My experience w/the Parking guy was an aggressive and intimidating moment today. I literally wanted to get in my car as fast as I could to avoid the situation. I parked in what looked to be a parking spot and after spending $70 at Sevanada and came out with this man reprimanding me over and over until I literally got in my car and closed the door. He made sure I knew how I inconvenienced everyone in the parking lot and to never do that again. I will not go back. I've been going there for 30 years. I went to this place because its hella vegan and vegetarian and has basically everything you need for this lifestyle. I've been on more than 15-20 occasions and I've never left a review. I figured it was a one off. And then a 2 off and then a 3 off and now I'm like no.... its them. Every time I'm at this store I'm ignored. Amazing vegan selections especially the wide selection and unique prepared foods. Beware of their baked goods however. The strawberry cake I got was the worst I've ever tasted in my life. It's essentially a brick disguised as a cake. Butterfly kisses cakes are incredible but not the store brand. Overall the staff are friendly but it is pricey. read more

This is a great one stop shop for your organic foods, vegan dishes and home remedies! Sevanada market is located in little five points in an eclectic area. I've been about a dozen times since moving to the area and they always come through with rare to find and creative items for skincare, health remedies and dope essential oils. I get my Shea Butter and soaps from here even though they tend to be pricier than average the quality is well worth it! On the LOW you gotta try the vegan Mac and cheese either spicy or regular both are hella delicious. They also have alkaline water by bulk and a lot of black owned food products that are homegrown to ATL. Parking lot is spacious, service is so so depending on who's register you pull up on. The store is great but the security guards have had absolutely horrible customer service. On 2/6/21, we arrived at the store 10 minutes before closing just to get a refill on water as we were approaching the door at 551pm,the security guard who was on the phone, stopped us and said that the store is closed and we could not come in we asked him if since its not actually 6pm, could we run in and get water? The security guard began to talk about my partner and I to the person he was speaking to on the phone saying, "people act like they do not understand.." he was extremely rude. Although the policy may have changed to accommodate an unplanned circumstance, the store hours were 12pm to 6pm, the store closed significantly earlier, and several people were treated in a less than professional way. read more

I hate to do this because the store has good items and 5 gallon Alkaline water at a reasonable price. We got to the store at 5:51 pm. The security guard on Saturday Feb 6th 5:51pm was unprofessional and rude. it didn't provide me and my partner with a desire to continue business with your company. Up until recently We've never had any issues to this level prior and I feel that me and my partner have been treated unjustly. The security guards seemed to have a complex at times. First time was with a light skin security guard who seem to have chip on his shoulder. However We both shrugged it off. This is not acceptable at all. Special diet? IBS? Other gut issues? Vegetarian? Vegan? Health conscious? Gluten-free? This is your place! Now.... you can't complete a full grocery shop at this store. It is small and quaint but has options that would be difficult to find elsewhere. Sure Whole Foods (Whole check) would have some of the options here but who wants to pay that much? Plus, don't we like supporting local businesses. This place is located in L5P and has its own parking lot. The produce department is rather small but most of the options are organic. I like to stop in and get the ginger beer or hibiscuis juice. There is no meat that you can buy here but a lot of "meatless" options. Another thing that I like about this place is that they have food that's already cooked. I got the vegan potstickers and veggie noodles (both vegan) and they were so flavorful! I was impressed. I am not vegan or vegetarian but definitely health conscious. There are also options like vegan carrot cake. Feed that to the "average" person and I guarantee they will not be able to tell that it is vegan. In addition to food, there are also options like soaps, vitamins and oils. Absolutely love this place! Entire market has natural products ranging from beauty products to food. I noticed they also serve food, there was a line so I didn't get to grab a bite. I was in the store for almost 45 minutes just browsing the herbs and pills. I found some sea moss and a smoked spicy kale salad that was so good! The people who worked there were very friendly and knew the products well. Which made it easier for me to shop because I would had been in there all day, just out of curiosity with most of the products. This is the place to go if you're really into the vegan lifestyle, not that many places in Atlanta. Also it's convenient right in Little 5 points. This is the vegetarians paradise! I love shopping here except I wish it was much closer to me then it is. And, it's also a bit on the pricey side which is why I don't do the bulk of my grocery shopping here. I go here for specialty items, like vitamins, soaps, herbs, teas, and candles which they have a lot to choose from. I usually like to grab a coupon booklet on my way in so don't forget to grab yours. It usually has a few of the items I need that day. They also have a salad bar that I stop at to grab a quick snack. It's usually stocked with fresh veggies but on occasion they have been a little slack on that. For example, the lettuce is a bit on the withered side for my liking. When I'm extra hungry I like to grab a plate of hot cooked, delicious vegetarian food to go. Everything is cooked with all vegan ingredients and taste good!! read more

If you are looking for a unique one stop shop healthy food options and health related products this one of the places to visit. They offer a hot bar with varied meat or vegetarian meal options located in the back the shop. The sell vitamins, body care, fresh produce, and juices, frozen foods, and snacks. Customer service is really great. They are helpful explaining products or helping you find what your looking for. It's very family friendly. Very community oriented feel. The wait in lines isn't long. Overall good experience. I had breakfast from the hot bar but I was hungry so forgot to take pics. I had potatoes and two sausages. It was good. Prices are reasonable but some prices might be slightly higher on some items in comparison to your local grocery store. I'll be back to try some things I saw on my last visit. read more

Love this little grocer-been going here for years. Great selection of vegetarian foods. Especially good prepared food selection! and hot bar! They have a great herbal section with oils and shampoos/soaps. Employees in this section (as well as cashiers) are helpful and engaging. Produce and other grocery prices are pretty steep but I love that it's a coop and that they really support local. Great spot for your quick natural needs. read more

10/2020 | So I've been away from Atlanta now for close to 26 years and I remember when Sevananda started back in the day. Going back recently just wasn't the same or anywhere close to the same. If it's your only option, I guess it'll do but a few things stood out that caused me to write this review. I'm actually disappointed that an Atlanta establishment this legendary that was actually a pioneer in the health space in the 90's has gone down. For starters theres now security at the entrance - I guess thats a sign of the times but its not a good or welcoming look. The staff I came in contact with was helpful to some degree, albeit the person had a noticeable cough or what appeared to be a cold. No bueno considering the nature of the store is that of a health market and the fact that we're in the midst of a global covid pandemic. If you're sick, just stay home. Their mask was also inside out. On a good note, I do respect the fact that there was some effort in putting hand sanitizer at the entrance, although during these times it would've been nicer if there were wipes for the hand baskets and carts like most stores have now. Speaking of the pandemic, one thing that really really disturbed me was the fact that the bulk food section was still open for full-on service allowing customers to touch communal handles and help themselves to these items. Ew Yuck! I also expected to go there and get some nice baked goods but was highly disappointed at the selection as well as the total selection of prepared food in general. The only thing that looked good was an overpriced pumpkin cream torte in the refrigerated section for $6 for a tiny two bite square. Heck for a couple dollars more I could've gotten a whole key lime pie at the dekalb farmers market. I was also expecting to go there and get some alkaline water. However the machines were not properly labeled with the ph levels. I almost wonder if it was even alkaline at all. All three machines were labeled an alkalinity of 8+. What is it exactly?? Is it 8.5, 9 or 10?? It was after this experience that I decided to walk away with just a package each of super hit and nag champa incense and my over priced pumpkin torte; disappointed that my nostalgic Sevananda was forever gone. Seems as though this store has seem its good days. I got a "worn" feel from it all together. It needs new management and a new overhaul. And for it to be labeled a co-op market, the prices were pretty high. I came home and ordered my items online for much cheaper. Oh well, my Sevananda days are over. There are other great health markets in Atlanta that will get my business from now on. read more

I have never seen a more diverse selection of veggie meats anywhere, I didn't even know some of these products existed! Their fresh produce is BEAUTIFUL and so well priced, plus they have tons of produce that I've been unable to find at other stores. Huge selection of handmade soaps and essential oils, the whole store smells good. Security at the door enforcing masks and a hand sanitizing station at the entrance to help keep you safe. This place is not really a 4-star business but deserves more than 3 stars. While the store is advertised as "Natural Foods", you can find lots of brands that you find at chain stores like, Kroger or Publix. They have a good selection of pulses and lentils and you can buy the amount you need and not a fixed pre-packed amount and the prices are reasonable considering the profile of the store. Further by buying things in the quantity you need results in less wastage so economical overall. They have a food bar where they serve a variety of sandwiches and also a few hot dishes. The biggest issue is their customer service. While they have a few lanes, only one was open at mid-day on Sunday, when the store was quite busy. I had a few things and went to the customer care counter that was open for processing small orders. Well, that did not help. It seems this is a store that has a regular clientele and everyone knows everyone, where shopping does not end when you by things, it is completed when you have a chat with the cashier. It is definitely worth a visit, but go there only if you have time, not if you are in a hurry! read more

Amazing selection of really high-quality food. A bit pricey, but worth it. Plus they have their own parking lot in the middle of L5P, which can not be said about most other places in the area. Only drawback is lack of customer service. Cashiers are largely unfriendly, flat, and emotionless. They are very helpful, though! ( I wonder what matters more. I suppose they're not paid to be friendly.) The cashier sent me back to the prepared foods section to request ice, (FREE OF CHARGE. WIN!) When I got there, another customer was waiting, and 4 employees were standing behind the counter having separate conversations. Not once was I or the customer that had already been waiting acknowledged. The other customer walked away. I caught another employee who pretended not to see me standing there as he was walking by. I asked him to find someone to help me. He assured me he would and walked through a door to the back of the store. When he came back out that door, he too pretended not to see me as he walked directly past me. What is that about? Otherwise, great selection of products. Service - FAIL. read more

Yesterday, I was in need of some Coconut oil as well as Tea Tree oil. Seavananda was recommended to me when I first moved to Atlanta but I hadn't had a reason to go there just yet. Instead of driving to Trader Joes, I decided to support this co-op and shopped at Sevananda for the first time. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Mike (who I am assuming might have been the manager on duty). He helped me find several different brands of Tea Tree oil before leaving me to explore the rest of the store on my own. I appreciated the full-stocked and organized shelves, the great customer service as well as the product selection itself. It felt like I was at a neighborhood spot but with all the comforts you'd regularly find in a grocery store. I will definitely be back for some of the custom soaps and herbal remedies that I saw but didn't get a chance to really look through. read more

I've read the reviews and most are all very good. It's good that others are still having good experiences. I've shopped here about 5 to 9 times, and my experiences were pretty good in the past. I ask questions when I need to and really scrutinize labels, as I have food sensitivities/allergies. This trip I still experienced SOME polite and respectful staff. Unfortunately, I experienced some rude staff too. Upon exiting, I reviewed my bill and noticed they charged me for a food item separately instead of by the pound (rolls), which had never occurred. I re-entered the store and went to what looked like customer service to inquire to make sure I was charged correctly, as the man who served the food did not inform me that the cost was separate and I did not see anything posted. I must admit, with all the questions I usually ask when I am spending my money, I did not think to ask the cost of the item. As I stood waiting my turn, the black woman with short, natural, curly hair on the register very obviously appeared to be talking about me. She turned to the security guard a few times and I heard her saying, "Don't nobody got time for this" or "I don't have time for this," and "I don't have any answers for you." It seemed she was referring to me as I was the only one who obviously had a question, since I had just re-entered, had bagged groceries, and was holding my receipt. I am always very polite. Usually I am, unfortunately, more polite than people working in customer service. By this, I mean I am usually the one who says "hello," "please," and "thank you," even though they do not. But I had not even made it to the counter yet. While she did not have an attitude when she explained that it is their policy/custom to charge for the item, I felt uncomfortable because of the comments I heard her project earlier. I did not hear everything she said, but it was like some things she said softly on purpose, and other things she did not quite mind if I heard. At the end she did not say, "thank you," and fortunately I did not either, as I have been re-training myself not to be so polite (so I won't be offended when I have more customer service skills than employees). This may sound silly, but I do not like to be made to feel uncomfortable because I have a question about my money. This was after standing in a long line that exceeded the length of the grocery aisle because only two registers were open. The second register, where the rude woman was stationed, was for 10 items or less. Fortunately, they eventually opened one more register/check-out lane. In the past there are usually more open registers. With breathing problems unrelated to COVID, standing in such a long line with a mask is already very difficult for me. And the anxiety it causes just exacerbates things. Had I known the line would be so long, I would have shopped on a different day. The rude woman definitely got her point across.
