Midtown West

I told myself I was going to start bringing lunch to work. You know--be healthy, save money…read more.. maybe a nice yogurt. Right on cue, my coworker texts: "Where are we eating?" Well. That plan died instantly. We had just gone to Rocco's Steakhouse yesterday for steak... so naturally, we decided to go out for steak again. Because balance. Four of us rolled out like we had a reservation with destiny. We started strong: Grilled bacon with peanut butter and jalapeño. My coworkers loved it. I personally don't believe peanuts belong anywhere near my bacon, but I respected the chaos. Massive cocktail shrimp with three sauces--we split those like civilized people. Cobb salad, for health. Obviously. Then came: Dry-aged porterhouse meatballs with gorgonzola crema and black garlic. Good--but in my world, meatballs belong in a proper red sauce. I'm traditional like that. Main event: Bone-in dry-aged prime sirloin. Delicious. Tuscan-style, not drowning in butter. Ordered medium rare... received "this cow has a LinkedIn profile." Sides absolutely stole the show: The Quality Potato (elite) Gnocchi & cheese (life-changing) Brussels sprouts (so we can keep pretending we're making good choices) Dessert:Carrot cake ice cream slice + espresso. Because at this point, why stop? Service was amazing--our waitress and busboy were so engaging they even brought us extra cookies. I felt seen. The place itself is cozy, warm, a little industrial, and tucked below ground--like a delicious steak bunker. Anyway... I'll bring that yogurt tomorrow.Probably.

Walking into Quality Meats, it immediately feels cool and effortless (industrial, but in a really…read morepolished way). The exposed concrete, Edison bulbs, and high ceilings give it that downtown-meets-Midtown vibe that somehow still feels special, even after all these years. We ordered the tomahawk for the table, and honestly... it was a little smaller than I expected. Still perfectly cooked, just more "cute" than over-the-top. But the real stars: Definitely the bacon with jalapeño peanut butter jam so addictive, sweet and spicy all at once. I come back just for that. And the sides are everything. The mac & cheese is insanely creamy and comforting, while the Brussels sprouts are crispy, perfectly seasoned, and actually make vegetables feel fun. Overall, it's a steakhouse that gets it right, classic, chic, and reliable, but with just enough creativity to keep it interesting. Definitely a must-visit when you're in NYC and want a little luxe without feeling stuffy. I bring my parents here!

Luigi Meats - simple sandwich , but would pick this over any sandwich from other ppl's favorite spot! . and there are plenty more to choose from

First let me start with this, this is a must try place. Everything is phenomenal, whether you go in…read morefor meat, fish, or a sandwich you will not be disappointed. Prices are unbeatable, a 7in sandwich is between $6-$8 which is perfect for lunch as well as the hot food also. They don't cheap out on how much they give you either, the sandwich pictured below was only $8. Great bread. The meat is super fresh. The place does get packed by they move people along pretty quickly. Inside they have everything you need to go with anything you buy. My absolute favorite place to get a sandwich from in the area. It's very small inside so you cannot eat there.

I used to love this place, but now I'm not going back. This is the second time they messed up one…read moreof my orders, the last time I didn't even make any issue about it, but this time I asked for a sausage and pepper parm sub with no onions, and the reason I asked for no onions is because I'm allergic to onions. So of course I didn't find out that they messed up the order until I got all the way to Belleville to eat it. So I called them to complain and they said, "Sorry, hopefully next time, what can I tell you?"?! You can make good on it is what you can do, so now I'm going to another option instead. Bye-bye Luigi's. Money is tight right now, and I just wasted it. Done. What a shame. Wasn't exactly a complicated request: "sausage and pepper parm sub, no onions, light marinara". ‍

We ordered the brisket, it was cooked to perfection, the side dishes included salad, rice and mashed potatoes. Food tasted great. Next time we are in town we will come back and try something different from the menu.

Paterson, NJ - like many patrons, my husband came across this place via their tantalizing Instagram…read moreposts and urged us to go. They were busy at dinner time on a Sunday night. As many reviewers mentioned, no one bothered to acknowledge us when we arrived, so I flagged down a waitress who said we could sit whenever we want. We chose to sit in the airier covered outdoor area (which isn't exposed to the elements so is perfectly temperate even in cold weather). There were no instructions on how to order either - this seems like a basic customer service fail: is it that hard to slap up signage explaining 1-2-3, or for someone (anyone!) to greet you and ask if this is your first time here and walk you through the process? Anyway, I'm glad I read the reviews and checked out what we wanted to order beforehand, and asked questions at the cashier. Sure, it's not that hard, but one really shouldn't have to actively track down multiple staff for directions on where to go or how to order at a restaurant. The deal is: decide which meat(s) you want from the poster (there is no menu), place your order (sold by the pound) with the cashier, pay, go to your table, and a server will bring the food to you when it's ready. The meat is (at current writing) $45/lb with unlimited sides and soft drinks. We ordered 1 lb each of beef brisket and lamb shank (1 lb = 2 shanks), which was the perfect amount of food for us 2 hungry adults, 2 teens of modest appetite, and a toddler of negligible appetite. The meat is simply seasoned (Arab bbq style) and came out lukewarm, but is off-the-bone tender and we enjoyed them with the variety of sauces. There are four types of sides: cucumber & tomato salad (good), spring mix, saffron rice (fine but my toddler loved this), and mashed potatoes (bland). It is a well-balanced meal, not too heavy. The chefs are friendly and we watched one film a demo almost certainly for social media. He even let us taste some of what he was seasoning, though there were no pyrotechnics as I had hoped from seeing some of the reels. The service wasn't bad - not terribly proactive but not non-existent either, and we always received what we requested. They could do better with customer guidance, but now that I know what's up I'd come back for the food and would like to try some other meats next time. Meat Moot has many franchises across the Middle East and Turkey, and NJ is one of only 3 locations in the US (the other 2 being in the Midwest). Street parking only.
