Shabu Shack is everything I'm looking for in a shabu restaurant. My husband and I got the AYCE and were very satisfied with all the options. The sauce bar has a great selection of sauces and condiments. The veggies were fresh and the meat of very decent quality. When we came in for a weekday dinner, there was only 1 server working the front of the restaurant. We got a bit concerned as more customers came trickling in but he was super on point and attended to all our needs. Parking: Plenty of parking in shared lot

The quality, service, and presentation have gone down. The $110 ring used to look so good with meat all over it, and now it is just a bunch of meat slap on the the plate. The pictures speak for itself.

The lunch special is a good amount of food if you're not in the mood for all you can eat. It comes with a side of veggies & rice/noodles. Tonkatsu broth is a classic and not overly salty. The sukiyaki is on the sweeter side. They've upgraded the sauce bar with more options and even a special sauce. It's kept covered and refrigerated which is nice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had spacious booths. It was cool inside which made it easy to satisfy shabu cravings on a hot day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Super friendly service! They kept checking on us and offered to refill our soup.

I've been here multiple times and they truly never disappoint. We came in on a Sunday night and had no problem getting seated as a party of two, which was such a nice surprise. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is lively and welcoming, and everything feels clean and well organized.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is always quick, which I appreciate when I'm already hungry and ready to cook! We did the AYCE and ordered the tonkatsu and sukiyaki broths (our first time trying the sukiyaki and we loved it). The meat quality here is seriously so good. Our favorites are the toro and wagyu -- so tender and flavorful every single time. I also have to shout out that they serve enoki mushrooms, which I get way too excited about since a lot of other spots just stick to king oyster. It's the little things! They actually have a self-serve sauce bar now and I love being able to mix and match and create my own perfect sauce combo. It makes the whole experience even more fun and customizable. Our server was quick, friendly, and checked on us regularly without being overbearing. His recommendations were spot on and made the meal even better. We'll definitely keep coming back. Shabu Shack is officially one of our go-to hot pot spots in Elk Grove!

Medium & large American wagu orders with udon and rice. Tom yum & spicy miso soup broths
Annie N.

We came here for dinner on a weekday night and there were plenty of open tables and we were seated right away. How it works is that each person can order their choice of meat, broth, carb choice (rice, vermicelli noodles, udon noodles, or ramen noodles), and by default it comes with mixed veggies plate but you can always swap out the options as you like although some subs will be for an extra fee. I ordered a medium American wagu portion with udon noodles, tom yum soup base, and the default veggies. My husband ordered the large American wagu portion with rice, spicy miso, and default veggies. The sauces were all self-serve at a bar station. I enjoyed the tom yum soup base and the spicy miso was also good but it had a bit of that numbing spice which I can only enjoy about 1 small bowl of before I need a break from the spice. Although we didn't drink on this particular night, I did see that they offer soju, sake, and other beer options. I even saw an "all you can drink" option you can do. Our server was attentive and checked on us throughout our dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This spot is good for a casual hot pot night or if you have a group.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The options were pretty standard and more on the simple side, which was perfect for us as a casual outing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think if people are looking for more bells and whistles and in a more upscale place, there are probably other spots to go to, but Shabu Shack is perfect for a quick and easy casual hot pot spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

So good!

This was such a great experience from start to finish. Our waiter was super nice and really attentive, which made the whole meal feel welcoming and easy. Service honestly stood out here--everything moved quickly and smoothly. The meat came out fast and fresh, and they were really on top of bringing everything we needed without us having to ask. It made the whole shabu experience feel relaxed instead of rushed or confusing, which I really appreciated. The food itself was delicious, and it's the kind of place where you can just enjoy cooking and eating at your own pace while still getting great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The overall vibe felt casual and comfortable, perfect for a meal with friends or family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Best for: Group dinners, cozy meals, or anyone craving hot pot in Elk Grove. Between the friendly service and how quickly everything came out, this was an easy 5 stars for me. I'll definitely be back.

TONKOTSU and SUKIYAKI

Our GO-TO hot pot in Elk Grove! Have been coming here for the past couple of years and their quality has always been consistently good. You can't go wrong with beef belly, and sukiyaki soup! They have a new sauce bar which allows you to customize your own sauce. Shout out to our server for recommending the sesame sauce with house spicy, so good! She was also amazingly handling about 7 tables all on her own. Great food and great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Family friendly environment and always clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

A perfect meal for a rainy day like today .. we walked in and the whole place was lit up and smells of deliciousness. We had the ayce choice. $38 per person and an abundance of meats and veggies and seafood to choose from. Theres a full sauce station to make your own dipping sauce! I loved it! I love spicy and there's a whole container of just chopped chili peppers! 2 thumbs up just for that! I ordered the spicy tonkatsu broth while my hubby ordered the miso broth. I love the split pots because of our different broth palette. The broth was a light meaty flavor but not too bad. I ordered some beef belly and shrimp as my protein and for veggies I had Napa cabbage and spinach and mushrooms. It was all so refreshing! The meats was fresh looking and tasting! Everything was great! Service is amazing! Server was always around when we needed something.

Combo Special

Went here around 5:00 on a Sunday and there was a bit of a wait since the restaurant is small. There were 2 employees running around at the beginning handling a lot. The service was good once we were sat. We ordered the Shabu Combo Special so once we got all of our order we did not need anything else. The meats were great and the combo was the perfect amount for the 4 of us. I also loved their house sauce!

This was a fun experience! Don't often do hot pot but really liked this spots friendly service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Booths fit 2 people on each side, which ai guess is standard but felt a little snug.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Friendly and prompt service. Fresh selection of meat and veggies. I'll be back!

Shabu shack has the best cuts of lamb! my daughter loves it. This is a sharing style hot pot so you do get plenty of meats seafood and sides. The music here is always very lively and such a good vibe. lastly, The staff here are very attentive polite and the service is fast. It can get very busy around dinner time so we always come right before the dinner rush theres plenty of parking but it's crowded because it is in a shopping plaza.

Shabu Shack is hand downs my boyfriend and I's favorite place to go to whenever we're craving shabu. The service is quick and efficient, they offer an à la carte menu and ayce menu as well. The meat and broth is consistently delicious. We always get the spicy Sichuan and tom yum. It's nice and bright in the restaurant feels super clean, and their music choice is a bonus :)

Awesome customer service and the variety protein and drink is very satisfying. Bring your appetite because we weren't ready. We got the premium and it was great but i think the regular would have been good too. They also have a good selection of sauces and garnishes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very chill and warm setting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

If you've been to heat shabu in midtown and like it, then you won't disappoint here either. Meat quality is awesome. AYCE is pretty identical to heat shabu. One thing that Heat Shabu wins is their Tuesday AYCE with appetizers included. I don't think they do it here. Heat shabu has a broth that my husband likes that they don't offer here at Swish but that's not a deal breaker at all. Both places offer a scoop of ice cream afterwards. Oh it's slightly cheaper than heat shabu so that's good!

I read the menu beforehand, but nowhere was it made clear that the "all you can eat" only applied to the meat. Everything else ended up being charged separately, which was never explained to us. To make matters worse, they don't even provide actual paper menus. Everything has to be viewed on your phone. Unfortunately, I had very poor cell service inside the restaurant, so I couldn't even load the menu properly. The waiter also took forever to come back around, and we were already being rushed, so it wasn't like we even had the chance to ask for a paper menu. The customer service was terrible. Our waiter never asked if it was our first time or took the time to explain how the menu worked. He barely spoke to us, dropped food off with an attitude, and made us feel like he was trying to rush us out the entire time. We arrived at 9:23 p.m. If the restaurant was already preparing to close or didn't want to seat us, they could have simply told us that last call had already happened. Instead, they seated us, rushed us through our meal, took our money, and then overcharged us because nothing was properly explained. Overall, the lack of communication, poor customer service, and confusing ordering process completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable first visit. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone looking for a welcoming dining experience.

Each hot pot station has a vent so you don't smell like hot pot at the end of the meal and smoke won't be blowing in your face during the meal. The veggies and the meat quality was so good. I loved the beef belly and brisket. The broth was excellent too - I ordered the tom yum and will probably get that base everytime. I also like that their sauces didn't have a weird after taste. I've been to other restaurants where the sauce was not fresh and tasted like tap water. They have a buffet for sauces and veggies. A drink is included, and they have a soda fountain with Coke Zero (big plus for me)! I recommend starting with the cream cheese wontons, and ending your meal with a nice condensed milk bun for dessert. The wontons are crispy and delicious and the milk bun was soft and the perfect portion! The restaurant is clean and has beautiful decorations. There are two private rooms folks can reserve as well. Inside has spacious table seating, some with booth and good lighting inside. There was ballad vietnamese music video playing. The restaurant was not busy and there were elderly men at the tables playing cards and some at another table they were chatting & drinking. Im not sure if they hold karaoke or have live bands but there is a stage with music instruments and a projector with installed party lights. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted right away. It was a bummer when they told us they didn't make ox tail or bum rieu today. Instead we ordered beef tartare, beef pho and shaken beef with rice. The beef tartare was this sliced raw beef with onion, herbs and lime which made the dish rich and savory.
