my hair how it looks in the picture because I explained to her after she styled it that I wanted blonde like how the pic is that I showed her and she said I'll have to come back and pay again since what she did didn't turn out how I wanted... She originally told me the pic was a Baylage but suggested she could do a feather highlight with blonde to give the same look but it was the cheaper route... So I figured "well if she's saying she can do the same look but with a less expensive method then it makes sense to do it"... So I trusted her esp since I showed a pic of what I wanted but my end result was not at all even close to the picture. I came in with a 2 year old grown out blonde ombre and walked out with a 2 yr old grown out ombre and some hardly visible tiny blonde highlights running through the top portion of my virgin hair.... I'm not mean so I didn't make a fuss about it and paid her but I'm almost 8 mos pregnant and only my husband works, I saved up money to get my hair done and won't be able to come up with the funds to get my hair fixed. My family/maternity photo session is in a week which is why I wanted my hair done and I'm stuck like this. My husband and kids didn't even notice a difference in my hair at all when I got home except that it was styled.... I just thought I'd share because today I'm so disappointed and don't understand how something like this could happen when I had a picture.... I give one star only because she was very nice and personable. As for my hair, I'm not happy at all. I've added pics to show what my hair looked like before I got to the salon, what it looked like after she was done and what I wanted.... All the blonde in the lower portion of my hair after she finished, was the grown out blonde ombre I already had! read more

I went in with no appointment (I know bad forum) and Alyssa was able to get me in for a hair cut. First off this salon is amazing the decor the people all friendly and welcoming. Ok so she was able to get me in between clients. She did an amazing job! She listens to what I wanted gave her professional opinion and gave me and amazing cut! This was an experience I won't for get and I'll be back in a few weeks for more services. It's all local, quality stylist and I love supporting local business and people. Take the time to make and appointment you will not regret it I promise! I can. It wait to see what the future hold for this salon as they are growing and adding services. read more

Is there anything is this girl CANT DO!? Tamera (the esthetician) at Shade Z is so thorough and precise! Everytime I've had my brows waxed elsewhere, I leave with red, puffy skin and missed hairs. Not only did Tamera take her time and actually paid attention to the shape I was wanting my brows waxed, but she made sure that I left the shop happy with how they looked! Most places will rush your session and won't even bother to wipe off excess wax off your brows, yuck! Tamera really goes the extra mile. Thank you again for my clean-cut and beautifully shaped brows! My stylist was Alyssa. I have had bad experiences with haircuts. Took me years to finally decide to cut it. I was so nervous, but when i met Alyssa she made the experience much easier and calming for me. She took the time to hear what i wanted and she did alot more than expected. She told me everything she was going to do before she did it. That made me more relaxed. I finally found my hairstylist. And the environment at SHADEZ Salon is great. They did not to my perm very well and i paid a lot of money for it. When i tried to tell the manager i didn't like it they repeatedly told me they couldn't do anything about it. They were being really rude about it and screaming instead of listening to my concern. It sucks that you have to pay a lot of money for a bad result. read more

I used a Groupon special for highlights, cut and style with Alyssa and was so pleasantly surprised at the results. She did a great job and my hair looks better than it has in a long time. Melissa is AMAZING. I have extremely stubborn Asian hair that doesn't like to cooperate for anything (color wise, esp going blonde) and Melissa does an amazing job every time! I appreciate her expertise whenever I come in, she never steers me the wrong way.
