The owner, Jas Deveau, will greet you warmly, send you off to the dressing room, and then measure, pin and tuck your garment to a custom fit. That too-tight or too-large dress you bought as a bargain will feel like it was designed just for you. The shop itself is charming, with deep red walls, an original tin ceiling and embroidered fabrics on chairs amid the dress forms and large colorful spools of thread. You might hear classical music playing while passers-by wave a greeting through the window or open door. I sometimes feel like I've stopped into a little shop on a Parisian corner. Jas is a gem! I began using her services when I moved to Winthrop--she helped me decide on a "look" for window treatments in the dining room of my new house, suggesting "stage coach" shades, which are perfect as they let in a lot of light but provide an elegant decorative accent. She also custom made a cushion for an old church pew I bought at a salvage store and it looks fabulous! AND...she reupholstered the cushions for my outdoor furniture, giving new life to my vintage patio set. All of her work is impeccable and at reasonable prices. But what really made me a "forever" client is her willingness to work with me on a kind of "kooky" project, helping me make from scratch an angel doll of life size proportions to give to sick kids. We are so lucky to have an expert tailor such as Jasmine in Winthrop where I live. My family has been going to her for several years now and her work is always of the highest quality. This is true regardless if they are inexpensive clothes or very expensive clothes. She knows quality garments, how they are constructed and how best to tailor them to fit the clients needs. Jasmine is often interested in taking on projects that are outside of her normal tailoring work. She loves a challenge and throws herself enthusiastically into each project. I enjoy going into her shop to find out what new project she is working on!! This small very unassuming shop in Winthrop is an absolute gem. I have difficult measurements (Athletic, 48 shoulders and 34 waist) and needed many suits fitted. Besides spending 1k each on custom made suits I have to buy to fit my shoulders then literally EVERYTHING has to be custom fit there after. The seamstress really takes her time to get to know you and how you like your fit. She takes great pride in her work and if something is off even by a cinch from what she imagined she will alter again as she is a perfectionist. The prices can't be beat either! She is great! She has repurposed a mother-in-law 3 piece gown/jacket into a fashionable 3 piece cocktail ensemble for my wife. For me, she has remade designer sport jackets into custom fit pieces. She has remade beachwear, fashioned a custom upholstered lap desk, redid sportswear to acceptable fit, transformed a dress shirt from button cuffs to cufflinks, as well as simple hemming of pants or coats. She turned worn cuffs on my 30 year old Burberry trench coat greatly extending its life. She is a wonderful, very charming Master Tailor whose prices represent extraordinary value. read more

Sew What is absolutely my go-to spot for any and all alterations for me and my husband. Jas has fixed every item I've brought her. From an intricate marigold silk gown, to a broken zipper in my husband's military uniform. She's thorough, quick, she texts me when my items are ready, she accepts Venmo transfers and most importantly, she's more than reasonable when it comes to deposits/cost. A good seamstress/dressmaker is very hard to come by, and I personally don't run into many. She's a hard-working woman who does great work and it is worth what she is charging. read more

Jas is one-of-a-kind. She is a master of her craft. I needed pants tapered for a wedding that was in a week. The chain that "custom" made the suit had left them as baggy as tents.
