    Tom Yum and TONKOTSU
    Jenny Y.

We decided to come here for dinner on a Thursday around 6 PM. There were already two tables dining and another party was seated at the same time as us, so there was no wait. There was only one server handling both taking orders and bringing out food. It took a little while for him to take our order after we were seated, but he did a solid job making sure everything we ordered made it to the table. We did have to get up a few times to get his attention while he was hanging out near the kitchen prep area. We tried the AYCE option at $38 per person. Each pot comes with two broth choices. The price isn't bad, but I feel like they could offer a few more seafood options and maybe include some appetizers. The beef selection and vegetables were good, but for seafood they only offered fish roe balls, shrimp and mussels. The shrimp being peeled was definitely a plus. Appetizers are only included with the premium AYCE set, which is $78 per person. There's also a sauce bar. I made my sauce the same way I usually do at Seapot and GoGi, but the ponzu was a bit too sour and the sesame sauce was pretty bland. Overall, I wasn't disappointed with the experience, but I don't think this would become one of my go-to hot pot spots.

Shabu Shack is everything I'm looking for in a shabu restaurant. My husband and I got the AYCE and were very satisfied with all the options. The sauce bar has a great selection of sauces and condiments. The veggies were fresh and the meat of very decent quality. When we came in for a weekday dinner, there was only 1 server working the front of the restaurant. We got a bit concerned as more customers came trickling in but he was super on point and attended to all our needs. Parking: Plenty of parking in shared lot

I've been here multiple times and they truly never disappoint. We came in on a Sunday night and had no problem getting seated as a party of two, which was such a nice surprise. The ambiance is lively and welcoming, and everything feels clean and well organized. Service is always quick, which I appreciate when I'm already hungry and ready to cook! We did the AYCE and ordered the tonkatsu and sukiyaki broths (our first time trying the sukiyaki and we loved it). The meat quality here is seriously so good. Our favorites are the toro and wagyu -- so tender and flavorful every single time. I also have to shout out that they serve enoki mushrooms, which I get way too excited about since a lot of other spots just stick to king oyster. It's the little things! They actually have a self-serve sauce bar now and I love being able to mix and match and create my own perfect sauce combo. It makes the whole experience even more fun and customizable. Our server was quick, friendly, and checked on us regularly without being overbearing. His recommendations were spot on and made the meal even better. We'll definitely keep coming back. Shabu Shack is officially one of our go-to hot pot spots in Elk Grove!

Medium & large American wagu orders with udon and rice. Tom yum & spicy miso soup broths

We came here for dinner on a weekday night and there were plenty of open tables and we were seated right away. How it works is that each person can order their choice of meat, broth, carb choice (rice, vermicelli noodles, udon noodles, or ramen noodles), and by default it comes with mixed veggies plate but you can always swap out the options as you like although some subs will be for an extra fee. I ordered a medium American wagu portion with udon noodles, tom yum soup base, and the default veggies. My husband ordered the large American wagu portion with rice, spicy miso, and default veggies. The sauces were all self-serve at a bar station. I enjoyed the tom yum soup base and the spicy miso was also good but it had a bit of that numbing spice which I can only enjoy about 1 small bowl of before I need a break from the spice. Although we didn't drink on this particular night, I did see that they offer soju, sake, and other beer options. I even saw an "all you can drink" option you can do. Our server was attentive and checked on us throughout our dinner. This spot is good for a casual hot pot night or if you have a group. The options were pretty standard and more on the simple side, which was perfect for us as a casual outing. I think if people are looking for more bells and whistles and in a more upscale place, there are probably other spots to go to, but Shabu Shack is perfect for a quick and easy casual hot pot spot.

This was such a great experience from start to finish. Our waiter was super nice and really attentive, which made the whole meal feel welcoming and easy. Service honestly stood out here--everything moved quickly and smoothly. The meat came out fast and fresh, and they were really on top of bringing everything we needed without us having to ask. It made the whole shabu experience feel relaxed instead of rushed or confusing, which I really appreciated. The food itself was delicious, and it's the kind of place where you can just enjoy cooking and eating at your own pace while still getting great service. The overall vibe felt casual and comfortable, perfect for a meal with friends or family. Best for: Group dinners, cozy meals, or anyone craving hot pot in Elk Grove. Between the friendly service and how quickly everything came out, this was an easy 5 stars for me. I'll definitely be back.

Awesome customer service and the variety protein and drink is very satisfying. Bring your appetite because we weren't ready. We got the premium and it was great but i think the regular would have been good too. They also have a good selection of sauces and garnishes. Very chill and warm setting.

A perfect meal for a rainy day like today .. we walked in and the whole place was lit up and smells of deliciousness. We had the ayce choice. $38 per person and an abundance of meats and veggies and seafood to choose from. Theres a full sauce station to make your own dipping sauce! I loved it! I love spicy and there's a whole container of just chopped chili peppers! 2 thumbs up just for that! I ordered the spicy tonkatsu broth while my hubby ordered the miso broth. I love the split pots because of our different broth palette. The broth was a light meaty flavor but not too bad. I ordered some beef belly and shrimp as my protein and for veggies I had Napa cabbage and spinach and mushrooms. It was all so refreshing! The meats was fresh looking and tasting! Everything was great! Service is amazing! Server was always around when we needed something.

    Combo Special

Went here around 5:00 on a Sunday and there was a bit of a wait since the restaurant is small. There were 2 employees running around at the beginning handling a lot. The service was good once we were sat. We ordered the Shabu Combo Special so once we got all of our order we did not need anything else. The meats were great and the combo was the perfect amount for the 4 of us. I also loved their house sauce!

Really yummy and never too busy when I go. Sukiyaki is sweet, savory, and my new go to. Recommend for a rainy day or craving clean food.

This was a fun experience! Don't often do hot pot but really liked this spots friendly service. Booths fit 2 people on each side, which ai guess is standard but felt a little snug. Friendly and prompt service. Fresh selection of meat and veggies. I'll be back!

Service was on point as usual. We come here all the time for the AYCE beef toro. For the value and quality of meat, it's actually the best in Sac/Elk Grove.

Beef Belly Toro + MISO Soup
    joshua c.

Miso with Beef Belly Toro was amazing, soup was flavorful and meat was good quality and a decent serving. Would definitely come again and try the All You Can Eat (AYCE) version on another day. Overall would say this place is worth it for both per order and AYCE, service was good and build your own sauce bar was a nice touch. Ambiance was pleasant, mostly booths, and you have your own space to enjoy a meal with friends or on a casual date.

GOGI itself has evolved in thoughtful ways. Where once you relied on attentive staff to guide your order, now a sleek tablet rests at the table's edge, placing the entire menu at your fingertips.
