So apparently leaving a negative review gets you banned from booking with them ever again. Well,…read moresince I'm banned anyway, I guess I can just be honest about my experience with them. Last winter, I booked a holiday party for my team of healthcare workers at the hall. They confirmed my booking, so we started planning our holiday party. One week after they confirmed our booking, they emailed me to tell me they double booked the hall and cancelled my reservation. Understandably, I was upset. So I left a review saying I would not recommend them. I simply stated the facts, as noted above. I was totally willing to give them a second chance, so I attempted to book them 6 months in advance for our holiday party this year so there would be no chance for "double booking". To their credit, this time they were very efficient in refusing my request, stating because I left an honest review that I was not allowed to book their hall, even though they had no problem accepting my community league fees. There was a time when customer service was important, and if somebody screwed up, they would try to make it right. Apparently, according to Parkview Community League, their response to them screwing up is to blame the customer and ban them. So if you see a lack of negative reviews on this site, it's not because they provide a good experience, but more that they repress the truth and ban people for telling it.

There's also a parking lot with one handicap stall very close to the hall. It was a nice and sunny day and the had tables set up for serving the BBQ burgers and hot dogs. It's a great outdoor place with seating and picnic tables, and close to a playground. There's the large field and room for bouncy castles. There were garbages but they were definitely getting full from the BBQ plates. Inside the hall was an open gym space and I also saw a kitchen. The bathroom had 3 women's stalls and due to the number of people, there was a line up. It's always great to use the community halls and have great spaces close to home that can accommodate events and parties.

While this is definitely the quickest and best place to go to get a police information check done…read more(especially if you want to pay by credit card), the experience is stressful in general. It is a well organized location but it's hard to relax when you're listening intently for either your name or number to be called (first you see reception, then they use numbers to direct you to a kiosk, then they call names so you can pick up your police information check). The benches are clean but not terribly comfortable. I liked the fact that they have booths at which to fill out forms with the provided pens. When I looked over my paperwork once I received it, I was pretty unhappy that they misspelled my name on one of the police information checks I received. Fortunately I noticed immediately and they were able to fix it, but this meant more waiting. Please expect to be here for around an hour on average. Transit is okay to get here (it could be better) but there is ample parking and it is on some major roads so it is pretty accessible as a location.

They WILL misspell your name here. Double-check before you leave that your certificate has your…read morename spelled right. Two reviews before mine warned of this and it happened to me too. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until I got home which meant more standing in line another day. Long, slow moving lines, little attention to detail, and almost no parking makes this a place no one wants to be. But this is the only Police Information Check facility in the city, so what are you gonna do? Actually you can get the check done at any police station but you can't get the results right away. A police station doesn't accept credit cards either. So if you need it fast and don't carry cash.... How it works is, first you stand in the reception line to tell them why you're there. You'll also show your two pieces of ID. They'll give you a form to fill out that you'll need in phase two of the process. You can actually download the form from the website and print and fill it out at home. It's one less hassle you'll have to go through when you show up. There's not always a spot open at one of the writing desks and not all the pens work. After waiting for a bit (for me it was around 10 minutes) they call you up to a teller window to go over your application. You'll need to show your two pieces of ID again in case somebody has decided to impersonate you since you walked in. This is followed by more waiting as they prepare your certificate. Presumably this is also the part of the process when they decide on the new spelling of your name. You then go up to get your misspelled letter (you'll have to show ID yet again) and be on your way. I didn't have to do fingerprints or a body cavity search so I can't comment on those processes. I'm not 100% sure if they do the latter but there is somebody there wearing rubber gloves taking applicants into a back room. That must be for employers who require a really thorough check. The parking lot blows the long donkey. It's a huge lot but only a few spots are for the Police Information Check centre. There's lots of empty spots but they're for other businesses in the Nexus Business Park. They're all clearly marked as a no-go zone. The staff are all friendly and approachable. That's the best thing I can say about the place and it's why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2. The rubber glove lady is probably the friendliest. I hope.
