I got these straight leg mom jeans that I ordered online, one faux green leather pants, and two white and black pants that were too long. I found this place online and decided to come here to fix all of my pants. The mom jean gave me a gap in the back and was too long. It also needed to be fixed in the thigh area as it was too wide and slouchy for my liking. The other three pants were just too long, but they fit me good from my waist. I was so nervous that the mom jean was not going to come out nice because that jean was not stretchy jean material and was hard. I was also nervous about the green faux leather pants looking awful because of the material. Within a week I was called to pick up all my pants and let me tell you they look AMAZING! I tried them on before leaving and I was very impressed. The jean looks so perfect as if she never touched it! It fit me perfectly from my waist, no back gap, thigh area was fixed, and it wasn't long anymore just perfect! The green faux leather pants look amazing as well. I bought all these pants with me on vacation and my girls could not stop complimenting me. I also referred my mom to come here to get her dress altered for a high school graduation. It's so hard to find a good dry cleaner and tailor that's reasonable these days. This is why I'm glad I live close to Orlan's in Chelsea. It really is a Chelsea hidden gem. I had a pocket fixed in a pea coat I love. I knew this was going to be a difficult job because the entire pocket would have to be replaced, and you had to do it without taking the lining off. She said it would be a week, which is fine since I knew this was going to be a hard fix. But when I picked up the jacket, the replaced pocket was wonderfully done. The material she chose was even better than the original pocket. I was extremely happy and impressed. I love this jacket and I was upset when the pocket ripped. Oh and the price? 30 bucks. Still not bad for something that took a few hours to fix. And still cheaper than a new pea coat. I've also used the dry cleaning service many, many times, along with having suits altered there. I've never had a problem and the prices are extremely reasonable. The ladies who work the counter are always so friendly. It really is a Chelsea gem. So if you're in Chelsea and need a dry cleaner or a tailor, do not hesitate and just go to Orlan's. You won't regret it. read more

Tucked away in Chelsea is this little tailoring and dry cleaning shop. The husband and wife owners are very nice and, from my experience, very good at what they do -- and for a very reasonable price. Aside from hemming various pants and even shirts for me, I also needed the waist taken in on a pair of jeans. As she was marking the waist she asked if I wanted the legs tapered, too. I hadn't even thought to ask if that could be done. It was a great suggestion. The result? Custom jeans! Then I wondered if they could rescue a light coat. Even though I bought it in 1998 (yes, 1998), I still liked the design and the outer material was in fine shape, but the lining looked like it had been a play-thing for lions (I probably shouldn't admit the condition it was in; I was in denial!). So I dropped it off and, voila, a couple of weeks later I had a like-new coat. In fact, the lining looks store bought -- complete with the designer label and "dry clean only" tag [see pic]. It actually might be nicer than the original. Nice enough, in fact, that I don't think I would have minded if Mr. Orlan had kicked the Bill Blass label to the curb and sewn his own in its place. :-) read more

Thanks to the fantastic reviews I came here and got excellent and fast service. Had my husband's (very dirty) suit , shirt and tie cleaned and also a bridesmaid's dress needing to be altered asap done here a month ago. The lady at the front was so very nice and accommodating to our schedule. I will say their prices have changed a bit but I can understand why - their quality is great and I have decided I will not be going anywhere else. Other places near me are either rude or quality isn't great. AND Orlan's takes other forms of payment other than cash. A win! read more

I initially went to these folks because they are in my town and because there was a review on here about a very successful wedding-dress alteration. I bought a used wedding dress and needed it altered- the top taken in, the neckline lowered, and pockets added on the side seams. They did a great job with the pockets, and an ok job taking in the bodice. I never got to meet Orlan himself- I met his wife and son. He works in their Dorchester store. I hoped that if I could speak with him in person and try the dress on with him there, I would be able to explain what I needed done. Unfortunately, he was never there, although I called ahead several times to ask if he would be. Must have been lost in translation. Basically, they told me this was as far as they could go with the dress. I wish I had left the moment they told me the neckline could not be lowered. I found a wonderful woman in Revere who does alterations and she was able to lower it no problem, and take in the bodice adequately so I wasn't swimming in it. My takeaway- this is probably a great place to go for basic alterations- hems being taken up or let down, etc. But if you have something more complex, and you are hoping to deal face to face with the person doing the actual work, then I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. read more

With all of the positive reviews I felt confident there would be not problems with bringing a three piece suit and a matching white button up dress shirt to them. Boy was I wrong. The Drop Off: The mother was sizing me up and all the garments but she didn't speak English well. So I told her daughter what I wanted in English (I do not speak Spanish) and her daughter relayed it to her mother in Spanish. The receipt's (I received two at the drop off), showed each request was charged and billed properly and counting her tip too. All needed to be paid up front. The Pickup: When I was picking up the suit, I thought I was going to get a chance to try it on in their one booth. Nope.They where busy and I was rushed out. The Inspection: Just got back into my flat (Orlan's is closed now) and the first thing I noticed, they stapled my nice suit bag with another receipt (this is a really nice suit bag, not the cheap type). Okay, whatever, then as I am taking the staples of the suit bag I notice four rather big holes in the bag and a scuffed up area all at the back of the shoulder on the left side of the bag. First thing pops to mind, "Oh dear, now I am going to check out everything thoroughly". I paid $131 up front for, 1) the jacket to have the sleeves shortened and dry cleaned, 2) to have the white button up dress shirt to also have the sleeves shortened and then dry cleaned, 3) to have the paints legs shortened, hemmed, tapered and dry cleaned and 4) to fix a long loose thread on the vest (Near a button, you can't miss it, the thread sticks out like a sore thumb) and then dry cleaned. What I got, 1) a dry cleaned jacket with uneven sleeves. The left sleeve was never touched. The right sleeve was touched and now it is around 3/4" to 1" shorter but it is still not sized correctly and also still too long. 2) The vest was dry cleaned but she never touched the long thread by the button that she charged me $5 to fix. 3) The white button up dress shirt was dry cleaned but she never shortened the sleeves and they are still too long. 4) The dress pants were dry cleaned and yes, she did shorten, tapper and hem them. It is Friday evening and it is the weekend. I need my suit Monday morning and they had it for a week already. Yeah, I am pretty much screwed. Horrible service, no two ways about it. I usually go to a tailor in Medford, but since I moved, Orlan's was closer to my home. I went to have my suit sleeves taken in and. Pants hemmed and tapered. I had no issues dropping my suit off, and the ladies were very nice. On my day of pickup, I was in a rush to get home before the evening rush started and so I just paid for the alterations and went home without trying the pants on. When I got the chance to put my pants on, it was 3 inches too long! It wasn't hemmed to the proper length that the lady had marked and pinned. Also, the pants weren't tapered at all either. Now I feel dumb for leaving a tip! Do yourself a favor and consider one of the many other great establishments to get your clothes tailored. As nice as everyone is, this place doesn't seem to pay close attention to details which are very important. Go somewhere that will do what you ask and pay for. read more

This is a great find in my little neighborhood of Chelsea. The woman who does the work is sweet as can be and her son helps out with running the shop. I took 4 pairs of (expensive!!!) jeans to be hemmed and she did a perfect new hem on all of them. Can't even tell they were hemmed at all. I also took a dress that an uneven hemline that's just not my style and I asked her to just make it even all the way around. You'd never know and I'm pretty sure she did a better hem than the original. She also repaired a blouse and completely rebuttoned it after a drycleaner ripped off the original buttons and properly secured buttons on my favorite raincoat. All of this was under $70 and I feel like I have new wardrobe. I will definitely keep her mind the next time I find something shopping that's just a wee bit big. read more

The best tailors hands down! The wife and husband own the two shops!I have a very detailed, complicated (lots of lace and pearls) wedding dress that was big on me. They fit it to a T! In super fast timing. A lot of missing pearls were replaced. In order to hem the bottom the lace had to be taken off and be stitched back on! Very, very reasonable pricing for the job I needed done. I brought my shirts and slacks here for a long time I moved. They are very careful with your clothes. The prices are reasonable. You can take your stuff here and not worry about it while they dry clean it. The reason you don't have to worry about it is because they are very careful.
