While this is definitely the quickest and best place to go to get a police information check done (especially if you want to pay by credit card), the experience is stressful in general. It is a well organized location but it's hard to relax when you're listening intently for either your name or number to be called (first you see reception, then they use numbers to direct you to a kiosk, then they call names so you can pick up your police information check). The benches are clean but not terribly comfortable. I liked the fact that they have booths at which to fill out forms with the provided pens. When I looked over my paperwork once I received it, I was pretty unhappy that they misspelled my name on one of the police information checks I received. Fortunately I noticed immediately and they were able to fix it, but this meant more waiting. Please expect to be here for around an hour on average. Transit is okay to get here (it could be better) but there is ample parking and it is on some major roads so it is pretty accessible as a location. read more

They WILL misspell your name here. Double-check before you leave that your certificate has your name spelled right. Two reviews before mine warned of this and it happened to me too. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until I got home which meant more standing in line another day. Long, slow moving lines, little attention to detail, and almost no parking makes this a place no one wants to be. But this is the only Police Information Check facility in the city, so what are you gonna do? Actually you can get the check done at any police station but you can't get the results right away. A police station doesn't accept credit cards either. So if you need it fast and don't carry cash.... How it works is, first you stand in the reception line to tell them why you're there. You'll also show your two pieces of ID. They'll give you a form to fill out that you'll need in phase two of the process. You can actually download the form from the website and print and fill it out at home. It's one less hassle you'll have to go through when you show up. There's not always a spot open at one of the writing desks and not all the pens work. After waiting for a bit (for me it was around 10 minutes) they call you up to a teller window to go over your application. You'll need to show your two pieces of ID again in case somebody has decided to impersonate you since you walked in. This is followed by more waiting as they prepare your certificate. Presumably this is also the part of the process when they decide on the new spelling of your name. You then go up to get your misspelled letter (you'll have to show ID yet again) and be on your way. I didn't have to do fingerprints or a body cavity search so I can't comment on those processes. I'm not 100% sure if they do the latter but there is somebody there wearing rubber gloves taking applicants into a back room. That must be for employers who require a really thorough check. The parking lot blows the long donkey. It's a huge lot but only a few spots are for the Police Information Check centre. There's lots of empty spots but they're for other businesses in the Nexus Business Park. They're all clearly marked as a no-go zone. The staff are all friendly and approachable. That's the best thing I can say about the place and it's why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2. The rubber glove lady is probably the friendliest. I hope. read more

It's a necessary evil. You get a new job...your boss asks for a criminal records check. I was directed to the Nexus Business Park as it is now the main office in the city for fingerprinting and crime checks. Mondays are typically their busiest days, so I would caution you against coming in this day. You won't even find a parking spot. I entered a long queue to get a ticket number. The desk staff was friendly. I showed my 2 pieces of ID and explained that I was there for a "crim-check". She gave me a number and told me it would be a 1 hour wait. After 90 minutes, I went back up to the desk and asked if it was possible that I missed my call. She told me I had the wrong ticket number. Mine was for the fingerprint line. I told her that it was SHE who gave this number to me. Shrug. She gave me another number and asked me to wait again ..... probably only 15 minutes it so. Sigh. I finally got to the window and my application was processed quickly. She asked me to double-check the name spelling, etc... My name was misspelled, so she had to do it again. $48.00 is what you can expect to pay. Some employers will reimburse you, so keep your receipt. In and out took 2.5 hours. You can sit and watch CBC news without sound. I wish I'd brought my book. I don't want to do this again. Alternatively, you can fill out an application at any cop detachment and they will send it away for you. They will either mail it to you for a fee, or you can pick it up. Child welfare checks are also available. You need this to work with kids. Good luck getting that job. read more

I remember it clearly as I only went to this place and oomomo and I know I had my passport in this office before I left this place as i just had presented it to the authorities for the police information check. Don't carry your passport as your ID at this place as there are few persons who pick pocket your passports while you are doing fingerprint scan at this place. If you don't want to pay for a money order to get your police information check or need it right away this is really your only option. They take all forms of payment here. The place was very easy to find being in the big Nexus Business building on 142 St and 118ave. The parking was terrible. Every single spot around the building is claimed by signs marking who it's designated for. The police check office only had 2 rows of parking for customers. So of course they were all full. You can park way out far from the front doors and walk which is about a block distance. I drove around for about 10 mins waiting for someone to leave so I could park. Upon entering there was a line for reception which wasn't moving too fast at first but it wasn't long before another lady came up to help which moved the line fast. I came with all my required documents and the form already filled out. You can find it and print it off the website and find everything you will need ID wise so it goes a lot faster and you won't be caught needing something you don't have. After you get checked over by the receptionist you get a number and wait. To get your info check that day it was a 45-60 min wait. I was not interested in sitting there all day so I opted for the pay and go which allowed me to pay there and have them mail me the info check within 7-10 days. That way I only waited about 20 mins. The workers were all very nice and polite which kudos to them because with the long waits and people not having proper Id some folks were irritable. This is a very busy place so prepare for long waits and make sure to look up everything you will need on the eps website and if you can print and fill out all documents to save time. parking is the real pain. With most of it designated to staff be prepared to walk a distance or drive around waiting for a free spot. read more
