Called to ask if they could fix the zipper slider on a nylon bag. Guy who answered told me to bring it down they'll look at it. I asked about an appointment and he said it's better to have one and scheduled me. I arrived earlier and since he was on the phone, I took out all of the things from my bag. When I showed it to him, he readily said something about not having the right sewing machines for the bag. I pointed to the cracked zipper slider and he shook his head no. Needless to say, I was disappointed. He even told me on the phone that he'll give me a good price. I put everything back in my bag and left. It is a tiny but mighty shop. They were able to alter a top for a wedding within the week. My sarees had not arrived and so I found an alternative blouse to wear but the standard measurements fit in some spots but not others. The top now fits perfectly and you cannot tell it had to be taken in 4 inches at the waist. Multiple customers stopped in while we were there. There is a very small changing space. If I recall correctly, the changing space has a step with curtains so it would not be accessible to someone in a wheelchair. read more

I took my jacket to get the sleeve elastic replaced and first they told me July 22 it would be done. I went on the 22, 25, and 27 and each time nothing was done to my order. I do not recommend this business. Not even a call to say it wasn't ready yet and they told me come back in a hour. Poor service. read more

Nothing but good things to say about this shop! I brought my wedding dress to Pearl Custom for alterations because it was too long on me. I was honestly pretty nervous at first since the shop didn't have any reviews, but I decided to take a chance and I'm really glad I did! My dress was not simple at all. It was a cathedral-length crepe back satin gown, a mermaid silhouette, and an illusion scalloped lace train. Because of how detailed and structured it was, I was very worried about it getting ruined. I specifically asked how they planned to alter it before agreeing, just to make sure everything would be done correctly, and they took the time to explain the process. I had purchased my dress on clearance, so I didn't want to spend more on alterations than the dress itself. Pearl Custom's pricing was very fair and reasonable, especially considering the complexity of the work. Not like some places that suddenly up charge ridiculous prices as soon as they hear "wedding". I truly appreciated their honesty. I dropped off my dress on December 13, and it was ready by December 30, which was impressively fast! especially during the holidays. They were also very responsive on Yelp, which made communication easy. Auntie Nuong, the tailor, is clearly very experienced. I don't speak Vietnamese, but her son Jonathan translated everything for me. They were both incredibly patient and reassuring with all of my questions and concerns. Auntie Nuong handled my dress with great care and did a beautiful job shortening it while keeping the shape, flow, and all the details intact. The dress fit perfectly and looked exactly how it should. She also added buttons on the back so I can hook up my train and walk more easily when needed. If you're nervous about trusting a tailor, especially with something as important and delicate as a wedding dress, I would definitely recommend Pearl Custom. I'm really happy I took the chance! I was a little afraid she was just going to sew over the sequins taking in the dress, but she moved it nicely so you can't even tell that she altered the size.
