No Aloha Here. My first encounter with the woman who owns this shop was a few weeks ago. When I entered the store, there was another customer inside, and despite plenty of space, she told me--not asked me--to wait outside. Not the most welcoming first impression, but I decided to wait, considering the limited alteration options on the island and the positive Yelp/Google reviews. While standing outside with no indication of how long I'd be waiting, I noticed a "Cash Only" sign and a requirement for a 50% downpayment. Since I didn't have cash on me, I left with the plan to return later. A few days later, I went back. This time, the shop was empty, so I walked in again, only to be met by the same unfriendly demeanor. Normally, I wouldn't bother dealing with poor customer service, but I had an upcoming wedding and limited options for alterations nearby. (Sure, there are more places in Honolulu, but the traffic is notoriously bad.) I needed three button-up shirts tailored and brought in another shirt to show her how I wanted the alterations done. When I asked if I should try on the shirts for proper measurement and pinning, she bluntly said no and just took the "template" shirt. The total cost for altering three shirts? $150. Honestly, two of those shirts didn't even cost $50 each, but I was desperate and rationalized the steep price as supporting a local business. Five days later, my partner picked up the shirts, and just as I suspected, they didn't fit as expected. Getting a proper fitting would have helped, but she didn't seem interested in ensuring the alterations were done right. To make matters worse, her demeanor was consistently unfriendly. I'm genuinely surprised by the positive reviews because my experience was nothing like what was described. And while I could go back to request adjustments or a refund, the thought of dealing with her negative energy again isn't worth it to me. So, that was my experience with Attractive Alterations. The owner, Insun, is a very nice lady and had my daughter try on the dress and shoes. She took a look at the hem and told us she didn't think it needed to be hemmed after all. If you're looking alterations this is the place! Look no further, Attractive Alterations is located upstairs by Palama Market at Waimalu Shopping center. Parking is easily available in the front. For my wedding dress, I was quoted over $200+ to take it in since the dress was a little too big however I already spent quite a bit of money already with other types of alterations. Making an appointment was so easy with In Sun. The shop is small so it's just you and her. If any additional customers come, they wait outside. When she told me she alter the dress in less than 2 weeks, I was speechless. Other places have told me minimum of 2 months in advance. When she quoted me on price, it was way cheaper than the original person. I'm sure if I looked around I could have found someone cheaper however with that turnaround time and somewhere easily accessible... yes please. In Sun is so sweet and personable too. The shop itself it located on the second floor on the Ewa corner of the shopping center. I've went in twice - once to alter the length of a dress and most recently, to alter the length of skirt. She does provide a changing room with heeled shoes/platforms you can borrow if you forgot to bring yours. Anyway, the prices seem reasonable, and the alterations are spot on and well done. Insun provided the most INCREDIBLE service to me this past weekend! My now husband and I decided on Monday to get married this past Sunday, which left us less than a week to pull everything off. I ordered three dresses online and they arrived at my house on Friday afternoon. After trying them all on, I was fortunate enough to find one that I liked, however, it was way too long for me. With our wedding less than 48 hours away, I began my hunt for a seamstress who would be willing to hem the bottom for me in time. It was already 4 pm on Friday when I called Insun and she told me she could probably rush the alterations in time for Sunday but that she needed to see the dress first. You cannot believe the relief I felt when I heard her say those words. A wedding dress altered in less than 24 hours?!?! Unreal!!! This place is so awesome! I first came here to get alterations done for my daughter's wedding and Insun did a fabulous job. I noticed that she can do alterations on anything so I came back with a couch cover project. I bought a sectional couch and couldn't find covers for sectionals so I bought 3 small recliner covers and 2 large recliner covers and used safety pins to show Insun how I wanted it altered. I don't sew so I had safety pins all over the place but she was able to follow my explanation to her and about a week later (maybe earlier), it was ready for pick up. Now I have a couch cover for my sectional and console covers she made with the arms that we cut off a couple of the covers. Fabulous job. She really can do anything! read more

I've taken 2 prom dresses here for alterations, for my daughters. Both dresses were white. The first, needed to be taken in, hem needed to be shortened and it had sequin detail. 3 years later, I have a second dress that needs to be taken in at the waist, but had a peplum and corset boning. Both times, my experience was the same: Insun worked magic!! That's the only way to describe it. She can visualize the final fit and takes into consideration movement, detail, etc. She's truly Amazing. Prior to taking them into Attractive Alterations, these dresses were such an ill fit, they were falling down--as you can see they're a perfect fit afterwards! A lot of places charge extra for white dresses (especially if there's detailing), and for both of these dresses, I knew it might be impossible to alter. IF a location agreed to consider it, the price was/is minimum $150. Pricing is fair and reasonable: I paid $80 for the first and $130 for the second, and it was well worth the value, for the end results. This is the Only place I trust, and highly recommend to others, for alterations. Neither of these were rush orders, so we picked them up about a week after our initial visit.
