For most other places, it would take them 2-3 times to get that shade of blonde. It's a cash only business, so come prepared. And to get it styled after the cut, it's an incremental fee. I actually prefer this b/c I'm rarely going somewhere right after, so I don't mind a simple blow dry. They share space with miGak nail salon, so I can usually do both in one visit.

I haven't had proper stylist work in a long time and had been hesitant to find one away from what I knew. It was great to have happened upon this place and had no problems booking the week of. The space is oozing with creativity (with other small business owners co-sharing the location including a cafe). I had Samer (absolutely recommend) who was new to the salon and had an incredible chat and great consultation. I wanted a low maintenance cut that would allow for my natural waves to come through as they grow. Very pleased thus far and the waves are coming through despite being pummeled by rain today. Also very grateful at how dog friendly the shop was. They allowed my little pup to sit and observe & she enjoyed every bit of fawning. Couldn't recommend more!!!

I was running a bit late, but they were super chill about it when I called ahead. Just a heads up that their phone screens calls, so don't be confused if you hit an answering machine first! Maryana was so patient with me. I didn't have a reference photo, but she talked me through some options and suggested layers to help with the volume I lost postpartum. She checked in with me the whole time to make sure I liked where things were going, which made me feel way more in control than I usually do at the cheaper salons I've gone to my whole life. It is definitely more of an investment, but the genuine customer care made it worth every penny. I actually walked out feeling happy with my hair for once. I highly recommend checking them out if you want a stress-free experience! Booking an appointment online through their website was easy. Maryana is $100 for a haircut, Keiji is $120. For my fellow drivers, parking isn't the easiest in this area thanks to 4th avenue, but I had luck on the side streets.

I got my hair done by Naho, who was an absolute gem and so sweet. She was great at listening to what I liked and didn't like after the trial appointment and made adjustments. I really liked the hairstyle she gave me, and the half up style she did held up until the last couple hours of the night. The whole team was efficient and friendly, and the salon environment is beautiful (and Momo the dog is perfect!). The only complaint I have was the curls, and to be fair I have pretty smooth, Asian hair that already doesn't want to hold a curl. But I did have a bridesmaid whose hair usually holds a curl, and we both had to redo them at the venue with a wand instead of an iron, so that they held better. Also, while I think the hairstyle looked great from the front, it did look a little bit odd from the side because of the volume of the half up look. It was straight by the end of the night, but with the dancing that may have happened anyway. The one bridesmaid who requested an updo instead of a half up look had the best time--it held all night and was absolutely gorgeous.

I spoke to Shushana and she helped me gather information the salon needed in order to move forward with booking the wedding date. She booked my trial date as well as my wedding date. Naho did my hair and makeup. During the trial, I showed her a picture of an updo I liked on Pinterest and she worked her magic. It came out beautiful. I pretty much gave her free rein on the makeup and the end result was great - not too much and not too little. Naho is very sweet. She asks you a lot of questions and I feel like she genuinely cares about you. She also brings her cute dog, Momo, to the salon. I decided to get a haircut and re-highlight my hair a few weeks before my wedding and I booked it on Easter Sunday since that was the only day before the wedding that Naho was available. Once again, my hair turned out great. Just a subtle change but a much needed one since I hadn't gotten a haircut in more than 6 months. My wedding morning was a little crazy and I got to the salon 15 mins late for my appointment, but they were very nice about it. Naho took her time with my hair and makeup and it shows. I never felt so beautiful! The other stylists worked on the members of the bridal party and they looked beautiful as well. I'm glad Dvir Salon is a preferred vendor for Deity because it's just around the corner and it made my life so much easier knowing I didn't have to rush around.

Do NOT get intimidated by all the fun hair styles and colors the artists have here. They know what they're doing!! Starting with the last point. I had scheduled an appointment at another salon nearby. When I walked in with my (small ESA) dog, I was immediately told that dogs weren't allowed at the salon. I was shocked and a bit defeated, but on the way home, I decided to check in with Badlands to see if they allow dogs and I'm so glad they do. First off, Jeanelle, the receptionist was completely kind, welcoming, and exactly the right energy that I could hope to encounter after such a disappointing experience. She not only confirmed that they allow dogs, but told me they had a slot available (walk-in on a Saturday) with their Senior Stylist, Aimee, and handed me a glass of wine while I waited. (Great start) I was also so happy to notice the rainbow flag on the door. I was already getting the vibe that everyone is welcome here. I'm already convinced that it was complete serendipity that I got paired with Aimee. She got me right away. You could tell she started out being a bit careful with her recommendations, as we had never met before. But I explained to her that I'm a boss at work and I love a bit of an edge, and asked her what she would do if she could do anything. I loved that recommendation even more. My hair is very thin and it's hard to make it look like it has volume. She recommended some higher layers, a bit more off the ends to nix the damaged hair, less length off the fringe framing my face, and a bit of a Bardot bang. What came out was absolutely perfect. I'm also a makeup artist on the side, and it's a blessing and a curse, but I have ACUTE attention to detail. When I say I had no feedback at the end of the cut, I mean it. And this never happens. One final thought - I may have been one of the people who was a bit intimidated by this place subconsciously at at first, often peering curiously through the windows as I passed on my way home from work, not knowing if I was "cool" enough. But then I remembered when I used to work at the MAC Cosmetics store. People would come in and right away tell me they didn't want the bright makeup I was wearing, and it finally clicked. As a professional, I would never put that makeup on them if they weren't comfortable as much as the artists here wouldn't give me a style I didn't want. I highly recommend coming to this salon if you want a cutting edge look and to feel welcomed. I'm so grateful to live a block from here and I look forward to seeing Aimee soon!
