Absolutely outstanding food. So many choices, and lots of vegan options, and you can even make non vegan dishes vegan by subbing stuff-all on the menu you don't have to figure it out yourself. The general tso cauliflower was so good, and the pasta (vegan) and ravioli were delish. Also got the squash enchiladas, with homemade tortillas chips, also excellent. Great beer/wine/cocktail menu as well. The vegan key lime was good, it was made with coconut something so had that flavor in it as well. Tasty but you must like coconut. The orange cake with frosting was sooooo gooood, vegan frosting, nice and thick! Cake was moist & just overall everything was really well done. Met some friends from the Onsted area here, it was a convenient easy-on-easy-off freeway location, and midway between of us. We all have differing food preferences and needs, from vegan to vegetarian to gluten-free, and we were all easily accommodated. FYI, the gluten-free menu isn't included on the regular menu so my friend had to ask for it. Seva is located in the Westgate strip mall which in itself is a bit unique. There are the typical strip mall type stores but also a library along with Seva. Even with just the front strip windows, the inside is quite bright, and the window front is decorated beautifully with tons of plants, vines, and bottles of liquor. Which is pretty smart because I didn't think they would sell liquor but found out that they have a full bar. One of my friends and I chose a vodka lavender lemondrop, another had a wine, and another had a non-alcoholic iced ginger spritzer. That lavender lemondrop was delicious! The house- made lavender simple syrup was perfect and the drink itself wasn't too sweet with just enough tang. I ordered the Enchiladas Calabasas which is a butternut squash burrito with cream cheese, green onions, and Chihuahua cheese served with a spicy tomato sauce that I got in the side. I didn't taste a whole lot of the cream cheese or the Chihuahua cheese, which I would have liked a little more of. I also ordered the avocado pasta salad to go for my lunch the next day, which included at least quarter, if not a half of an avocado, and was creamy and filling. They are still social distancing and filling to 50% capacity and they have a sign at the front stating that they, like everyone else are short-staffed and to please be patient. Our service was fine and no complaints at all in that regard. We were greeted with a smile and sent off with a well wish for a good rest of our night. Overall a pleasant dining experience. read more

Overall, very good! We started with General Tso's cauliflower, which was a special. Cauliflower was cooked beautifully and was smooth. The crisp exterior and sauce was very good - and thankfully not as spiced as some restaurants make the Generals dishes. I had the Beyond Burger sandwich. I have had several meatless burgers but this was the closest in texture to actual ground beef - I am not vegan but wanted to mention the texture as it may be a bit creepy if you don't eat meat. I have come here a handful of times over the years and I've always been disappointed in the food. The vegan bruschetta is fine and I find the yam fries good! And this visit I got the vegan hot chocolate and the vegan strawberry milk which I was impressed with. We ordered the vegan mac n cheese and the vegan tempeh rueben. The mac n cheese was bland and just didn't feel like it had any love in it. The rueben was overstuffed with cheese which made it slimy and unappetizing. There was hardly any tempeh and the sauce in the rueben made the sandwich a soggy mess. I feel like I've tried every vegan option on the menu, some options multiple times, and have never found something I would consider appetizing. If forced to come here again I would just order a milkshake and yam fries. The other negative aspect of this restaurant is how expensive it is! At the end of the day I'm happy this place has vegan options, but there are so many other great vegan restaurants in the area that leave this place to shame. It's been a few years so I thought I'd update this baby. Luckily, I still really enjoy the whole Seva experience! From the delicious apps (gouda tots! General Tso cauliflower!) to the amazing entrees. I've been on a healthy eating kick lately so at our last meal here I went for the chickpea-spinach salad with grilled haloumi. The salad with a fresh mix of spinach, garbanzo-lemon salsa, avocado, cucumbers, tomatoes and sunflower seeds, with a roasted red pepper dressing. The grilled haloumi was a nice salty topping and alternative to faux meats that you usually find as an added protein. I can never say no to cheese! My husband got the tempeh reuben and as a general rule I'm not a huge fan of reubens, vegetarian or otherwise (I'm a bad Polish gal who doesn't much care for sauerkraut), but I took a bite of this one and it was quite tasty. And the yam fries? So good. I kept stealing them off my husband's plate. I also love their mocktails. I'm not dry but I've been finding lately that I've been preferring to stay away from the sauce and their non-alcoholic options are really lovely. Most recently I had the Golden Light which is carrot and orange juices mixed with coconut milk & turmeric. Not too sweet but refreshing! If you do want something a little stronger there are nice cocktails, wine options, and beers both bottled and on draft. Easy parking since it's in the Westgate shopping center. Don't let its strip mall status fool you. This is a tasty, healthy option for dining on the west side of the city! read more

Second time here for dinner in as many days. Half price drafts, wine and apps from 3 - 7 pm. Lots of healthy food options, which I look for when traveling (as I am again the week.). Heads up: happy hour at the bar and high tops only. Last night I had the blistered shishito peppers and the pad Thai. As delicious as advertised. Tonight, I'm thinking the cilantro peanut stir fry. Hmmmm. Oh, and having the shishito peppers again. Because the wine prices are great and the HH is daily, wine bottles are freshly opened each day so little worry about paying for a skunky glass o vino. I generally sit at restaurant bars for dinner when traveling. There's a kind of anonymity there without being conspicuously solo. Seva was no exception. Bartender Michelle paid close attention to drink and water levels without smothering. (Don't you love running into a professional barkeep who does what they do well and adds panache to the profession?) Regrettably not all the cities I frequent have a place like Seva. A hearty vegetarian place. It's really tasty, especially the black bean and sweet potato quesadilla. Note though that just because it's vegetarian it's not necessarily healthy. Lots of the food is deep fried, and the California tofu scramble I got was pretty greasy, both from the scramble portion and the potatoes which I think were deep fried (I can't imagine how else to get them that crispy!). Not much at this place is really that good anymore, and the prices are outrageous for what you get since they raised the costs. I know we live in an inflation age but the prices do not justify the taste of the food. There are a few good options like the breakfast meals and deserts/drinks, but overall the menu items lack flavor/ just really aren't that good for the price you pay. Many other places in the area that offer vegan food at a much better price! Will likely not eat here again unfortunately after frequenting the place many times over the course of the last 8 years. read more

This was our first visit to Seva since before the pandemic and we were pleased to find that very little has changed. The vegan/vegetarian menu items are substantial and most would please even the most ardent carnivore. So if you want to accommodate a vegan/vegetarian companion without suffering, this is your place. As one would expect, the salads are creative and substantial, you can't go wrong here. One of my favorites is the Pad Thai, a typical Thai creation using tofu as the protein. The "breakfast all day" items are always good. On this Wednesday evening, the restaurant was only about a third full and the service as quick, pleasant and professional. We still miss the "funky" ambiance of the old downtown location (an old VFW hall) but he owners have done a credible job of simulating the atmosphere in a contemporary "white box" shopping center. All in all, this is a fine and solid choice for this type of food and we will return more regularly now that the pandemic seems to have abated sufficiently for normal life to resume. read more

The General Tso's fried cauliflower appetizer was very good even if it came out after our main course. Yum. I love this place. The staff is amazing, full of quirky and wonderful individuals. The food is great, memorable, and inclusive - it is the kind of place anyone can order something that they will enjoy eating, even if they aren't vegetarian, or even if they have allergies or dietary restrictions. It's the kind of place a lot of my omnivorous friends have commented that they don't mind eating vegetarian at. It's the kind of place I, for one, am very happy to eat vegan at. Plus, it's right up the road from me, which is extremely convenient, and this location is WAY better than the previous location downtown. Parking is amazing, by comparison, and accessibility is greatly improved. I am so on board. During the week, they have a really neat evening Happy Hour that the lady and I have frequented. Discounted drinks and half price appetizers, and they always have at least one or two beers/ciders on draft that are good. Their appetizers, though, are more than good (like Tony the Tiger says, they're GRRREAT!) - those Yam Fries are divine; the General Tso Cauliflower I've heard tell is even better than its real-world chicken equivalent (I wouldn't know, but I know I like it better than the General Tso Tofu I get other places in A2); the Squash Queso was surprisingly good; etc. They've also got a great Sunday Brunch, breakfast and lunch options, sweet and savory options. I really enjoy their breakfast options because, as a vegan, there aren't many breakfast options I can get somewhere other than maybe a bagel or bowl of oatmeal. It's really refreshing and rewarding to be able to sit down to a hearty breakfast like anyone else. Both the Vegan Veracruz and Tofu California are amazing dishes! Om nom nom. They've also got good vegetarian options - regular cheese and eggs and whatnot, so if you're not into eating outright vegan you don't have to. High quality ingredients and attentive service make this a good establishment for anyone who enjoys the experience of eating out. Come check this place out if you haven't. Slight redemption from my latest visit with Seva. While it did still take about 10 minutes for someone to show up and recognize we had been seated, our food and drink came out relatively fast afterward. Perhaps that's because we were ready to order all the things when they finally came to greet us..? I was sad to see the Vegan Breakfast was no longer on their brunch menu, but I tried their California Scramble which was just as delicious. Eggs scrambled with spinach, tomato and avocado and you get a size of roasted red potatoes and toast. Still wish the service would get better, but it was a better brunch spot to come on a busy Sunday afternoon since downtown Ann Arbor was a crowded mess with long waits every where. read more

So to disclose first, I'm a person that attempts paleo/whole 30 eating on the regular, so I was hoping that my first time eating here would be a breeze. Correct!! I ordered a charbroiled salad and it was fantastic! It had charbroiled veggies (zucchini, onion, bell pepper), over mixed greens, pecans, and house vinegarette. The best part? ALMOND CHEESE. I don't know how but it was surely wow (yeah, I'm a bit cheesy....pun!). It was the taste and texture or something like feta. Regardless, it was beautiful tasting on my plate. I'm a cheese girl, and I miss it, so I appreciated every bite. The portion was big and the price was fair. The decorations were neat to look at, especially local art. Then, I ordered the pad thai (SO many rave reviews about this!) and was quite disappointed. It was okay, but not very authentic and the flavors were a little off. Ann Arbor vegetarians should go here! Detroit Filling station gets a lot of pub because it's downtown, but Seva is excellent! Went there on a Friday night with a party of four and had no wait. Very casual vibe and prompt service. One of us got the peanut stir fry and it had great flavor and lots of veggies. Two of us got the grilled veggies salad, which in addition to tasty veggies had nice sesame-seed coated goat cheese. I got the Pad Thai and it had nice big chunks off egg & tofu with good flavor. We got bruschetta for an appetizer and it came loaded with pesto, tapenade, and that same goat cheese. Fairly good beer selection too. Only real downside is that Seva is in a strip mall so it's not a pretty location and there's no outdoor seating. The bathroom was also a bit grungy. read more

Seva is hands down my favorite vegan restaurant in Michigan!!! It's got great vibe, great servers, great food for a great price! I went for the restaurant week today and lunch is $15 for two dishes, it's so inexpensive and the food is super delicious! The picture shows the amount of food that my bf and I ate in one setting. So you can probably tell that we have a huge appetite. But the portion size is a bit smaller than other restaurant with similar price range. I honestly don't care about portion sizes because I get to try different dishes in this case. I highly recommend the spicy sesame stir fry, the tahini sauce is to die for. And the mushroom burger is also yummy! I got vegan cheese for all the food, and it tastes just as good as regular cheese. The TLT sandwich wrap is also very nice! I am definitely coming back for things I haven't tried this time! Even if you're not vegan you should try this place out because you don't even feel like you're having vegan food. My husband (non-vegan) took me here for my 40th birthday. We also had my 11 year old son (picky and non-vegan). We start with general tso's and it was FANTASTIC! My husband does not like cauliflower or vegan foods and we both raved over it. The people one table over even asked us what it was it smelled and looked so appetizing. My husband then got pad Thai (with tofu) and he said it was also excellent and he normally does not like tofu. He works in Auburn Hills and he said that it was better than anything near where he works! I got the fettuccini Alfredo pesto and my husband said it had a very strong basil flavor and he wasn't fond of it but I really enjoyed it. I got it with vegan Parmesan. I also ordered curry vegetable soup and really enjoyed that. My son, who didn't find anything on the menu that he was excited about decided to go with the Mac and cheese (vegetarian) and he really loved it. In fact, my husband already claimed it for work tomorrow. The place was bigger than I anticipated and it was pretty full of patrons. I met up with some friends here and found that it was a good spot for vegan food. I am not a Vegan but that does not mean it is not a good spot. My friends loved the various items that they ordered and come here regularly so I decided to check it out. The area was open and had a bar style seating along with your regular seating throughout the restaurant. There were also some interesting art hung on the the walls. I ordered the Pad Thai was made with tofu, eggs, sesame oil, sprouts, lime, cilantro and the peanuts on top. I am not usually a tofu fan but it is ok depending on how it is made. The texture and taste of this entree was actually pretty good. The noodles were prepared well and the combination of seasonings were a good mix. The waitress was friendly. I try to eat mostly Vegan foods, but I can't say I am fond of the execution of flavorless foods at most places, Seva did a great job with my stir fry with a peanut based sauce, it was flavorful and delicious, though it could have used a bit more spice to balance out the richness of the peanut sauce. I don't recommend the Virgil's root beer, definitely prefer IBC. Food and experience was good all an all, will try the one in Detroit since that's closer to me next time. read more
