I haven't had food from Sevan chicken in a looooooong time. For the holidays I picked up a bunch of food for the family and was not only delightfully pleased at the flavor and textures of the meal, but also the pricing. We got two value packs (2 whole chickens + 3 sides per chicken), 10 falafels (which come with some lettuce, chopped onions, and chopped tomatoes) and a large order of fries. For the sides we did two sides of rice per chicken (which ended up being quite a lot even for a group of 8 -- I'd probably should have opted for two sides worth of rice instead of four), one side of hummus, and one side of beans. Beans and hummus were really delicious, the chickens juicy and very tender (fell apart easily which is how I like it), and the falafels small and compact yet very flavorful. The fries were a little soft for my personal taste and the rice was also a little plain -- I think it was saffron rice potentially? Overall I really enjoyed it and it cost ~$58 for all of that food, which for me was a good price especially considering we've been subsisting off of leftovers for three days now. read more

This review is solely based on their chicken. Its located pretty close to my house and we just moved the glendale so we thought we'd check it out. The chicken at this place was so fresh, juicy and hot! It was really great. The rice pilaf was meh and the hummus was very bland. The pita was just ordinary. Ordered on grubhub because I felt like changing it up from my usual spot. What a mistake. Chicken was so so, all of the salads were way to salty and didn't taste fresh. Somebody really messed up the tabouleh because it was so salty my husband and I both looked at each other when we took our first bite and we both spit it out. We both love salt but this was obviously a recipe error made by whoever prepared it. The pita is not fresh, it's store bought which is really sad because pita isn't even that difficult to make. A big fan of Armenian rotisserie chicken. I've been to zankou chicken which is known amongst the Armenian community, but sevan is up there with them. A smaller chain and hole in the wall. Not too busy and you can tell its family-owned. I ordered a whole chicken with a side of garlic spread. I added a side of falafel. Everything was great and fast. Chicken tasted exactly like zankou. It must be an Armenian marinade because its identical. Garlic spread is a must! I did give it 4 star instead of 5 because the second time around it seemed like the chicken wasn't fresh, but it was towards the end of the day so I understand. I will still go back. My friends and I are always looking for new places to eat. We decided on this one from a list of United Mileage Club restaurants in our area. Read a lot of reviews so we went in with high expectations. I must say, they lived up to most of the reviews. As I've never eaten at Zankou's, I cannot compare. But the food was better than good. We had the value meal (whole chicken, 3 medium sides) rice, beans, salad, humous and chicken tacos. So much food for under $25. Great deal. You order at register, pick up your food and sit down or take out. The lady working the cash register was amazing. Very kind and helpful and explained the menu to us. We sat outside and they turned the music on for us while we ate. We went back in several times for refills on our water and at the end, bagging up the leftovers. They were always nice. Rice & beans were basic. Salad was a good side. Chicken tacos were huge. Rotisserie chicken was moist. ( A little chewy, but we came later in the day). My friends loved the garlic sauce. I wasn't that impressed, but it wasn't bad. Overall it's a great place for a good healthy meal. Definitely beats fast food or El Pollo Loco. read more

I went here for the first time last weekend. I drove past it and turned around because I felt like having chicken. I've driven past it many times and always thought about trying it. The decor is very plain. Nothing very special. The food was very good however. I had 1/2 a chicken and the skin was very tasty. The meat was a little soft and soggy, but I didn't mind that much. Great business! Very friendly! Best neighbors I could ask for. Had their chicken and fries a couple of times which was okay, but their pita bread was great!!! I constantly will purchase soda from them when I am sick or feel under the weather and they are good at recognizing me. A little noisy at nights, but who's neighbor isn't? How I miss this place! I loved it when I lived in Glendale. After years of seeing their cheesy low-budget commercials on cable, we were over there for an appointment at Kaiser, when we finally decided, we're right there, so why the hell not, and it was delicious! Better than Zankou by a mile. This little mom and poppish place is tiny and nothing to look at, but first impressions melt away as you take that first bite of juicy chicken (dark meat, at least - I don't like white meat). The skin is crispy and juicy too. This is also where the word "broasted" entered my vernacular. It's apparently some kind of frying process, despite the name sounding like a portmanteau of broiling and roasting. I also had the filet mignon kebabs once. They were juicy and flavorful, though I really don't think they were filet mignon. They were chewier than filet mignon, but not bad, and the flavor was pretty good. And the pita that soaks up all the juices gets really tasty (though messy) at the end. Their eggplant hummus is better than the regular hummus. That's all I've ever had there so I can't vouch for anything else. Service is not super chatty but I wouldn't call it rude. Curt, maybe. Could be a language barrier issue or cultural, I'm not too familiar. read more

Sevan chicken in Glendale is a must have for me. God gave the Armenian people two talents; the ability to go 80mph in a 35mph zone everyday without getting speeding tickets and the power to cook a mean chicken. My first experience with Sevan was when I wanted a whole chicken and didn't want to cook it myself. I was recently unsatisfied with the KFC and Pollo Loco whole chicken so I went to Sevan because I enjoy large amounts of chicken, cheap. The chicken was nothing short of succulent. Hot, oily, well seasoned and well prepared for $8.95. A bargain that includes a side of pitas and sauce. The guy who cooks the chicken all day looks like "Shrek" and he should be given an award for the most oil ever used to baste chicken. If you like Jim Morrison and lots of chicken, Sevan's the place for your fowl fix. read more

What is up with this place? I used to like it ALOT and it was the mom & pop version of the now Zankou franchise. The chicken used to be super moist and succulent but now it's a little dry. I will say they do have much bigger portions ... You do indeed get more bang for your buck, but this place has fallen off in freshness. we always only get the chicken, but my mom ordered the filet mignon kabab plate recently. it took a bit longer than usual to get this plate but the meat was super tender and flavorful. the chicken is always always always moist and sooo tasty. but dont forget to get the garlic sauce! if you like zankou, sevan is 10000000x better. ive had zankou a couple of times and its always so dry and tasteless. if you want kabobs... My second time trying this place. First time wasnt so great so i thought i should give it a 2nd attempt. Ordered the Chicken Kabob plate + drink = $11. Chicken had zero flavor. From the looks alone, the kabob looked promising but had no taste whatsoever. Plate doesnt come with garlic paste either. The hummus was decent though. Rice was ok. Yum! I love Sevan's chicken :) You walk in, and it's not much. Just a tiny counter with a register and limited seating. But don't let this shanty place fool you... They have AMAZING lunch/dinner deals. Buy 2 chicken deals, get one free! How awesome! Especially if you're going to buy food for the fam or a group of friends. The chicken plate comes with half a chicken and 2 side. I usually get fries, rice or hummus. So yummy all three! The chicken is PERFECT.. tender & juicy. AND it comes with pita bread and this AMAZING garlic sauce. Omg the garlic sauce IS TO DIE FOR. ASK FOR EXTRA GARLIC SAUCE AND PAY THE EXTRA FEW CENTS. So worth it and you'll def need it. Awesome. Rice is not really my thing, but they do give you a lot. And you get to choose your sides, so that's equally awesome. I think I like the skin more here, it's darker and tastier. And I believe it's cheaper. I kind of want to go back and give the lady behind the register a wedgie-noogie combo. She had a major attitude when I asked her what was in the chicken sandwich. Mayo? No thanks, I don't want mayo in my chicken sandwich. I was thinking more along the lines of hummus or tahini. And I thought it would be more of a mediterranean pita sandwich, instead I was presented with a foil covered torpedo that leaked all over the bag and my car seat. Back at the office I was less then thrilled to see that it was literally shredded chicken (which was so dry and contained bone fragments in it), shredded lettuce and tomato slices inside a dry pita torpedo. Forget Zankou, come to Sevan! I'm Lebanese and I've turned my whole family on to this place. It's cheaper, and way better! Plus, they're nicer. The roasted chicken is cooked to perfection with it's crispy skin glistening before it hits your mouth. The filet mignon kabob is delicious. My suggestions: The hummus needs MORE lemon juice and garlic please. I wish they would offer tabbouleh or a cucumber or cabbage salad as a side. The sides are the downfall.
