I have been meaning to try the food at SF Kitchen because I read on their on-line menu, they offered ox tail; so, today, I dropped by to pick up an order of the ox tail pot and the beef stew pot with a side of steamed rice, and I honestly say both dishes were delicious. When I entered the restaurant, they had a few diners plus another lady waiting for her to-go order. I ordered to-go as well and what impressed me about this establishment, other than the great tasting food was how absolutely well-mannered the proprietress was; she got the door for the customer ahead of me because that customer had her hands full; that was truly nice of her. In the brief interaction with her and the gentleman, they seem to earnestly appreciate each customer or potential customer that walks in the door, and I like that. So, in summation, this was a good initial visit and I look forward to trying the other items on their menu. read more

It was snowing during lunch time yesterday, so I drove to this place to order a hot bowl of pho. Service was fast and friendly. I was sat upon arrival and handed a menu. I decided on the bowl of pho with rare beef and and meatballs. Oh my goodness, it was AMAZING! The broth was perfect, hot and flavorful. The staff was attentive and I was in and out within 30 mins. To be honest, I've eaten at 3 Vietnamese restaurants this past week bc my mom is in town & she said this one is her favorite so far. I was very happy with my tofu and veggie pho. The broth was good, lots of noodles, lots of veggies and tofu, & the veggies were perfectly crisp in the soup. I tried the bun Bo hue & the broth was good too! It taste very authentic & not like old meat.. There wasn't any pork hock or blood cubes. I actually prefer it this way. Both lunch plates were good & you can get them with fried rice. We came as a family of 14 and they charge 18 percent extra for larger groups. We were willing to pay the extra 18 percent, but it took too long to get a table for all of us. So, we separated our group to smaller tables. The manager working there did not let us because she clearly wanted the extra money and was greedy. My family forgot to order some drinks, and when we asked the staff, they replied angrily. Also, for a high price, the food was bland, too oily, and comes in a small portion. Surprised I hadn't left a review of this place, it's been my favorite Vietnamese restaurant for a couple years now. The vermicelli and rice bowls are my favorites, always fresh ingredients, same with the summer rolls. Broth in the soups are always flavorful as well. I'd avoid any of the battered Chinese dishes, not my favorite. Highly recommend the lemongrass dish from the Chinese menu. Staff is the best, and although they can get overwhelmed they are still super friendly and accommodating. Good for a casual lunch or dinner. read more

My wife and i eat here once a month and every time feel like the first. The care the chefs take when preparing the food is second to none. The quality of service you are giving is amazing. You really do feel like family and friends. Our drinks never went passed half way. They always asked how we are doing. Heads up - this review is for some takeout I ordered. I ate it within a half an hour of ordering it, as well, so it was as fresh as possible. I really wanted to like this place more than I did. The person at the front counter was so nice and kind, and kinda got my hopes up about the food since I had never been there before. Unfortunately what I got was so "meh" it makes me not wanna go back - although my hope is that other, more popular dishes would be much better than what I got, which is standard takeout fare. Speaking of what I got - the way they do things here is different than what I'm used to. You can order various proteins in various styles. For instance, I got general pork instead of general chicken. It came with a side of rice, and I ordered a side of steamed veggies. Just that was $24 bucks. Which I was fine paying - because I assumed the food was gonna be great, with good portions. Both of those assumptions proved false. Average portions, with meh results. It wasn't a styrofoam clamshell plate, it was small boxes. Which would have been fine ...... If the food had been great. It wasn't. Let's start with the general pork. Mushy, bland breading. Such a bunmer. Pork wasn't tough, but wasn't seasoned very well. The sauce they used tasted pretty good, which made the mushy breading all the more sad. I'm used to general chicken being crispy, crunchy, saucy, spicy, sweet and salty... Hitting all those notes. This stuff? Saucy and sweet. That's it. Considering this was the main component of my order, it really knocked the review score. Thankfully they included some chili oil, which it very much needed flavor wise, but again, the mushy breading really messed this dish up. The white rice? It was fine. Cooked well, a nice texture. Steamed veggies? Well cooked. Still crunchy. Unsalted. Both the veggies and rice were supposed to be blank canvases to enhance the general pork... Which was a letdown. Because of the unfortunate lack of quality with the general pork not justifying the smaller than expected portion size and higher than expected cost.... 2 out of 5 stars. read more

Now there is nothing that makes this pace particularly special I chose to come here as I was looking at the reviews but unfortunately I was quite disappointed the service isn't very warm and friendly it was a hassle to get it to go box also too you could tell that they already had pre-cooked the items and just toss them in two different sauces one for the general cell and one for the honey garlic the service is very Bland it's like they're running this place for years and they could care less who comes and who stays the broccoli on the platter was cold and then the sauce was hot and then the rice was lukewarm now I will admit they do serve fast but once again you get what you're paying for the bathroom was worse some gas station bathrooms. We were a big walk in party of 13 and they were able to accommodate us for lunch on the Saturday after Black Friday/ Thanksgiving. Their front host is also the waitress so she was often moving back and forth to seat people, take orders, check on the kitchen, sort to go orders and close out the checks. We perused the menu and asked right away for the clay pot catfish dish since we know clay pot dishes take longer and she refused to take the pre-order and insisted to write everyone's full order first after we were seated. Vietnamese drip coffee - had a bit of Thai tea flavor but overall was nice and strong, and we are pretty picky about our Vietnamese coffee. Honey Walnut prawns - lots of mayo and had nice citrus orange hints to it. Different from usual - batter was slightly crunchy. We liked it. Salt and Pepper chicken - loved the fresh slivers of onion and green onions, Thai chili peppers were nice and spicy... chicken was good. Nothing to crave or come back for. Oxtail Pho - super soft and tender! Although the ox tails themselves were missing a pinch of salt, the broth made up for it by being borderline salty. Would ask for it again and let them know cut back on the salt. Egg noodles were mushy for most at our table but letting them know next time will solve that. Would definitely come back for this again. 4/5 for this Beef stew in clay pot - excellent flavor. Also very very tender. A pinch too salty but to be expected with clay pot dishes. Would definitely come back and order this again. Clay pot cat fish - not what we were expecting. On the saltier side overall. Served as round steak instead of fillets or pieces. Had nice sections of fat but couldn't really enjoy it since it was salty. Would not order this again. Especially since it came very late, 2nd to the last dish well after most of the food was served. Even if she allowed pre-ordering - it would still have been late and not worth the wait. Bun Bo Hue - spicy! Had lots of perfectly cooked pork blood cubes, meat very tender, overall a great dish but noodles were on the mushy side. No chewiness. Would not crave for this or come back this overall. But good to order if you want a dish you won't regret and if you like spicy. Wonton noodle soup - requested egg noodles and it was good. Wontons were big and hearty. Thicker and on the doughier side, but not in a bad way. We are picky since we make very thin dough wontons at home but the kids liked and ate it so it's good! Meat inside it was excellent. Eggplant in black bean sauce chicken special - saw this on a bunch of reviews and we were hyped up to try it -- we were disappointed. Eggplants were cooked on the slightly firmer side which I liked. As it warmed down it got softer. Just a regular eggplant dish. Nothing to crave. It was delicious, and the black bean sauce was excellent but not something to make this restaurant stand out. We asked for no carrots due to food allergy but not only did they forgot the no carrots, they forgot to make this dish altogether. They were very apologetic but I wouldn't have charged for it since it arrived so late that other people were almost done eating. Luckily we had decided to share some of our soups but forgetting the dish and the food allergy request was definitely a buzz kill. Lastly, this place had a decent parking lot. There is a weird single table at the front where a waiting area must have previously been. Older smaller tables for two are combined to make bigger tables. Just ok ambience overall. Bathrooms are still horrendous smelling. Would not use it unless you can hold your breath the whole time. read more

Comfortable place with friendly, attentive and nice service. There are lots of choices on their extensive menu. We ordered off of the daily special lunch menu and got Mongolian beef, sweet and sour shrimp, tofu with veggies and shrimp with broccoli. You then could choose fried rice or white rice and it came with egg drop soup. Prices for lunch were great at about $13.50-15.00. I wanted to give this place 5 stars, But the food wasn't 5 stars, 4 is perfect for this place. Don't get me wrong, try this place it's good! But it's just missing that ompft in taste. Wow, not sure if it was because I was super hungry or the food just seemed very fresh and amazing. But this place is the beenees or however you spell that. Haha. They're Bun Bo hue is soooo good. You can see all the spices they use to make this and you can surely taste it. When I'm around this way I always stop by and know any of the soups I get here will make me feel warm and cozy even on these scorching hot summer days. They service is amazing also. Always greeted at the front and they make sure they make you feel at home. They are super sweet and they remember your orders without writing them down. One waitress kind of messed up my first order, she gave me spring rolls instead of egg rolls but it was ok. But the other times I've been here always welcoming and they always gave great recommendations to what you felt like eating that day. read more
