Olena was great! She was very upfront about prices and ways to alter my dress. It was very easy to set up an appointment. To some people, she might sound a bit cold over the phone, and even at the first meeting, but she is really just a direct person. You drive up to her house, enter through her front door, walk up the stairs, then knock. I'm writing this down because the first time I went, I wasn't sure whether to knock on the door or try it. The dress I brought to her was too big for me, so after telling me what needed to be cinched up/hemmed and giving me a quote, Olena even told me it would be better for me to just buy the dress in a smaller size to save money. It turns out she was able to do something with the straps that allowed the dress to fit more cleanly. She altered the dress that day, and I was able to pick it up the next morning! It was SO quick. She did a wonderful job, and I'm very happy with the end product. It was a bit on the expensive side - I compared prices with my other friends who had to get the same hemming elsewhere and they paid lower. But honestly, with such quick alternations, and Olena doing a great job, I would go back to see her for other dresses. read more

Olena was easy to schedule with (I came in from Chicago for my appointments), and she made each appointment simple, her pricing is fair, and my dress is stunning. I had no idea what to do for a bustle, and she came up with the most gorgeous waterfall effect - I've never seen anything like it! With so many glowing reviews, I chose to go here. My experience with Olena was poor to say the least. She was not friendly. She was aggressive, highly opinionated/dismissive of my requests, and in the end rushed me out of her place unsatisfied and confused. To get to the alterations portion of her home, it is un-pleasant and cluttered from entry to/including the room where she measures you for alterations. At my last alterations appt, When I asked her if she was finished with my dress because I had seen the rough hem when I tried it on, she looked at me like I had severely offended her and told me "of course it is". She is intimidating and therefore not someone that is easy to stand up to in the moment, especially when it involves your precious wedding dress, so I left with it. She did do some good work on the upper portion of my dress and the bussel, but as you can see in the photo I have attached, the top photo is the hem of my dress when I went home with it. When I called her to ask her to re-hem it due to actually wanting it to be shorter, she told me to go to someone else, that she wouldn't make it shorter because it would look bad in her opinion. I went to someone else, who cleaned up the hem as shown in the bottom photo and shortened my dress as requested. My 2nd seamstress also noted this: "...the side seam(the seam that joins the front of the skirt to the back of the skirt) had a more than 4 inch discrepancy..." With all of this being said, it should be a fun, magical, and lovely experience going to get your dress altered for your wedding, & the way that YOU want it to look, but instead it was anxiety filled each time. I do not recommend that you go here for dress alterations. read more

She recommended small changes that I never even considered -- for example, my wedding dress sleeves were off-the-shoulder style and she recommended putting in clear elastic on the straps so I could lift my arms more. Recently I needed to have a bridesmaid dress altered (specifically taken out) in an extremely short time frame after having a baby only two months before the wedding. I had bought the dress while pregnant and without being able to try it on since it was from the East side of the state. Olena was able to make the alterations and was reasonably priced for what I needed done. She was flexible on when I could come for fittings and made sure I felt comfortable in the dress. I would not recommend this seamstress. When I originally took my dress, it was way too big on me. When I went for a subsequent fitting, it was WAY too tight as she had taken it in way too much. In fact, it was so tight that the zipper ripped right off the dress when she tried to zip it up. She did replace the zipper free of charge but the dress was still extremely, uncomfortably tight...so much so that in the end I was unable to wear the dress. I was so sad as I had purchased a year earlier and it was no longer being made. My last fitting was just a few weeks before the wedding as she insisted on doing the alterations close to the wedding. So this left only a few weeks to determine an alternate wedding dress plan. This added a LOT of stress. I would not recommend. read more
