SF Kitchen serves Vietnamese and Chinese food. Parking is plentiful. The interior is clean. Service is fast. My favorite appetizer is their summer rolls. It is packed with flavor of the grilled pork. My husband ordered Mongolian beef over rice. It was different than the normal flavors. The sauce was too salty and it didn't have any spiciness. We were a little disappointed. Overall, we enjoy coming here during our Reno visits. On a personal note, the pho soup is very good.

Tried the Pho #4 with Raw Steak & Flank Steak and Honey Walnut Prawns w/ fried rice. Honey walnut prawns were battered and fried crispy; mayo sauce was slightly sweet in flavor with a hint of lemon. Upgraded to Fried rice for extra $4. Fried rice was good with smoky toasted flavor; would have been better if they added meat in the fried rice. The pho broth was pretty standard. It doesn't have any distinct noticeable difference from other phoa I've had. They give good amount of meat and noodles. The bowl was pretty big so pricewise it's reasonable but flavor needs to catch up. Spacious dining room. Not too long of a wait for the food.
The pho here was really good and close to all of the casinos so you don't have to travel far. The service was A++++ and I would come back for how kind and attentive they were. The broth was good I was just missing the spice. I wish their chilli oil was spicier. Especially after a really long night of gambling and drinking. Pho is fire. And next time I'll try other items.
Super friendly staff, they were attentive and nice. The restaurant is clean, food was great, really good pho broth. Love that it was 3 mins away from our hotel GSR as well.
Great service and amazingly delicious food. Everything I have tried here has been amazing. I am eating my way through the entire menu. Lol! A great place to dine in or takeout. You can't go wrong with this locally owned restaurant. The staff is very friendly and always accommodating. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
I walked in and it smells just like my mother-in-law's house! My MIL is Vietnamese and she cooks amazing food and this restaurant smells exactly like her kitchen, her home. I heard great things about this place, and actually a good friend of ours happens to know the owner, so finally we went here to confirm people's positive experience. We ordered the egg roll and salt and pepper chicken for appetizers. Their eggroll was so delicious. It was crispy, had loads of wood ear fungus (my favorite), vermicelli noodles and so much more! Their salt and pepper chicken was so bomb because the chicken was meaty, juicy, and breading was on point. I ordered the rare steak pho and you can tell they cooked their broth to perfection. It reminded of how I cook my pho actually and how my MIL cooks her. It really tastes like they didn't take the shortcut by using phở powder. I really enjoyed their pho and will have to try more when we come back here. My husband ordered his favorite dish bún bò hue, and had me try his and tasted very good too. The only thing he commented on his was that they overcooked the noodles for it was too soft. My MIL order chicken phở and she loved it. Overall SF Kitchen gave us an authentic feel. Their service was very welcoming and quick. We also loved how the setting felt, simple and "homey". So if you haven't tried this place and you're reading this, GO!
First time checking out SF Kitchen here in Reno just off of the freeway at Mill St and Kietzke. They're said to serve both Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine. Let's check it out! Of course I had to try the Pho! I'm a sucker for a good Pho. So first--the restaurant was just what you would expect. A spacious dining area, wooden tables and chairs. Nothing too fancy. A chill ambiance, not too much for decor, but I didn't come there to stare at walls, I came to grub! Lol My buddy Yasir and I would grab seat in the back and chat and we'd both order a combination bowl with Flank and Rare steak. Verdict? Fast and friendly service, a steaming hot bowl of Pho with a delicious broth. I wish for more protein in this bowl please! Places like this always seem to serve you more noodles than meats, but I digress. The broth was killer and that order if spring rolls we got with that favorful pork and it's marinade... Mmm! Overall a traditional Vietnamese dining experience. How does it rank against places like Pho 999 or even an SK Noodle? There could be some friendly competition there, but all in all, I love how some restaurants strive to make slight deviations and distinctions in their dishes that set them apart. SF Kitchen does it. I'll come back and try one of their entree with the Mrs and give you a other review should you be on the fence. The Pho alone I think should make you curious. It's all about the broth! And service of course.
probably the best vietnamese restaurant here in reno the canh chua, sweet and sour cat fish soup was my favorite and not many places make this dish super delicious and recommended bun bo hue was good the summer rolls, pork was good in fish sauce, usually its dipped in peanut sauce, but the fish sauce was a nice alternative will definitely be back to try other dishes! thank you!
Came to Reno for the weekend and were craving pho. After seeing the great reviews, we decided to give this place a try--and we're so glad we did! We ordered the rare beef & flank pho, the flank steak & oxtail pho, and my mom had the sweet & sour pork with pork fried rice, pot stickers, and egg flower soup. Everything was delicious--the pho broth was rich and flavorful, and the Chinese dishes were just as tasty. They easily accommodated our party of 10, the service was fast, and the atmosphere was family-friendly. We've found our new favorite spot in Reno and will definitely be back!
A Reno Gem: If you haven't been to SF Kitchen yet, you are seriously missing out. This place is an absolute standout in Reno's food scene. I LOVE IT HERE! The Food The food here is beyond delicious--every dish we tried was bursting with fresh, authentic flavor. The Pho is absolutely amazing and I've tried so many spots in town, and I can confidently say this is the best Pho in Reno I've had. The broth is rich, aromatic, and has that perfect depth of flavor that you only get from a kitchen that truly knows what they're doing. The Service & Staff It's not just about the food, though. The people who work here are wonderful. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with genuine warmth. Fiona is an absolute gem . The service is fast, attentive, and the staff really goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. You can tell the team here actually cares about their customers. A Note on Large Parties For transparency: they do charge a set tip for large parties. Honestly, this is a completely normal practice at almost any reputable restaurant to ensure the servers are fairly compensated for the extra work that goes into managing a big group. To be frank, leaving a bad review specifically because of a standard large-party gratuity says a lot more about the person leaving the review than it does about the business. This is also a small family owned business serving FRESH authentic food. Which means sometimes the food might take longer to get to you on busy days, say like Christmas or New Years when they are slammed packed BUT it's always worth the wait! I've been coming here for years and years and years. The owners care deeply about each and every one of their customers and employees. They make you feel like family and it feels like home You can't find that much anywhere anymore. Bottom line: If you want incredible food, top-tier service, and the best bowl of Pho in the city, go to SF Kitchen. You won't regret it!
This is our GO TO PHO-SPOT when we stay at GSR. It's like a 4 minute drive, super fast and hella good flavor. They got Chinese entrees too, if you have picky kids that don't eat soup. HEADS UP! The liquor store next door sells hella expired stuff, be careful. Alotta different "Rhino pills" too, if you're into that.
Solid place for Viet foodfare. Good pho, Vermicilli and bbq pork/beef. Convenient location (for me anyway). Clean establishment and food came out fast. Not perfect 5 stars as while good it is also not exceptional. The pricing is on the slightly high side.
I feel that the soup they gave us was very starchy, and it was nothing like egg drop soup, which is what they give you when you get complementary soup at any restaurant. We had cashew chicken, the cashew tasted like it was older, and it tasted like stale food. The broccoli beef was excellent, and the meat really tasted like it had been grilled. The service is very good. They serve you promptly, and you are able to enjoy your meal after. The place is a bit pricey for Chinese food. $22 per person for what you get is too much in my opinion. read more

SF is NOT San Francisco, it is the abbreviation of the owner, LOL. Quality/Quantity - Overall okay, we got the following: Rare Flank Steak Pho Bun Bo Hue - Tomato base broth, okay. Especially for Reno... Beef Vietnamese BBQ Over Vermicelli - My typical dish. Thought I needed more fish sauce, but I actually did not. Flavor was good. Quantity = just enough, no leftovers. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. Few to no customers on this Wednesday night. Plenty of free private parking. Open 5 days a week from 11am to 9pm, closed Sunday and Monday. Service - Good, accommodated everything we needed. Price - $50+ tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success in Reno for the last 6+ years. And your prior success in Sparks. read more

Good food and service. Its clean inside but a little noisy. I had the L18 combo of pork and shrimp and my wife got the honey garlic chicken. My dish was very good but the honey garlic dish was a little too saucey. Try it sometime. read more

I have been meaning to try the food at SF Kitchen because I read on their on-line menu, they offered ox tail; so, today, I dropped by to pick up an order of the ox tail pot and the beef stew pot with a side of steamed rice, and I honestly say both dishes were delicious. When I entered the restaurant, they had a few diners plus another lady waiting for her to-go order. I ordered to-go as well and what impressed me about this establishment, other than the great tasting food was how absolutely well-mannered the proprietress was; she got the door for the customer ahead of me because that customer had her hands full; that was truly nice of her. In the brief interaction with her and the gentleman, they seem to earnestly appreciate each customer or potential customer that walks in the door, and I like that. So, in summation, this was a good initial visit and I look forward to trying the other items on their menu. read more

It was snowing during lunch time yesterday, so I drove to this place to order a hot bowl of pho. Service was fast and friendly. I was sat upon arrival and handed a menu. I decided on the bowl of pho with rare beef and and meatballs. Oh my goodness, it was AMAZING! The broth was perfect, hot and flavorful. The staff was attentive and I was in and out within 30 mins. Perfect for my lunch hour. read more

My wife and i eat here once a month and every time feel like the first. The care the chefs take when preparing the food is second to none. The quality of service you are giving is amazing. You really do feel like family and friends. Our drinks never went passed half way. They always asked how we are doing. Even when it's at it's most busiest they can make you feel like you're the only one there. I highly recommend this restaurant. I have so many positive thoughts and experiences about SF Kitchen. Heads up - this review is for some takeout I ordered. I ate it within a half an hour of ordering it, as well, so it was as fresh as possible. I really wanted to like this place more than I did. The person at the front counter was so nice and kind, and kinda got my hopes up about the food since I had never been there before. Unfortunately what I got was so "meh" it makes me not wanna go back - although my hope is that other, more popular dishes would be much better than what I got, which is standard takeout fare. Speaking of what I got - the way they do things here is different than what I'm used to. You can order various proteins in various styles. For instance, I got general pork instead of general chicken. It came with a side of rice, and I ordered a side of steamed veggies. Just that was $24 bucks. Which I was fine paying - because I assumed the food was gonna be great, with good portions. Both of those assumptions proved false. Average portions, with meh results. It wasn't a styrofoam clamshell plate, it was small boxes. Which would have been fine ...... If the food had been great. It wasn't. Let's start with the general pork. Mushy, bland breading. Such a bunmer. Pork wasn't tough, but wasn't seasoned very well. The sauce they used tasted pretty good, which made the mushy breading all the more sad. I'm used to general chicken being crispy, crunchy, saucy, spicy, sweet and salty... Hitting all those notes. This stuff? Saucy and sweet. That's it. Considering this was the main component of my order, it really knocked the review score. Thankfully they included some chili oil, which it very much needed flavor wise, but again, the mushy breading really messed this dish up. The white rice? It was fine. Cooked well, a nice texture. Steamed veggies? Well cooked. Still crunchy. Unsalted. Both the veggies and rice were supposed to be blank canvases to enhance the general pork... Which was a letdown. Because of the unfortunate lack of quality with the general pork not justifying the smaller than expected portion size and higher than expected cost.... 2 out of 5 stars. read more
Now there is nothing that makes this pace particularly special I chose to come here as I was looking at the reviews but unfortunately I was quite disappointed the service isn't very warm and friendly it was a hassle to get it to go box also too you could tell that they already had pre-cooked the items and just toss them in two different sauces one for the general cell and one for the honey garlic the service is very Bland it's like they're running this place for years and they could care less who comes and who stays the broccoli on the platter was cold and then the sauce was hot and then the rice was lukewarm now I will admit they do serve fast but once again you get what you're paying for the bathroom was worse some gas station bathrooms. This place truly needs to be renovated and they need to upscale this menu especially for the prices that they're charging. read more

We were a big walk in party of 13 and they were able to accommodate us for lunch on the Saturday after Black Friday/ Thanksgiving. Their front host is also the waitress so she was often moving back and forth to seat people, take orders, check on the kitchen, sort to go orders and close out the checks. We perused the menu and asked right away for the clay pot catfish dish since we know clay pot dishes take longer and she refused to take the pre-order and insisted to write everyone's full order first after we were seated. Vietnamese drip coffee - had a bit of Thai tea flavor but overall was nice and strong, and we are pretty picky about our Vietnamese coffee. Honey Walnut prawns - lots of mayo and had nice citrus orange hints to it. Different from usual - batter was slightly crunchy. We liked it. Salt and Pepper chicken - loved the fresh slivers of onion and green onions, Thai chili peppers were nice and spicy... chicken was good. Nothing to crave or come back for. Oxtail Pho - super soft and tender! Although the ox tails themselves were missing a pinch of salt, the broth made up for it by being borderline salty. Would ask for it again and let them know cut back on the salt. Egg noodles were mushy for most at our table but letting them know next time will solve that. Would definitely come back for this again. 4/5 for this Beef stew in clay pot - excellent flavor. Also very very tender. A pinch too salty but to be expected with clay pot dishes. Would definitely come back and order this again. Clay pot cat fish - not what we were expecting. On the saltier side overall. Served as round steak instead of fillets or pieces. Had nice sections of fat but couldn't really enjoy it since it was salty. Would not order this again. Especially since it came very late, 2nd to the last dish well after most of the food was served. Even if she allowed pre-ordering - it would still have been late and not worth the wait. Bun Bo Hue - spicy! Had lots of perfectly cooked pork blood cubes, meat very tender, overall a great dish but noodles were on the mushy side. No chewiness. Would not crave for this or come back this overall. But good to order if you want a dish you won't regret and if you like spicy. Wonton noodle soup - requested egg noodles and it was good. Wontons were big and hearty. Thicker and on the doughier side, but not in a bad way. We are picky since we make very thin dough wontons at home but the kids liked and ate it so it's good! Meat inside it was excellent. Eggplant in black bean sauce chicken special - saw this on a bunch of reviews and we were hyped up to try it -- we were disappointed. Eggplants were cooked on the slightly firmer side which I liked. As it warmed down it got softer. Just a regular eggplant dish. Nothing to crave. It was delicious, and the black bean sauce was excellent but not something to make this restaurant stand out. We asked for no carrots due to food allergy but not only did they forgot the no carrots, they forgot to make this dish altogether. They were very apologetic but I wouldn't have charged for it since it arrived so late that other people were almost done eating. Luckily we had decided to share some of our soups but forgetting the dish and the food allergy request was definitely a buzz kill. Lastly, this place had a decent parking lot. There is a weird single table at the front where a waiting area must have previously been. Older smaller tables for two are combined to make bigger tables. Just ok ambience overall. Bathrooms are still horrendous smelling. Would not use it unless you can hold your breath the whole time. read more

Came here with my lunch buddies. I haven't been here in years and wanted to try it again based on the great Yelp reviews from fellow Yelpers. Solid 3.5-3.8 but rounded up. Comfortable place with friendly, attentive and nice service. There are lots of choices on their extensive menu. We ordered off of the daily special lunch menu and got Mongolian beef, sweet and sour shrimp, tofu with veggies and shrimp with broccoli. You then could choose fried rice or white rice and it came with egg drop soup. Prices for lunch were great at about $13.50-15.00. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and collectively we all said the food and flavors were delicious. We would come back again! read more
This is my FAVORITE Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant in Reno. They have the best veggie pho! I get the egg noodles and chicken broth and there's always so much flavor! Their veggie chow mein and fried rice is delicious as well. The service is always amazing as the staff is super friendly. Glyna is usually our server and she is super accommodating :) it's literally 2 mins from our house and if you get take-out they always pack it up super nice. read more

Been here only a few times and it's been a few years, but glad that their food is still consistent. We were nearby running errands and pho sounded so good so SF kitchen was the perfect spot. They were busy and it looked like there was only one lady taking orders, bussing tables and running the cash register but she still provided great service and had a positive attitude. The portions are sizable and their vegetables fresh for the vegetable pho. They offer a veggie broth option which was nice and light - not too greasy or salty. The inside is cleanly kept with plenty of seating given the small space. read more

Too many good things here, so I'll keep it small. 1. Summer Rolls. You need these in life. 2. Pork salad app. A trippy set of tastes that makes you want more each bite. 3. Lemon Chicken is amazing, high in sugar but the maple like sauce is somewhat savory as well. 4. Pho with vermicelli, egg roll, bbq pork and shrimp. Every singe visit. Staff is fast and always nice. Tip them like you mean it, 25%+ or you can go to a buffet! read more

I got the Rare Steak Pho and it was absolutely delicious. Probably the best I have had in reno so far. I got it for takeout, but the people at the front were extremely friendly. The vibe inside is also great, i definitely think i'll be back to dine inside read more

Definitely the spot to go for lunch and pho! They also offer Chinese dishes, but we think they have one of the best phos in town. Very reasonably priced for the portions as well. I loved their vegan pho (both is light but very flavorful) and my husband loved their ox tail pho. The place is casual and unassuming but very clean. Service is good and fast. Definitely recommend this place for a quick hearty delicious lunch. read more

Do they serve FRIED Imperial rolls? The difference between Imperial rolls and egg rolls is the wrapper. Imperial rolls are wrapped in rice flour wrappers. Egg rolls (Chinese style) are wrapped in wheat flour wrappers. Both are deep fried.
spring rolls do not have to be deep fried. As far as the wrappers go you are correct. and yes they serve both.
