Makes it so flavorful and delicious. I also tried the garlic bread and the pate chaud this time around. The garlic bread was only 50 cents per piece. I wanted to try it. It was very fresh. The late chaud was also really good. Nice, warm, and flaky. I was curious on what everyone else was getting so I asked about the baguette that a ton of people were walking out with. The employee said it was a French baguette. Next time I'll have to try it. Always busy inside but line moves fast.

So I finally made it to the shop…read more I've had these sandwiches delivered to me.Ive had these sandwiches catered to me.Now I can say I've been to the shop and actually picked them up for myself. The shop itself is located in a very busy parking lot shared by many other businesses, though parking is plentiful, it can still be a challenge. The shop itself was smaller than I imagined and both visits I made to the shop were on weekend mornings and to say it was packed is an understatement. This shop is essentially a bakery-no tables, no chairs. There are multiple cashiers who service the long line of customers but I would say the line moves very efficiently. Once you order you kind of just stand around and wait for your number to appear on screen. Both times I've visited, the wait was about 20 minutes after I ordered. So let's talk about what I actually ordered. One of the things I love to order when I visit this shop is their Vietnamese coffee.($6.00) It's served ice cold and has a perfect balance of sweetness and enough caffeine to power me thru the entire day-I love this coffee. Now let's talk about the Banh Mi sandwiches. My most favorite thing about Duc Huong Banh Mi sandwiches is the garlic bread option you have with your sandwich. I cannot overstate how much of an improvement over every other Banh Mi in the city having garlic bread as the bread base truly is. This option has pretty much ruined Banh MI sandwiches at every other shop. Not only does Duc Huong literally stuff their sandwiches with so much meat and pickled veggies, but then to have the garlic bread option-Total Game Changer. I love so many of their sandwiches but if I had to pick a Top 3 1. #7 Grilled Pork & Egg 2. #1 Grilled Pork 3. #13 Pork Belly These 3 sandwiches are so delicious. Another thing about this shop is the pricing. A small sandwich generally runs around $3.25. A large sandwich generally runs between $6.00 and $7.50. So how do you have the best sandwich and some of the best pricing? One of the many reasons I truly love Duc Huong Sandwiches and why I truly daydream about when I can return to this amazing shop. Truly The Best!

My wife loves the banh sew. Not too greasy with plenty of fresh herbs and veggies. The dip sauce is just right. Not too sweet or fishy. Service is quick and friendly. Ambience is not fancy, tables and chairs, always packed. I usually order an extra banh mi to go. Check this place out. You won't regret it.

While I make it a point to grab some banh mis to go whenever I'm around, I've never eaten in the restaurant until this weekend. HL is a sleeper because their menu options are big, portions are BIG, AND the food is still decently priced with most entrees being $14. This is getting harder and harder to find, due to cost of living and inflation. Bun Bo Hue (BBH) - Really good! Nice big bowl of noodles with all the usual suspects. Can get this with or without blood cubes. They serve this with a lot of veggies and herbs which is nice because some places are so skimpy. The flavor of the broth is delicious but not spicy. You'll need to add more of the chili oil and other table condiments. Banh cuon - It only said it was served with cha lua (vietnamese meat loaf) but I was surprised to see it came with a shrimp and potato fritter, as well as a good serving of bean sprouts, cucumbers and pickled daikon/carrot on the side. They give you a small side of sambal as well fish sauce to dip or pour over your banh cuon. The portion is huge for $14 and I really loved the taste of the cha lua, which I'm pretty sure is house made. The rice rolls could be a little thinner but they were filled well! The shrimp fritter was okay... two shrimps with shells on btw. It added a nice crunch to the meal but it was pretty greasy with a thicker batter. My fav shrimp fritter comes from Tay Ho but can't complain! Nem Nuong Spring Roll - I was expecting a couple small spring rolls for $5 but these thangs were long and thicccc (thats what she said). The nem nuong inside isn't overly sweet, but its a long thin slice that spans the whole roll so every bite is the perfect bite :) The eggroll wrapper was nice and crunchy, and the the roll not overly filled with noodles. Very shareable, but ask them to cut it in half or thirds! Was a hot day so we got Soursop smoothie, no pearl and a fresh OJ. Vietnamese OJ hits different. It tastes exactly the way you imagine an orange should taste, but so much better. I'm pretty sure they add some kind of syrup and sugar to it to enhance it because no way is it just fresh squeezed oranges only. Slightly pulpy but not too bad. Soursop is usually my fav but idk if they messed up and gave me the wrong one or what. It tasted very limey lol Only took a couple sips before trashing it. I've never had their shakes before but I found it was very icey, and less creamy than other places. Service is so so. If you want to eat in, just sit at a table and somebody will bring you a menu. The food comes out quick but they won't check on you again after that. If you need anything extra like water, napkins, the check, you'll need to wave someone down. They take CC though, so that's a plus! Parking lot is big, shared with SF market and all the other stores in the plaza so it can get pretty hectic. HL side has a small side lot, so try your luck there otherwise it'll be a walk as they're the corner store.

I don't know how I have lived in Sac for 25 years and have never been here. The store is filled with eye popping quality foods. Think of it as a smaller version of Whole Foods when it comes to food quality and prices. I noticed they had some top quality cuts of meats. The prices are quite high so I'll have to splurge some time on a nice steak. I did notice some items were pretty reasonably priced. For example, I was rather surprised to see they had a very large variety of Temple coffee beans for for $14.99 a bag. That's cheaper than I have seen elsewhere but I didn't pay close attention to the size since I was fully stocked on coffee at the moment. I had to try one of their legendary made to order sandwiches. Someone had recommended The Tuscany. Boy, was that delicious! And the sandwich was very large for $9.99, I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. There are tables outside so I purchased a bottle soda and a sandwich. Unfortunately, I didn't think ahead because there are no bottle openers available for customers to use so I was unable to enjoy my nice cold drink with my sandwich. I'll have to either bring my own bottle opener next time or choose a drink that is a screw top or flip opener.

The Corti Special is where they choose the types of meat that go into your sandwich. Their sandwiches are big enough for two people. I don't remember exactly what meats were in my first sandwich, but I definitely enjoyed that one more. The second time, the sweet roll got a little soggy for my liking, and I wasn't a big fan of the beef that was included. I am definitely a fan of their honey mustard, though! You can order your sandwiches online, or if you're ordering in-store, there's a slip you can fill out with your order. I waited about 20-30 minutes for my first sandwich, which wasn't too bad considering it was a busy weekend. The second time, I only waited about 5 minutes. They still have a great variety of meats, cheeses, and alcohol. It's a good place to stop by if you're looking to pick up some specialty grocery items along with a sandwich.

It's a pretty popular restaurant so joining the waitlist on Yelp helps to get in the queue. When we got there, we were already on the Yelp waitlist so our wait wasn't really long. For this visit, we had the following: Dishes - Ribeye steak and Vietnamese shaking beef, Crispy Fish Sauce chicken wings both served with red rice. Drinks - Kumquat lemongrass tea and coconut coffee Their food is really good, reasonably priced. Staff were attentive and friendly, definitely provided great service. Atmosphere was lively but not loud. Simply decorated. There's a small space for waiting customers. Definitely highly recommended when you're in this area but be prepared for the wait especially on a high peak day like the weekends. August 2026

Weird choice by the chef.

My to-go order is the Hornet on a Dutch crunch roll with everything on it except mustard. Make it a combo with chips and a drink, and you'll have an incredible lunch. The ambiance is different from other sandwich spots in midtown. The chairs and tables are older and worn, and it's small inside, but it's also inside an old house that was converted into a restaurant. That alone makes this place unique. People hang out inside or outside with friends and enjoy the vibes. There's a real sense of community that the Sandwich Spot brings along with uniquely crafted sandwiches. All of the sandwiches are named after people or landmarks in Sacramento. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and will help you with recommendations if you're not sure which sandwich to get. It honestly feels like you're in the company of good friends. The staff joke around and seem to enjoy their job and working together. The restaurant is in a really cool old Victorian house, and the staff were super friendly. The interior was clean and looked like a nice place to dine in, but I ended up taking my order to go. I ordered the #19 with turkey, prosciutto, avocado, and swiss on a dutch crunch roll. The bread had just gone into the oven, so we had to wait about 10 minutes, but I can't complain because it was baked fresh to order. Overall, I thought the sandwich was very good, but honestly not quite as amazing as people online had made it out to be. It was definitely good, but I don't know if I'd be dying to go back when I think Ike's, Mr. Pickle's, Corti Bros, and maybe even Nugget or Sprouts make more interesting sandwiches. To me, those places use slightly higher quality ingredients as well, though maybe I just didn't order the best sandwich here. Overall, it was a good sandwich and a good experience. My expectations were probably just a little too high. I wouldn't be dying to come back but also wouldn't say no if someone wanted to go there for lunch.
