I suggest showing up before 7:40 am as it will be hard to find a parking spot otherwise. The format is usually housekeeping items for a couple minutes, then Derek Pyne - who is the membership guru and runs the breakfasts - has everyone start doing introductions. The introductions are very quick - 20 seconds or so and the room is covered within the first half hour. The second part of the breakfast is a guest speaker that will speak for about 20 minutes. The speakers range from local and provincial politicians to developers, larger industry reps and small business owners. The meal part of the breakfast is usually boiled eggs, yoghurt, fruit, almonds and pastries etc. Overall, they are a friendly group that will welcome newcomers (and even give them a round of applause).

Weekly networking events that are free, so many opportunities to give back and it's great that there is an organization that supports and advocates for business in Sherwood Park and Alberta. They have spaces that are quite reasonable to rent if you want to hold an event. The only down fall is you have to bring in your own AV equipment. Also their "free" wifi is for Shaw customers only. The Chamber creates a fabulous community like atmosphere. I'm proud to be a member of this organization.

A previous visit to the Registry office closest to my home in Stony Plain was an effort in futility. The line was moderate when I arrived and I had to wait for a bit. There was a sign posted explaining they were short staff due to summer holidays. I'm glad I got there after the lunch rush and not near the end of the month. When I got to the front of the line I realized I was dealing with the Manager. Shanon was very friendly, she understood EXACTLY what I was looking for and was very eager to help. It is indeed a pleasure to deal with a business that understand the needs of their customer. (Possibly even better than I did.) The only thing I would change is the number of people available to help customers. But this is Alberta in the summer which makes this a difficult task. The time Shanon spent with me along with her knowledge and patience pretty much ensures that my future Registry business will be done here.

Courthouse 101 For starters: If you're in 365, 268, or 265 there are volunteers from the Elizabeth Fry Society wearing purple vests that are there to help YOU! Anything that you might need. They are also at the front desk on the provincial side. - Kiosks are there to help you - put your last name in and find your courtroom. If it doesn't show up, go to the information desk on the first floor. They will point you in the right direction. - Legal Aid offices are on the 2nd and 4th floors at the end. You may have better luck on the 4th floor as there are more people working there. - Emergency Protection Orders are on the provincial side in front of courtroom 268 - if you're unable to wait for an EPO at court you can go to any police station and file one. - Native Counseling is located on the provincial side in front of courtroom 356 - Law library is located on the second floor - There is a cafe in the basement (provincial) - Witness check in is typically located in front of courtroom 356 (provincial) - Traffic court is on the first floor in front of the doorways (provincial main lobby) - Queen's Bench is through the glass doors past the TV screens - EFry offers bus passes and snacks for those in need - office is on the 4th floor on the provincial side. Even though it is a daunting process, it doesn't have to me. I wholeheartedly recommend relying on those from the EFry Society if you are confused. Hopefully this helps a few people!

On Canada Place - you are full of so many things that take my money ;-)…read more Useful but inconvenient. Parking is atrociously expensive if you have to drive here. If you can LRT it, that's a good plan but I feel ya in the cold blizzard winter months, parking it is. At least Revel is located next door if you manage to come here in the late afternoon and can hit happy hour next door afterwards. Be prepared to wait for days, well more likely hours but it feels like days when you're needing help at the passport office. Immigration and citizenship are also handled here - spent many, many hours here but thankfully that's done! As well as taxes, yuck. There are pedways connected to many other spots here including the Shaw Convention centre. In the basement is a small food court but it's PRICEY - why? Why can't you just have a subway or something delicious and reasonable like that?

Terrible service from this location…read more Went there Friday March 31, 2017, to ask why a postal delivery worker did not buzz my apt to deliver a parcel, even though I stayed home all morning waiting for the delivery. Got a nasty counter person who told me to call the Canada Post toll-free customer service line. I have called there before on other issues without a lot of luck. They can tell you your postal code or how much a stamp costs but cannot deal with difficult customer service issues. There is also a second issue with the postal delivery person for our apartment building putting my confidential mail in another tenant's mailbox. Fortunately, the property manager of the building caught the error and delivered my mail to me. It was my T-4 with name, address, social insurance number and summary of all my earnings for 2016. In the wrong hands, it would be perfect for identity theft. At the post office, I asked to speak to a manager. The counter agent refused saying there was no manager there. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The agent refused saying there was no one. She did say there were "people in the back" (??) and scribbled down three phone numbers. I asked the agent to please provide the names of whom I was calling. Was I calling a driver or district manager? Who? She refused. She said they were "delivery people." I asked the counter agent for her name and she refused to identify herself. I called and left a message on one of the numbers she gave me. A supervisor named Shelley did call back the same day. She was excellent to deal with. Good listener, respectful. I asked for her full name but she said she was not allowed to give it out. I thanked her as she said she would look into my issue on Monday. I was passed to a man named Simon who said he was a Canada Post Superintendent, apparently working out of the Cranford Way Post Office -- the same post office where I had spoken to the mean front counter agent. He said he could not give me his name either but did give me an ID number. He seemed very forthright. I advised him I would send him a copy of my written complaint to facilitate good communication. I then contacted Canada Post head office in Ottawa. I tried to reach the Senior VP of Customer Relations but he is no longer there and the position has been eliminated. I was able to resolve previous problems with his office on a different matter in the past. I did reach a manager of Customer Service located in Winnipeg MB. She was excellent to speak with. I sent her my written complaint by email March 31 at 5:23 pm MT. I copied CBC Marketplace and will fax same to Simon the Superintendent on April 2. I will file a federal Freedom of Information request to see if I can get Simon's last name as I am sure it is available to the public. I don't like dealing with anonymous public servants. I thought that only gang members and the Mafia preferred to remain anonymous. The manager said she would forward my complaint to Canada Post in Ottawa April 3 because the Ottawa office was closed when I contacted her in Winnipeg. Reply is pending. The majority of people I have met over the years who work for Canada Post are great employees who love their job. I have met mail carriers who enjoyed being outside to deliver mail and liked building a relationship with customers on their walk. I know counter people too who are competent and friendly. It is unfortunate that the counter person I dealt with was so nasty. Hopefully she will get the training she needs -- and a name tag.
