AVOID THIS PLACE! - HALF OF MY HAIR IS GONE! I paid $235 for color and full highlights at SH Salon - Clear Lake, and I left extremely disappointed. The original stylist was Genesis. The color was not what I asked for, which is why she offered a second toner to try to correct it. However, my hair was already breaking off from the treated areas, so I left before the second toner because I was afraid more processing would make the damage worse. During the bleaching process, I noticed the bleach was dripping, which has never happened in my experience getting highlights. Then, right before being rinsed, the aluminum foil burned my scalp in an area about four inches in diameter. This is likely from the hair bleach dripping and reacting to the foil. I started noticing breakage while still in the chair, but I did not realize how bad it was until I got home and saw that the treated hair was continuing to break and fall out. There are chunks of strands of hair that have fallen out, I used to use a bigger ponytail, and not I'm having to double the ponytail for it to stay. Half of my hair has fallen out. I initially contacted Jeremiah, the Director over the SH Hair Salons, sent photos of the damage, and requested a full refund because of the breakage and incorrect color. He told me I needed to go into the store and have a manager look at my hair before any refund or resolution would be considered. Jeremiah also said he has been doing hair for 25 years and that a little bit of hair is supposed to fall out from highlights. I understand normal shedding can happen, but I have been getting highlights for around 20 years, and I have never had this much breakage, damage, or scalp discomfort. Regardless of what I say about my experience, he has downplayed what I say. I returned to the Clear Lake location and saw Libby, the manager, who tried to fix the mistake made by Genesis. She tried to salvage what she could, but a significant amount of my hair had already broken off and fallen out. She also could not get the color to match the honey blonde I originally came in for. I specifically wanted to be blonde, and the final result still does not match what I asked for. After going back in person like I was told, I continued messaging Jeremiah about a refund. Even after showing photos of my broken hair, hair that had fallen out, and the color not matching what I requested, he has not responded back to me about refunding me. My hair is fragile, breaking, visibly damaged, and still not the color I asked for. Very disappointing results, scalp discomfort during and after the appointment, and poor handling of the refund request. I would not recommend this salon. read more

Popped into SH Salon today for a trim. My first time so I wasn't sure what to expect. Although I do love having a really nice salon nearby my home. Conveniently located next to the grocery store as well. Genesis did an amazing job! I was simply seeking a trim but she out did herself with washing my hair, drying and a beautiful trim and style as well! I will definitely be back! Highly recommended! read more

I've been going there for a year and have been pleased with every visit. I've had cuts, color, shampoo and blowouts. All have been pleasing. I was actually very disappointed with my service. I came in for a tint retouch. I had less that half an inch of new growth. Instead of just coloring my new growth the stylist colored about 4 inches. So that left me with light brown roots and a dark brown (where she overlapped) band and then light ends. When I mentioned this to the stylist she told me she had to do it that way. No offer to correct or even discount service. So I paid 85+ tip horribly uneven hair color. I understand that things happen but the fact there was no effort to correct or compensate was very disappointing. You can go to a high end salon and pay less for a tint retouch and get better customer service and results. I definitely will not be visiting this salon again. They have no idea how to blow dry hair at all. I showed a photo of beach waves and got a frizzy mess! I explained to the stylist she needs to use a round boar bristle brush to create beach waves, she had no idea how to do this. She had no idea how to smooth cowlicks either. I made a 2pm appointment one week prior. I walked in at 2:05pm and no one was there at the front other than one lady who was busy cutting someone's hair. They did not get started on my hair till 2:45pm: no respect for customers' time. I told them I need to leave by 3pm. A blowout should not take more than 1 hour. I had already washed my hair right before coming to the salon. Did not offer water or anything and didn't bother to apologize for being late. Very disorganized and unprofessional salon. My son went in for a haircut and came out with a buzz cut he didn't ask for. Ruined his hair. He kept telling the stylist I want you to use shears , I don't want a buzz cut. And she kept saying yeah I know I will get to that. He repeatedly told her it's not what he wanted. When she stopped it was too late . Then she had the nerve to say she thinks it looks pretty good. Are you serious?? If the customer tells you it's not what they want , you stop and listen. He has been there other times and has never had this happen. This place has lost a client for good and no one we know will be getting any recommendations to go here. If a stylist doesn't know the difference between shears or clippers it is a cause for concern. I've been in twice and both times left happy with the service! Granted, I've only gotten trims so I can't speak to how they'd do with anything complicated, but I *can* say that both times, my hairstylist was meticulous and double checked with me on exactly what I wanted (how much/little to cut, layers or no, etc). They really take the time to ensure they do a good job (even on something as simple as a trim!) which I really appreciate! A women's haircut is about $23 if I remember correctly, not including tip. (I don't know if the price varies by hair length, but I have long hair if it matters.) I also inquired about getting my hair ombred (which would require bleaching before dye) and they estimated it'd be $85-100 based on how long my hair is (mid back) - way more affordable than the first time I got my hair ombred years ago! I'll definitely come back for that in the coming months and I'll be sure to update then. Based on what I've seen so far though, I trust they'll do a good job! SH Salon is located in the strip right next to HEB. You'll see it conveniently tucked away next to a nail salon. Parking is ample as it's all one big ol' lot. Don't worry too much if you forget to make an appointment (unless of course you're planning on getting a 2-3 hour dye job) - I did walk in both times but the first time I visited, it was really busy so I had a 20min wait for an available stylist. I just moved to the area and needed a new place for my haircuts. I hate getting my hair done because I have had some bad ones at major chains. I set up an appointment and they got me in the same day. I was also there for the $12 men's cut this past Tuesday. Shabana N. brought in her three boys who were unruly and undisciplined brats. They immediately ran to unoccupied salon chairs and started pumping them up and running around the place. I don't blame them for not giving you the $8 kids cut you wanted instead of the $12 men's cut special. I had a wonderful experience and great service. Maybe you should keep your kids on a leash in public, my dog is better behaved and still has to have one. read more
