Gilbert Food Truck Food Court - And where were YOU on Friday Night??

Dang, I should have read Chris H.'s amazingly detailed and informative review. I wore heeled boots…read moreto the Gilbert Food Truck Food Court and man were my feet wobbling while walking on rocks [I can't even call this gravel because they were your average landscaping sized rocks]. Yeowch! At least I burned off my food while trying to balance? Anywho, this place is located right across from Barrio Queen. At 6PM in November, the Barrio Queen actually looks like true royalty with her bright neon sign lighting the way to hungry patrons looking for a bite to eat. There were 10+ trucks this particular Friday night, lots of people were in attendance to dine, and seating was a headache. We managed to snag a table right next to The Maine Lobster Lady's food truck at the last second. I wish I had known about this luck because I would have ordered the bisque! Oh well. Maybe next time. Anyways, Gilbert Food Truck Food Court has a rotating guests of food trucks weekly so make sure you check to see if your fave truck is in attendance on their respective social medias. As Chris said, why pay a cover fee for fancy food truck festivals when you can come here every Friday night? Live music and chocolate stout cotton candy from Sugar Hi awaits you!

I am talking about Food Trucks of varying dishes that can satisfy virtually everyone. There's plenty of seats + tables to enjoy fam time, and of course the food. Live music is a bonus!

I almost went with the Classic, but saw someone with a BBQ Brisket potato and instantly changed my mind. When I took it back into the office and opened it up, at least 5 of my co workers came over to tell me how good it smelled. The brisket portion is generous and tender - and the cheese, sour cream, and green onions are the perfect classic compliment. It was swimming in melted butter, which might be a negative for some. But not for me! I was tempted to give 4 stars because a $10 potato is still pricey, no matter how delicious, but the girls on the truck were awesome and service was quick. I will definitely order again.

(Motivational pep talks obviously aren't my strong point). Literally, my dream come true on wheels. My friends and family joke that in my last life I lived through the potato famine which is why I'm so obsessed with this starch and I really can't argue with that. If you're a fan of the baked potatoes from Jason's Deli (shoutout to the Plain Jane) you'll love these. The potato itself is pretty hefty - it's not like the usual sizes you get as a side dish and the pictures on here make it look pretty tiny as well. In person, these taters mean business, especially with all the toppings they add to make it as tall as your face. This is definitely something you hold tenderly and safely with both hands according to OSHA standards. I got the Original combined with the Cheese and Broccoli because the broccoli totally offsets everything else calorie-wise. The potato isn't dry or hard, but soft like you're cutting into a fresh warm pancake with your fork. When you look down at your place, your tater is bathing in a warm bed of melted butter. It's so perfect, so beautiful ... GET IN MAH BELLY. If you're not a cheese wiz fan, I recommend you don't get anything that has the melted cheese - just ask for the shredded. I've been known to eat an ungodly amount of potatoes in one sitting but I hit a brick wall 3/4 into this with all the toppings on it. I highly recommend the Brisket baked potato if you like a spices (not spicy) in your food. Great price point, totally recommend if you ever see them!

When I first walked up to the truck, I saw the menu and was surprised by what the prices were. 12 dollars for chicken tenders, 10-12 dollars for waffles, 8 dollars for wings, and even 5 dollars for their special "ghetto seasoning." But I figured what the heck, I'll support a small business and pay a bit more for what I assumed was going to be good food considering their rating on Yelp. I ordered their chicken and waffles and when I was handed the food, I honestly thought it was a joke. I paid 22 dollars to a not so happy cashier for 4 chicken wings, 1 small waffle, and 1 small packet of syrup. This portion could be the same size as what you would get in a kids meal. And the worst part was that the wings tasted like wings you could get from WingStop. I honestly was disappointed because I was looking forward to having some tasty comfort food. I really hope in the future they adjust their prices to match the quality of their food. I would avoid unless you're looking for overpriced, average food.
