When my former aesthetician closed up shop, I asked my friends for their waxing recommendations. Without question, SF Manscaping came up the most. Now I know why. Best waxing experience I've had to date. Super central location. All-in-all, 10 out of 10! Highly recommend. read more

I've never had my body hair groomed so was a bit nervous. However once I met Gilbert and saw his facility I was put at ease. I found Gilbert to be entirely professional and diligent. My chest and torso and shoulders and arms were beautiful groomed. Still looked natural but groomed. So I was very satisfied. The experience was pleasant and mission accomplished. I def would go back again when needed. Location was also conveniently located! read more

I had my first Brazilian wax with Gil. It went great. He made me feel very comfortable with the process, answered all my questions over email, and the process itself was smooth and relatively painless. The studio was clean and upbeat. I'll definitely go back to him again in the future if I get more waxing done. Highly recommend. read more

Gil is the absolute best! I went there because I had messed up while trimming and he totally salvaged it and made it look exactly the way I wanted it to. I have sensitive skin yet I had no irritation whatsoever afterwards. He even followed up a couple of days later to make sure everything was fine! Definitely going back there soon. read more

Great experience from start to finish and could not recommend more highly. Very convenient location for public transit on Bart and Muni and the Union Square parking garage is only a few blocks away so quick walk over. The space is small and private so no worries about folks wandering by when you're getting your waxing done. This was especially important since I was getting some intimate areas done. Gil is such a chill and cool person. He explained everything along the way and really put me at ease, especially since this was my first time ever doing anything like this. It very quickly just felt like a pretty normal hair cut even though the hair being groomed was very different. He answered all my questions, even the slightly dumb ones, and explained everything along the way. He also has a very gentle touch and the pain I was expecting never materialized. He's also very thorough and went back to grab any strays too so if you're waxing you'll be sure to get that smooth finish you want. As weird as it sounds, I am definitely looking forward to my next visit! read more

Let's be honest. When it comes to the price of beauty, there are really only three big variables: 1. Is this going to hurt like a mofo? 2. Is this going to be embarrassing? 3. Is this going to be expensive? The answer to these questions, is simply, yes. Absolutely. Painful*, embarrassing**, and expensive***. Review over. * Gil does a great job at minimizing how painful the process is. He reminds me to take an aspirin or ibuprofen beforehand to take the edge off, ensures I'm properly hydrated, and continues to check-in regarding his technique to make certain that my discomfort is minimal. ** Gil does a fantastic job at minimizing the embarrassment factor. Let's face it, you don't come to a place like this because you want a classy gentleman's shave and a haircut, sitting in your Armani suit. You come here because you have back hair that makes people lobby that the census should be inclusive with a "wookie" category in 2013. You come here because somebody will be looking at your naughty parts and they want them to resemble an adult film star and not a neglected piece of shrubbery. So face the inevitable... if you want a part that doesn't see the light of day much to be professionally groomed, you're going to, at some point, have to show that part brazenly so that the aesthetician can do his job. Pull of your big-boy pants and get into the downward dog. Ain't nothing he hasn't seen before. *** Gil minimizes his overhead, charges very reasonably, and yet gives you professional grade service. You could have it done cheaper, but you may limp home before calling a dermatologist to get a skin graft replaced when some paraprofessional who's taken a 12 hour course takes three layers of epidermis off of your taint along with your short and curlies. Is this really a gamble you're willing to take to save another $10? Skip the morning latte for two days and keep your undercarriage intact, priorities people, priorities. Okay, now I'm done. Gil is awesome. Okay, now I'm really done. read more

Excelent service. It was my first time manscaping and Gil walked me through the process and was so helpful and patient suggesting if I wanted the hair shorter or try to shave other areas. 10 out of 10 experience will definitely recommend read more

Gil is so nice and friendly. He did a great job communicating with me before, during, and after our appointment.

Gil was great--got me scheduled in quickly and efficiently. First time waxing my crack ("bum" as he calls it), but he made what I expected to be an awkward and painful experience relatively comfortable and painless. Gil is friendly & disarming which makes the experience quick and easy. And he's clearly an expert, so you know that you are in good hands. read more

I had a Brazilian done along with my legs and underarms, and Gil was wonderful! He was patient and explained everything to me as questions came up, and it was clear he knew what he was doing. As a first timer waxing downstairs I wasn't sure how things would go. I was, however, reassured by Gil's prompt responses and answers to the questions I had. Booked an appointment and went to see him. After introductions and explanations of how the process worked I disrobed and let him do his thing. I've previously waxed my back and the first time is always the worst. This was similar but the prep and aftercare helped take the sting out of it. Just a few seconds of discomfort was well worth the result. I'm about a week in and things are nice and clean down there. Beats the odd ingrown hair and inconvenience of shaving. I'd definitely recommend Gil and sfmanscaping. What could have been an awkward and uncomfortable experience turned to an (almost) fun session. Drop any inhibitions you may have and trust that you're in the hands of an expert. The salon was squeaky clean, the procedure simple and the conversation engaging. Actually looking forward to the next visit as I know the worst is over. read more

This was my first time ever being waxed anywhere. What a great !experience. I had ALL the extra special sensitive areas done and I expected it to be painful but Gil was so skilled that not only didn't it hurt but I rather enjoyed it. In anticipation of the pain I had stopped to grab a mini bottle of tequila because I read somewhere it helps with the pain but when I got there he already an assortment of adult beverages available. A couple shots of vodka made the whole thing a lot of fun. While waxing this time was just an experiment I wouldn't hesitate to go back should I want to do it again! read more

Thank you! My first time using your service and I'm now a lifetime customer. I could not have been happier with the outcome. Gil is the man! Very clean space. Quiet and private. Accessible by Bart and Muni. Parking a few blocks away. Gil is very professional, skilled and highly qualified. He's pretty chill, sweet gently guy who just and puts you at ease. I lost my regular waxer after many years when she retired. I was fortunate enough to find Gil through a friend's referral and I have been going to him for over 3 years now. It's been rough when things closed down during the pandemic but I'm so glad he made it through and is back open again! read more

It was my first time and I was pretty nervous but Gil made me feel at ease. He is professional and although it was a little painful, LOL I got through it. Gil is a consummate professional and a really nice guy. He really made me feel I was in good hands through the whole process. I was nervous going in, and by the end I felt quite at ease, due to his calming comportment and clear expertise. 10/10 would highly recommend and plan on going back in the near future. I also just want to mention that Gil is a very interesting person as well (ask him about his newspaper subscription), and an excellent conversationalist, so it was a pleasure to spend an hour talking with him. read more

Gil was fantastic! Great customer service. Location was clean and discreet. The equipment used did not hurt at all. Detailed to perfection...! I feel so fresh and clean after my appointment with Gil. I'm really impressed with the professionalism, customer service and care that I received. It's hard to find 'your people' ie: nails/hair/wax/auto repair etc to take care of you. I've been to the best in Beverly Hills and now I've been to the BEST in SF! read more

Gil is a total sweetheart and a joy to talk to. He makes the waxing process (which sounded super scary to a newbie like me!) as relaxing and painless as possible. I was nervous to wax again after a bad experience last year. I did some research and settled on Gil at SF Manscaping. Just after making my appointment Gil provided me with a pre-wax document. He told me the best way to prep for my appointment and asked me questions about my skin routine and general health. I thought this was a nice touch and it made me feel good about his level of concern and professionalism for a new client. I felt like I was in good hands. The location in the Financial District is a BIG DRAW form me. I can walk from BART or my office. I can pop in on my way home, at lunch or the middle of that day. They say location, location, location - Gil has the perfect location. From the moment I arrived, Gil was warm and welcoming. He talked me through the entire procedure and took time to tell me the type of wax he uses on different parts of the body and how he preps the skin for waxing. I had a business meeting scheduled shortly after my waxing and he kept an eye on the time and provided me with updates so I never had to worry about how much time I had left or if I would make it in time. After every wax strip Gil asked if I was ok. Gil was so professional and so clearly talented at what he does, the procedure went great! Gil gave me after-wax instructions and told me what to expect. I was so nervous about breaking out again, but is was great! I love the results! No rash and no issues! I am so happy to have found Gil! See you in 6 weeks, Gil! :) read more

After moving back to SF recently I was looking for a new waxer (because I will be semi-naked in public for a show in two days, not that you really care why). I've been to places in NYC and Portland, and Gil was by far the best esthetician I've been to for waxing services. It was the least painful waxing experience I've ever had. I barely felt anything, so I was a little skeptical if he was actually doing a thorough waxing; but sure enough my back, neck, and shoulders were super smooth, and there was almost no redness whatsoever, another first. He took the time to explain the difference between hard and soft wax and why he used one or the other on a particular area. He also talked to me about after-care exfoliation, which no one had ever done before. For the best possible service his prices were lower than the other places I considered, which made the appointment that much more worthwhile for the slight journey I had to take to his studio. The space is on the second floor of a building solely dedicated to hair, cosmetologists, and estheticians. It's a really nice area of the building, and Gil's studio was very clean and organized (which is something that becomes important after you've seen things like overflowing trash cans of waxing strips with chunks of someone else's hair covering them or foreign objects floating in the wax pot at other places I've been to). It's kind of awkward being exposed in front of a stranger who is going to be removing hair from your body, but the conversation during the procedure flowed easily and Gil is a really nice guy. I will definitely go back to him next time I will be unclothed in public, or if I ever get a date. read more
