Came in at happy hour which is $3 off all drinks from 4:00 to 8:00 Monday thru Friday. I got a great well-made old fashioned for $7.63! Old school prices for the old school ambiance. It's a bit of a hike getting up the stairs to the place but it is worth it as you feel transported back in time. Well decorated with great music. Great place to chill and relax from the summer heat. Will definitely return next time I'm in town.

We came in for lunch service and had some time to enjoy the greenhouse and walk around the beautifully maintained property. Once our table was ready, we were promptly greeted by our server Noah who did an excellent job walking is through the food and drinks. He was a really nice guy and we had some great conversation with him. Our food came out fast and was absolutely delicious and fresh. We got the pimento cheese appetizer with fresh chips and it was a crowd pleaser, especially with the addition of Wickle's pickles (which we had to get a jar of at Publix before heading home). I had the smash burger and it went great with the beer I ordered as well. Very tender and the fries went along perfectly with it. My friends got the grilled cheese and also the chicken picatta and everything was so hot and fresh. A very cozy and heartwarming afternoon lunch on a beautiful day. To wrap up, we visited the outdoor chicken barn to hang with the chickens and other wildlife. A great place to be!

Drinks were fabulous (try the Peach Mule) and we crushed the bacon flight (fought over who could get the last maple bite). Then we had shrimp and grits, bison burger and a Caesar. Our server was training tonight but his apprentice was just as knowledgeable and attentive - in fact he helped us with drink selection and ensured we had bottles of water flowing since we were so dehydrated from the day. Cannot wait to go back and try other things on the menu. Thank you friends at the Hound - hit the spot.

The wings were wayyy too big and felt undercooked, and the bacon flight was unremarkable. The entrees were also okay. The best was the shrimp and grits which I would return on this dish only. Evrything was just too too salty. My palate was ruined after a while. The rest were just okay, but I did like the greens. Standout was that bread pudding. Fried green tomatoes- wasn't the biggest fan of pimento cheese, but if that's your thing I'm sure it would have been delicious. I had the strawberry / spinach salad. It was decent but a little too much dressing on parts and a bit dry in others. The biscuits were a star of the other meal. I believe it effected some of the flavors of foods that were boiled in it, too. Gnocchi had some of the same off flavor. In addition, some of the flavors just feel way out of whack for totally unrelated reasons. Sauce that the duck came in was thin and overwhelmed by honey. The risotto it was served with seems like it should be rich and homey. But despite a crazy amount of added dairy still tasted thin and flat. Can't tell you why. Wonky seasoning? None of the dishes reflected any familiarity with acid to lighten or balance a dish. Fried green tomatoes were pretty mid despite a quality remoulade and a bunch of pimento cheese. Ingredients seem like they're decent quality. Desserts are legitimately top notch. Everyone recommends the peanut butter pie. And it is excellent, though pretty obviously not long out of the freezer. They have a rotating menu, I think depending on the season/time of year, but they have some consistent all-year-round items on the menu. I first came here on Valentine's weekend with my boyfriend, and absolutely loved it. Couldn't stop thinking about their truffle parm fries, nor their milk and cookies- finger licking good. This time around, we got the Farmer's Daughter (which made my usually anti-veggie boyfriend absolutely love btw), half-dozen Gulf Coast oysters, and fall-off-the-bone lamb shanks.
