We were immediately greeted by our bartender who had so much personality. It was so much fun. We ordered mimosas which had options for different juices. I went with cranberry, my husband went with orange juice. And our bartender was awesome and provided us with eyedroppers to be able to put in as much juice as we would like. That was a special touch. I ordered the Do I still look big in these pants? for breakfast and all the flavors were so fantastic, they came out quickly, and the side of fruit was actually delicious fruit. Full of blueberries and strawberries. The restaurant itself was bustling the whole time we were there, but the ambience was great. First time dining here after recently moving to town, and was very impressed! It looked really busy upon driving in, but was seated within 5 minutes! The service was pretty quick too for how busy the restaurant was. And the restaurant itself was a fun atmosphere too, with writing all over the walls! And the whole store, including bathrooms were clean. The menu is really fun, and the food was even better! The Shack had surprisingly good food. The quality was solid, the cooking was well done, and there was a pretty good selection overall. From a food standpoint, they're doing a lot right. Where things started to fall apart for me was the atmosphere and presentation. The whole "money on the walls, crayon graffiti everywhere, sign-any-surface-you-want" aesthetic probably felt trendy and edgy in the late 90s or early 2000s. Back then it gave off a quirky, punk-rock personality. In 2026, though, it just feels dated, cluttered, and honestly a little dirty. The menu has the same problem. The item names are so overcomplicated and "obscure for the sake of being obscure" that it becomes distracting instead of creative. There's a difference between having personality and trying too hard to be edgy. This place doesn't need a total reinvention because the food is already good. But it does need a refresh. Clean up the decor. Modernize the branding. Simplify the menu presentation. Keep the character, but evolve with the times. Sometimes being creative means knowing when it's time to let go of a trend that worked 25 years ago and build something fresh again. read more

In town for a concert and saw this place online and had to give it a try. Was able to join a waitlist before leaving our hotel and show up with not much of a wait. Ordered The Classic, two scrambled eggs, two sausage links, biscuit and I substituted fresh fruit for the hash browns. Unfortunately, everything came out cool. This was only acceptable for the fresh fruit. This was my first time eating at this location. This hasn't occurred at the Valley Park or Creve Coeur locations. This was very disappointing. The other meal served to our table arrived hot/warm. The eggs tasted awful. So did the biscuit and sausage links. Met a friend here for an early (9am) breakfast on a Sunday. I ordered a hash brown skillet with only bacon, scrambled eggs, onion, and cheese. I wasn't into the other meats and vegetables. My breakfast date ordered some kind of vegetable egg thing. So my breakfast was on a skillet but it wasn't really hot. I'm not a breakfast person and I find the menu here kind of lackluster. The restaurant itself is such a vibe with big signs, funny sayings, and writing on the walls. We didn't have to wait at all! Which we were surprised not only because the parking lot was full but also when we left there was a line of people waiting. The food came out quick and really hit the spot. So much yum! Located in a small strip mall, there is a decent amount of parking available. Be prepared to wait, as this place is hopping! Sunday breakfast was about a 45 min wait, I was told that the wait time is longer if you do more brunch time. I was told by someone that there is an app you can use to check in with when you are on the way, will have to investigate if we are in the area to try again. The place is large, but sectioned off. We were seated in the bar area. Service was slow at first, but eventually found a flow. Space was clean - but patrons can write on the walls, etc. The menu has quirky names but everything we tried was top notch. Pork belly tacos, breakfast burritos, hash brown bake, and French toast sticks. Everything was quite delicious and we would all order again. Came here for brunch on a Tuesday. We were able to get in get seated and get our beverages all within five minutes. That day they said that their truck was a little behind because of the snow which was fine. We really like the open honesty. I got the breakfast tacos and the person that I was with got the Hash meal. Everything tasted great. It came out hot and fresh. The only thing I didn't like where my hashbrowns were almost too crispy. It was really hard to chew them. So I only ate my tacos. I wish there was a way to not get the hashbrowns and also have some funds come out of your check. That way you're not wasting food and you're not paying for something that you're not going to get. Wifey had a skillet, I had the croissant breakfast sandwich (called something about a dad and affliction tshirt)...excellent! The bacon was outstanding and nice crispy hashbrowns...not the soggy type that can occur at other joints. Would have easily rated it a solid 5 if not for the really SLOW service. We've been going to The Shack for years but hadn't been in a while. We had brunch there on a Saturday late morning and, as usual, they were busy! We grabbed a few seats at the bar instead of waiting for a table. The place is large with tons of seating and always seems to be staffed well. We had menus and drinks right away. We've never had bad service at the locations we've been to, and we had great service again. Our food was delicious! The biscuits and gravy were pretty good - and I'm kind of picky when it comes to them. The gravy wasn't hot enough at all, but I ate it the way it was instead of sending it back. It's back on our radar now, so I imagine we'll be back sometime soon! read more

This was our first time here and we were blown away. The restaurant has a very casual cute vibe. We sat outside and it was very comfortable. I ordered the Natorious BN biscuits and gravy with over medium eggs and bacon. Amazing. The sausage gravy was on of the best I've had. My eggs were over light, not medium and that's why I rated at a 4. My mom got the Because I Can EZ eggs and sausage on French toast. Delish. The French toast was really really good. They have the classics, of course, but also scrumptious concoctions that intrigue and then turn out even more delicious. We had in their biscuit and gravy, with huge fluffy biscuits topped with sausage gravy, a breakfast burrito stuffed with breakfast meats and eggs, smothered in queso and chili topped with Fritos. I really don't like speaking poorly of places but the food here, at least the breakfast we had, was a big no. The breakfast tacos were made with an omelette like egg. There was nothing Mexican about these tacos. The French toast was soggy. Wet bread is a big no for me. Between us, we managed to eat the chicken fried steak but it was average. I really wanted to like this place given the reviews but it was underwhelming. I should add that I shared all of this with the restaurant and they took the orders off our bill.
