Imagine having a kitchen fire and Farmers Insurance recommends this company. They tell you to leave the premises and let them take care of it. Now imagine them packing all your stuff & when it is returned, everything is damaged: Every floor lamp, every piece of wooden furniture scratched deeply, carpets & couches bleached out. They even stole my new garbage disposal, whoops. Then, for the next year, you notice how many things are missing: favorite clothes for the holidays, sentimental family items, like a brass cross from your grandmother's funeral. These things weren't anywhere near the fire. All my bathroom supplies, if new, were taken, from 3 bathrooms - also not near the fire. "We don't throw anything away." Well, I was disabled & came to the house after hours, seeing boxes marked to be tossed - hidden under newspaper, personal items. They had a few nice staff, but most were pirates, I'm sad to say. Please. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company. I usually don't go out of my way to leave bad reviews unless the company was completely unsatisfactory. We had a leak in our bathroom that also leaked into our kitchen pantry on the floor below, so we needed the floors/walls to be dried and to replace the flooring, walls, and kitchen pantry shelves. 1) Communication: They would show up on days that we did not schedule to have them come to the house, so they would come by while we at work and say that it was our fault that they couldn't do the work because we weren't home. We would text and call to get updates on either when they would come over to fix things but they would not respond. 2) When they finally completed the work (which took FOUR ALMOST FIVE MONTHS BY THE WAY), the kitchen pantry door wasn't completely screwed onto the hinge. And now, as we got the house inspection report back (we're selling our home), we didn't realize that they didn't put the electrical outlet back and it was just dangling under our bathroom sink. On, 03/04/2019 we had a water pipe burst and a huge water leak in one of our bedrooms. the company came out the same day said they couldn't do anything until they had a lab, test for mold and asbestos, so they left. Then I never heard from them again I literally had to call different Service Master franchises to try and get a hold of them and no luck! until I called headquarters and got me in touch with the right people a week later! I finally talked to someone and was told that the lab tester would here soon in the mean time Service Master shows up and sets up these blue filter boxes, I thought you couldn't do this until the lab test were done? because if there is mold or asbestos then we would be blowing contaminated air all over the house? Well the results came back positive for asbestos! and we had a broken filter box just blowing away! nice air potentially filled with asbestos! Reply to Mark R. Thanks for getting back to me. Here is what you can expect: they will make changes to THEIR liking without consulting you. They LOVE Home Depot- THAT Excursion will consistently take 2+hrs. Yesterday, 2 guys came to put wood caulking between stair risers and step (30 min), then they went to HD to buy paint, 2hrs+ later they arrived to do 20 min of work. The best part of this company is that the project manager was very responsive and communicative. Very helpful in accommodating my 96yo aunt whose house was damaged by unscrupulous plumbing company. However, at the end of the project things were not restored as expected such as paying extra for cleaning, the move back in company left many boxes in the garage and were unable to properly assemble one of the beds. What can I say except I have had 2 floods this year. The first one a slab leak in February and handled by another service, including brand new kitchen cabinets and granite counters. Prior to the completion of the first flood, due to materials available for the bathroom restore, we had a 2nd flood from our upstairs neighbors washing machine overflowing with no one home. Into my newly completed beautiful kitchen. The insurance upstairs used Service Masters, and at first, they were ok with the demo. But the restoration has been an unending nightmare. Starting with the crappy drywall job, to the damaging of my brand new cupboards. They are crooked. One cupboard appears to be bent. They dropped off a new hinge and I had to replace it. Still won't close right. I'm still finding drywall, paint and texture on the granite and backsplash walls and refrigerator. The light outlets are crooked and the fabricated box under the cabinets is crap. There are scratches and gouges on my sink and stove (which by the way is not level anymore). The dishwasher is crooked too, maybe because of the crappy cabinet boxes. It's been two months and they are "done". I am not happy. What ever happened to taking pride in your work and doing things right? Now I get to figure out how to fix the mess. There is so much more, but I will just say...make sure you get pictures of every detail of what they are destroying. Because they had no idea what they were doing. This is a franchise. Called owner Mark Ralph to complain about constant delays in handling my claim that had already been paid out to ServiceMaster. Mark informed me he had no knowledge of the day to day business and referred me to Scott Webb, manager of Colton Tavares, the estimator assigned to my insurance water damage case. ServiceMaster was the first to respond when I placed a request through insurance so I had them come out and handle the water mitigation issue. The young man was new to the job and had to call his boss everytime I had a question. OK, we all have to learn sometime. He was eager to please so I had no issue with him. The real problems began when Colton was assigned as estimator. While I understand that many businesses are running with a skeleton crew due to labor shortages, I do not understand not getting back to a customer REPEATEDLY! My repair is a small job. Most contractors can't be bothered with small jobs (NO big $$$'s). ServiceMaster appears to be one of those businesses. The water damage occurred on 12/26/21. Today (3/15/22) I fired Colton and ServiceMaster via text. Coltons response: "Not a problem I completely understand and I do apologize for delays and all that.". I will pay more out of pocket to find my own contractor but at least I won't be giving business to a franchise who doesn't give a d*mn about their customers. Got a call on Monday afternoon from my sister, who had swung by our place to take the dog for a walk. Turns out, a contractor working in the loft above ours clipped a fire suppression sprinkler, flooding that loft, ours, and the two on each side of both. Good times. Here's the silver lining-- Servicemaster Clean, and in particular, a tattooed caffeine freak named Matt, was on the job before I could race home. For the past three days, he's led a crew of the most incredible clean up team imaginable through some of the crappiest work conditions imaginable, and he's done it with a smile. I don't wish this type of disaster on anyone, but should you ever run into a similar patch of bad luck, I hope Servicemaster is the company that responds. read more

Do not hire this company! Worst experience I've ever had with a company. They were recommended by my insurance company but they were terrible! They showed up at my door unannounced countless times, no call, no heads-up nothing; they didn't wear any identifying clothing, no name tags - nothing. When I would answer the door they would just say, "hey whats up." No "hello, im ___ from servicemaster, im here to fix the shower..." Some days I had work and had to tell them to leave- they had no appointment, and didn't tell me they were coming! Rarely, they would tell me they were coming the next day but were almost always several hours late. They were only on time about 3 times out of the dozens of times they showed up. My project was supposed to take 6-8 weeks (they told me it would be done in 3-4 weeks) it took them almost 6 months! The work was shotty - the walls were left unfinished, things around the shower weren't sealed properly, they day after they "finished" things were peeling and coming apart. There are still socket plates missing and trim that doesn't match in the bathroom. They left tools, materials, and trash all around my backyard and never came to pick it up even after I asked multiple times. The worst part of it is that I truly believe the careless actions of their workers caused the death of my beloved cat. When I noticed my cat was in distress I immediately told them to leave and took him to the vet, he died a few hours later. While I have no legal proof, I didn't have an autopsy done (vet said it was likely an issue with his heart), I know it was their actions that caused him to have a heart attack. The same workers showed up at my door the next day as if nothing had happened (again, no call ahead of time to let me know they were coming). I told them the cat had died and they had no sympathy, no apologies, just asked if they could work - I told them to leave. No apologies from the company - nothing. I had the work completed by them which I know was a bad decision but I didn't want to deal with another company I just wanted them to finish it and leave me alone. I paid the bill several months ago, now they are harassing me asking my to pay more but they refuse to send me a bill and refuse to tell me the amount! Do they want me to send them blank check?! I am so angry with this company. It has been almost a year since I began this and even now I am shaking and crying as I write this, I cant tell you how terrible this experience was. They should be shut down. Update: immediately after posting this, they sent me an email saying they would take me to court if i did not pay them immediately. They still refused to send me a bill, it took literally 20 minutes of me yelling on the phone with the supervisor to "just tell me the amount i owe so I can pay you!" for them to even tell me what i owed. I wish the I had recorded the phone call. This is just unacceptable. Read the reviews for yourself, this is clearly not an isolated incident. After my pleading with them to send me a bill they still refused but offered to reduce the price if I removed my review. Recently our neighbor had a water pipe break and majorly flood their dining room floor and walls. We share a wall, so it seeped over to our side. Well my first experience with ServiceMaster (who was recommended by our condo coverage carrier Liberty Mutual, as a courtesy so we wouldn't have to seach for a local company to get us dried out) was with James Moore and his assistant Robert. They pulled back the carpet that night and checked where the moisture was, and all that usual stuff they do. They left humidifiers and carpet dryers. Anyway James Moore and Robert were both really nice, really reassuring, and helped me to realize it wasn't the end of the world. James stayed in touch over the next few days while I was at work and they came and checked on the progress of the drying. Once it was dry, we chose to continue using ServiceMaster Absolute and now dealt with Francesco Fiorini who coordinated the reconstruction. (Replacing the toe-kicks under the kitchen counter, which James had removed to check for moisture during the drying process). Francesco was really good about communicating when they'd be coming by. He was really apologetic about a delay of a day or two in coming by, which we didn't care about (no dinner parties planned, and the place by now was as dry as a bone). His worker (also named Robert, but a different guy than was assisting James Moore) was also really good. He purchased the toe kick wood and stained it and reinstalled it, and also bought the baseboard and painted it. One day when I came home from work Robert was finishing up and Francesco was there supervising and helping him. We're really happy with the job and I signed off on the paperwork. Funny thing, I'm kind of a freaky perfectionist, and AFTER I'd signed off on it, I saw a tiny area where I wish the paint had been cut in a bit better. I left Francesco know, acknowledging that I'd already signed off on it, but asking if there was any paint left. Francesco had Robert buy another quart of paint (it was all gone) which was color-matched and left it for me at my door. (Just took me a few minutes to do my perfectionist cutting in with my own little brush). That was an unusual situation... but I'm full of appreciation that Francesco took steps AFTER I'd signed off to make sure I was a super happy camper! read more

We had our hot water heater die, and Frank was at our door within 24 hours to clean up the flooding, flooring, mold, etc.. I found him to be diligent, pleasant, and professional. At every turn he told us what was going to happen in advance, and there were never any surprises. When something prevented him from coming in person he checked in by phone before having one of his associates come in person, and I generally felt he went above and beyond the call of duty. Drawn out work, heavily inflated bills, multiple invoices for the same work under two different company names billing both the insurance and the customer. This may be industry practice, but it sure isn't ethical, and borders on fraud. I wish I had the time to pursue with small claims or the state agencies. Anyhow, caution is advised. read more

Wow! My Church was flooded on a Saturday and I called Service Master of Lemon Grove and they were there immediately and had us dried out for church on Sunday! Amazing! I also referred Service Master of Lemon Grove to a fellow Realtor who's listing was flooded from an upstairs bathroom and the whole ceiling between floors collapsed! Service Masters came in cleaned it all up and put it back together and then it was SOLD. Thank you SO MUCH! If you need help now just call them. Better yet if you have a business call them and set up a pre-emergency plan so that you're prepared. Why miss out on business when you can move forward without a hitch? They handle everything, Flood, Mold, Blood/Trauma, and Smoke. They even have a "magic potion" that will erase odors...I mean erase-not cover up! I just can't say enough. I didn't search on yelp as I believe my colleague (this was my biggest mistake). Steve scheduled to show up between 12 to 2pm on next business day. On the day, I called and texted Steve to confirm the schedule as I had to take 3 hours off. Around 2pm, he texted me "He is running behind today" without any further message. I finally texted him when he can come. A while later, he texted me "He is tied up in the meeting, Can we reschedule tomorrow?". What? Why did he make an appointment? even he doesn't care customer's schedule at all! Okay... I suggested to meet early morning due to my schedule but no response after it. Instead, I called the best rated (5stars by more than 130 people) restoration company on yelp. They showed up in 10 minutes and went over everything I concerned. Service Master provided no communication with me as the homeowner; they refused to put anything in writing as to what work would be performed, they left flood damaged materials in the condo allowing it to fester, their third party asbestos testing company refused to accept an existing site analysis that cleared the condo of asbestos (that was accepted by every other remediation company working in the condo complex), and continually tried to up sell me on extra work. This is regards to the services you performed at my home located in Temecula. Although your representatives were very pleasant and nice, I will have to say the work performed was all but professional. The first day they came in set up the machines and left, checked in the next day and left, waited a few days and they came back tore out some dry wall a cabinet and stated they would be back. I cannot tell you how frustrating the entire situation has been, lack of communication, inability to contact people, but what I can tell you is that I find it odd that the cabinets that the water leak was next to were not removed nor was the dry wall directly under the leak, in fact the origin of the leak was not inspected and continued to leak after you just left (absolutely no follow up). What this left me with was MOLD.... Yes quite a lot of disgusting MOLD, in fact I could not figure out why I had been sick since I moved into the house but now I know. The issue here is that MOLD is not covered under the insurance and because it was a claim that had already been surveyed by your company I was tasked to deal with the situation myself costing me several hundreds of dollars and unfortunately 3 sinus infections. I have not yet had the house professionally tested, I am hoping that removing all the drywall that was affected and replacing it will take care of the situation. How is it that you can charge almost $7,000 and not have removed the drywall that was directly under the water leak????? I find your services to be unprofessional and lack any kind of integrity what so ever. You charge and absolutely ridiculous amount of money for services. You take advantage of people in emergency situations and then just leave them to figure the rest out. I have used Service Master when I thought I had a leak in my house and that water was behind my walls. They came out used their camera and found the water and how far it had moved in the walls. They were very professional and answered all my questions. I was able to use a contractor to fix the problem but if I had not called Service Master and known how far the water was I may have had to tear my whole wall down. Daniel Conklin from ServiceMaster Absolute is my point of contact for my flood damage. Last Thursday my fiances condo flooded, what a disaster, she is devastated. The flood caused all of the flooring to be ruined. Daniel and crew were onsite within 1 hour of my initial, call. Today is day 4 since the flood and the water damage and potential mold issues are almost stabilized. Daniel moved so fast that he was able to save the drywall and potential drywall cutting, removal, etc. They came in with at least 30 fans, 3 huge dehumidifiers, and all sorts of professional equipment. They cut out the carpet padding, removed affected baseboards, and all associated furniture moving and shuffling to make that happen. They came to the condo every day since last Thursday to monitor the situation, take measurements, and ensure the integrity of the house. They are always on time and always stay in communication as well as make us feel assured it will be fine and resolved. I live in Rancho Bernardo and would highly recommend calling this outfit or franchise if you ever need water mitigation. Darwin was my ServiceMaster contact, and he took care of every aspect of the job. I had a bathroom flood that caused damage in several areas. He stopped by everyday (with the exception of a day I cancelled) until all the flooded areas were dry, asbestos abatement handled, plumbing serviced, damaged walls and floors cleared. First contacted this company back in December for a roof leak. They had a subcontractor come out on January 2. I have left three messages, requesting a call back so that I could get the estimate for the repair. I even contacted the subcontractor who called the company also and was told someone would be calling me last week with the proposal. Still nothing. At this point I am done with trying to get someone from the company to call me back so I can PAY them to fix my roof. Don't bother.
