Due to the narrow hallway and tight corners, I was a little concerned of damage to the walls. Extra care and consideration was taken and there were absolutely no issues! They were in and out fairly quickly for the work that needed to be done. Even though one of the pieces needed to be dismantled in order for it to be moved, they were done quicker than I expected. I would recommend Nico's Hauling if you're in need. They were quick to respond to my questions, communicative on the day of regarding their status and time of arrival, considerate of the property, professional, and fairly priced. I just wanted to mention some highlights of working with LAP Demolition: 1) Luis came out the same day I called him to give me a quote and sent me the estimate right when he said he would. 2) The quote was significantly cheaper than any of the other quotes we had gotten, and the quote was written very clearly so we could see exactly what we were paying for. 3) Luis was very helpful and friendly and pointed out helpful details, such as suggesting we leave the support boards on the house until we could get stucco work to repair the exterior. He was also very flexible about the date of the demo as we wanted to schedule it for two weeks out, rather than doing it immediately. 4) Luis and his crew arrived right on time the day of and completed everything within about 4.5 hours. They brought their own portable toilet and were very efficient and tidy. They even swept up any sawdust left over and hauled everything away. We really appreciate the high-quality work that Luis and his crew did and we now have a blank slate for our future house projects. What immediately stood out to us was that he had ideas and solutions to address our pain points and make enhancements, we wouldn't have ever considered, and didn't just wait for us to tell him how we wanted things. He created a vision for us in that first quote visit. The other contractor we spoke to didn't provide any ideas just asked us how we wanted it. It was a very easy decision to go with Alon and Lumina Builders. Our project was estimated to take 2-3 months and ultimately took two and a half months to complete. We designed a brand new kitchen, addressing all of our concerns and adding a few recommendations from Alon to streamline some areas. They ripped everything out aside from the flooring and walls. We got brand new custom cabinets, custom lighting, and new countertops. Our fridge was moved to a new, more accessible area. Our sink was shifted down to align with the stove for continuity sake (never realized how much I hated it being in a corner previously). We had a new little cabinet built in our little breakfast nook area and we had an appliance garage built to house everything that took up counter space. Everything is so much brighter and more open and, even though we know the demensions are roughly the same, it feels so much wider. We are ecstatic with how everything came out. Alon is a genius. He was responsive to us throughout the project, checking in weekly to see how things were going, giving us peace of mind throughout this process, as first time remodelers. We were indecisive about the primary cabinet color (I was very worried we'd be stuck with something we didn't really like) but he worked with the cabinet makes to give us several samples to choose from. They consulted with me and confirmed the features of the dwelling and the specific colors set for them from Sherwin Williams pallet for this model. Shout out to the lone faux shutter feature in da back of da house. *rolling eyes*. These guys communicated clearly the job and the specifics to be done. They explained to me the way they will paint the eaves and gutters (a little different from the original paint patterns). I'm good with that. That actually matches what all the neighbors did with their new paint jobs. Armando and Andres got right to work starting with the power washing for day one. The humble abode might have sighed a great sigh of relief when they did this. Gone are the tree sap, chimney soot, dust and pollen stains. Next day, cover up and protect. Then next 2 days paint all large surface areas and most of the trim. Day 4 finish all trim and doors. Last day, touch ups. These guys work hard and thoroughly. We are so happy and relieved to have the house painted right with the correct premium paint - Sherwin Williams. Looking over the humble abode now... She looks polished and beautiful. Take that HOA! We had a toilet overflow and got water everywhere. We were out of town and searched online for someone to help us with the cleanup. We called multiple businesses, some didn't call back, some took 3-4 days to respond. Cooper Environmental picked up the phone and was able to look at the issue and schedule repairs immediately. Mariano (the owner) was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful throughout the entire process. They removed flooring, drywall, and trim like true professionals and made a terrible situation easy to handle. Photos were provided and we received regular updates and documentation. They were with us every step of the way. We will never use anyone else! We wish there were more stars to give. He was also very accessible as we were able to call and text him if we had any questions. There was an error on our invoice and he corrected it quickly. The abatement team came quickly and were able to remove drywall from our master bedroom, hallway, popcorn ceiling for 2 rooms, and guest bathroom. We were able to add on removal of old cabinets and a fan to ensure there was no asbestos left. Overall they did it very efficiently and safely which I appreciated. The one con I have to mention was when they removed the ceilings fan they misplaced some of the attachments needed to hook the ceiling fan up. We didn't move anything so when we went to assemble it the piece was missing and we needed to buy extra. A lot of the closets and screws they detached were also not organized so it's been difficult assembling our stuff again. They did the job fast and well but I would recommend they organize items they detached better. We still have a few spots to remove asbestos but would consider them again.

Our HOA contracted with this company to assess and repair some structural water damage, which also…read moreended up involving asbestos abatement. Positive: The workmanship, as far as I can judge, was fine. They knew what they were doing and--eventually--got the job done. They also contracted with someone else to handle the asbestos abatement, and that proceeded without incident as well. Whenever I spoke to the staff or emailed them, they were always courteous and pleasant. No trouble there. However... Negative: Communications with this company were, to say the least, confused and chaotic. I received emails from what must have been over half a dozen people. At one point, it was getting so crazy that I finally complained about it, and one person actually apologized and promised me that everything would henceforth run through her. It didn't. I kept hearing from new people, none of whom seemed to know what their colleagues had been saying. Similarly, the total amount of the estimate kept changing, and it was extremely unclear to me what I owed, or what the scope of the work eventually was going to be. The proposals or estimates were extremely difficult to decipher (although they did include a lot of photos, and that is a good thing). Finally, they were extremely slow. The initial assessment was simple and straightforward enough, but it took months of repeated calls and emails to get them to finally do the work--which took only two days. Once they actually did it, everything was fine, but what should have taken a few weeks at most dragged on for months. This created a great deal of personal hardship for my mother and for me, and became inordinately time-consuming and complicated. If it weren't for the poor organization and communication, this company could easily be in the five-star range.

Our search for an honest company led us to West Coast, and we hoped the reviews were true. The good news is, West Coast is as honest as it gets. Askia came out and looked around the attic while I watched from the ladder. First, he showed me that the supposed mildew was some sort of harmless sandy clay-ish material. And the supposed black mold was just "lumber mold", an industry term for "stain fungi"--the common dark streaks in lumber that originate at the sawmill or in the forest, don't weaken the lumber, and are not indications of moisture. Who knew? Well, Askia knew. And he actually spent time convincing me that we didn't need their services. So do I recommend them to you? You betcha! An honest company is a joy to find.

Jim Thurber was the Project Manager who walked me through the process of putting everything back together again. He actually worked with my Insurance Adjuster, and I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket, except for an unforeseen leak with wall damage after the initial estimate was done. He had his employees there around 8 am every day they were supposed to be there. Alex and Marcus (i am not sure of the names, but hopefully I got it right) did the drywall/patching of the mess of my kitchen. Then the cabinet team finished it off, painted everything exactly matching the original paint, and put all the appliances back where they belonged. The kitchen looked brand new, and everything was cleaned up afterwards. The timeline was as first estimated. If there were any issues, Jim took care of it!
