I want to share my great experience with working with Tammy in reproducing my mom's favorite dresses. My mother is strickened with dementia at age 93. In her prime, she could made her own dresses that was comfortable and fit her well. I went to 3 different seamstress and they refused me in doing clothing reproduction, they only did small jobs or alterations. No "full on" start-from-scratch jobs. Tammy came to our rescue and cloned my mother's dresses to perfection, with a sample that I provided. My mother expression just lit up with joy, in seeing 8 brand new dresses in the colors and fabric mom hand picked with the assistance of Tammy. I bought a Dri-FIT shirt from a reputable shop, but after one wash the sewing on the sleeve came out. I really love the shirt, but the shop was sold out. So I decided to look for a seamstress to help me fix the problem. I used my trusty Yelp app and I found Sewing Sistahs. I message them on my Yelp to see if they would be able to help me. I was contacted quickly and was told "Yes I can help" Sewing Sistahs is located in Aiea in a beautiful community. I was given an appointment and perfect instructions on how to find them. I was told to watch for the flowers on the mailbox. I arrived and met Tammy. She was very kind and courteous. She looked at my shirt and said "I can fix this while you wait" Tammy was able to match the thread perfectly and now it looks like brand new. The thing I really appreciated was Tammy's ALOHA..... She talked to me while she worked and was just so gracious and a truly genuine person. It's really hard to find genuine people and I am so glad I met Tammy. The initial inquiry went very smoothly and Tammy was very accommodating despite me requesting an alteration during the holidays. I waited a couple months for my bridesmaid dress in the mail & unfortunately when it came, it was too small so I was too worried to order another one. Luckily, Tammy was able to remove the zipper from the back and incorporate a lace tie so I was able to adjust the tightness! Is there an option for a 10-start review, because we def need one! Finding jeans that fit you, and I mean FIT you, is not easy when you are petite AND have, ahem, Hawaiian hips. I think we've all experienced finding a goodish pair, but it's either long or there's that weird waist-butt gap and you feel a "draft". So what do you sacrifice, the waist fit vs. length fit? Try neither. Finding a good pair of jeans takes a little more than a visit to a department store. It takes a visit to Tammy at Sewing Sistahs. Lucky Brand Jeans and Levi's always hit the mark for waist and hip fit, but the length is another story. Instead of stapling it, using safety pins, or dare I even say, brazenly cutting them myself, I turned to Yelp to guide the way and help find a seamstress. OMG, Yelp delivered! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, if you need a seamstress who efficiently responds to Yelp requests, provides top-notch quality work, and is the sweetest, kindest, patient, and overall genuinely amazing human being, you need to call Tammy. No joke. After measuring the length of 3 pairs of jeans, and letting Tammy know the types of shoes I would typically wear with them, she provided suggestions on where the pants should fall. I took her expert advice and I was not disappointed. The stitching is perfect and IMO, I feel is now better suited for a more professional look, and the length, is spot on. Not too high, not too low, just right! I was not in a rush to receive my pants back, but in less than a week, Tammy called to share that they were ready to pick them up. I had a great experience working with Tammy!! I needed a pair of pants hemmed last minute for a trip to Japan. I am 5'2" so pants are always too long. This particular pair was probably 5 inches too long and a stretchy fabric. She was working on a few big projects but was able to fit me in immediately. While at her studio, I really appreciated how she gave recommendations on length based on how the pants were cut, the way the fabric draped and how they would fit over my shoes since they are wide legged. I got my pants back later that week just in time for my trip and they were perfect. Her prices are also extremely reasonable. Better than anywhere else.
