I needed a same day alteration on a sequin skirt for my anniversary dinner. The skirt arrived late in the mail due to the holidays. Envision total price of the skirt was $57.43 with shipping and handling. The skirt needed approximately 4 inches taken off at the bottom. Material is not thick or complex. I could've done it myself, if I had a sewing machine. At first, she quoted $50. I thought she said $15. I clarified pricing and whether it was cash or credit card for payment. She requested cash and stated I'd pay for taxes as well. A couple seconds later, she bumped pricing up to $80. I said no, I'm not paying $80 to alter a skirt. Then, she said $60 to alter the skirt. I said no, I'm good. She then lowered the price to $50 again. I would've paid the $50 to rush the skirt, but I was disappointed that she was price gauging me. I've come here several times for alterations. Service, quality and value were always great. I wont be a returning customer. read more

Excellent work. I've had several military items sewn here in the past year to include berets, rucks, uniforms, duffles and other industrial strength items. I recently had some canvas items sewn and went in prior to the day they were due to change and add to the order. Of course it was completed early, and Ryulahn didn't want to charge me for the changes I needed to make. Went in to get my wedding shirt trimmed and asked her if she could get it done within a couple of days. She said no problem and informed me of the price due to the expedited services. I haven't tried on the shirt so I assumed I need it to be trimmed. I tried it on for her and she said it fits great no need to trim. She could easily take my shirt and trim it just slightly, but she was honest and said you don't need to and keep your money. Honest services are hard to come by nowadays. This place is great! It was about 10 years ago I had my daughter's prom dresses altered at this location. I was pleased with the workmanship and pricing back then. Thinking this was the same business, I brought my daughter back to alter a bridesmaid's dress. I could not remember the name of the business, but I remembered it was near Mat-Co. 10 years ago, there were several ladies at the sewing machines working away. It was quite a contrast when we entered the store last month. There was barely any customer items hanging in the back of the room and all the sewing machines were silent. That should have been the first indication that we should have just turned around and leave. Before we could do that, a Korean lady came out from the back as she was eating her lunch. She didn't look familiar so I asked how long she was at this location. She proceeded to say that she bought the business 2 years ago and had to replace the machines because all of them were old and not working well. She said she just came back from vacation so that's why business was slow. (second reason we should have left) I went ahead and had my daughter try on her dress to see what she says about the alterations. She said she would adjust the straps as they were a bit long. She measured the hem of the dress and pinned the lining and front of the dress. While my daughter changed, the lady filled out the work order and asked for a name and phone number. Only after filling out the work order did she say that it would cost $45 to shorten the straps and $80 to hem the dress. (Third reason we should have left) The price seemed rather high. I blame myself for not either trying to negotiate for a lower price or say we would go somewhere else for price comparison. We paid and left. Only after going home did I search on Yelp for the previous business. Then after reading some of the reviews for that business was it apparent that they were talking about this new owner. Comments were negative. Too late to do anything so I just prayed that the alterations would be done to our satisfaction. When we returned on the agreed upon date, the alterations were completed and workmanship was good. There was no change in the number of customer items hanging in the back and there was no activity in the store. I think other people were wiser than me in soliciting this business. Workmanship was satisfactory and completion was timely so my only suggestion to others is to shop around and compare prices. My rating is mainly for the price we paid for the alterations. read more

I have been a customer since 2019, when I returned home to Oahu for all my uniform and civilian suit alterations. She does precise and incredible work as I am a hard-to-fit for clothing off the rack or sold with standard measurements. Also I do teach at a high school here on Oahu. Ryulahn is a vendor for our school, and she always ensures the cadets look their best in the uniforms issued to them. The uniforms we issue are meant for adults; however, we do have students who are still growing, and she can take the closest fit we have (male 27 in the waist) and alter it so the cadet who is a 24-inch waist and is challenged for height at this stage in their adolescence and the results of her work have the cadet looking like they should be on a recruiting poster. Her work is top-notch and timely, even when she takes on the job of alterations of more than 100 items at the beginning of our school year. Last year during our final awards ceremony, veterans and active duty officers all complimented how squared away the cadets and their uniforms looked. I do not hesitate to patronize her business for my and our students' alterations. read more
