a half eaten pastry on a plate

I really wanted to give more stars, but I regret that I cannot. I have lived in three European countries and one South American country and I am from New York so please take my review with a grain of salt. I have high expectations. My pecan, cinnamon pastry had great flavor, but it was stale!!! Day old pastries (or day I say even longer than a day) should be offered at a discount and not as the main offerings. The MAIN thing an independent bakery can offer is quality. This means very fresh products. I know this is not always economically feasible so just market them as "day old" and let the buyer make that choice. I would have been embarrassed if I served this to a guest because IYKYK that it was not fresh. Also, the workers were busy conversing amongst themselves so they were not attentive nor helpful.

I've only ate dessert at this location as they just opened. The prices are fair and everything looks delicious. They also serve lunch and breakfast along with breads/pretzels, fruit trays, salads, etc. I've had their pretzels and beer cheese at the Fairfield location and its quiet good. One nice thing about this location? It has a drive-thru if you're in a rush or picking up an order.

Ok... sorry for the picture but hopefully it communicates more than 1000 words. My daughter and I ordered a pecan rectangle pastry and had at it before our yelping endeavors started. Let the pictures speak for itself and let the reader enjoy the bliss of baked goods.

    Stale and hard cookies.

Bought a $7 soft pretzel at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati. Worst pretzel I've ever had. Dry, crumbly. Truly awful. Threw away 3/4 of it.

Very overpriced mediocre baked goods. Paid 13$ for a medium size bag of pretzel bread that was stale.

While the space itself isn't large, they had an impressive selection of cookies, cakes, and cheesecakes for a Wednesday afternoon--plenty to tempt you the moment you walk in. I went straight for the bourbon caramel swirl cheesecake, and that's when things got even better. The girl behind the counter casually mentioned they use Weller's bourbon . Even better? She proudly said she gets to eat whichever flavor she wants. I joked that sounded like a great perk--she laughed and revealed she's actually the daughter of the owners. Loved that little personal touch. My wife is more of a traditionalist and chose the original cheesecake with caramel swirl. She said it was incredibly creamy and very good. Mine was just as creamy, with a noticeable punch of bourbon flavor balanced perfectly by the caramel, and finished with a crispy, satisfying crust. Bottom line: definitely good, definitely delicious. This is the kind of place that makes you plan your next visit before you've even finished your slice. I would absolutely return for another piece (or two) Unfortunately, I ate my cheesecake but I snap a photo. I couldn't wait! lol!

The texture was also perfect. Some cheesecakes are way too dense, but this one was creamy with perfect mouthfeel. I've been eating and baking cheesecakes for friends and family for years. Not anymore. This is the best! On a business note-great interaction on social media.
