Went to get burgers today on our way back from Petaluma. Nice & sunny outside, & the place was packed as usual. Anyway, I got the redwood burger with everything on it, & a small strawberry shake & small fry. Well, first the small fries could easily feed 3 ppl. What a deal! The shake was delicious, and the hamburger was lip smacking good! They put thousand island dressing on it, Yum! My hubby got the Double Sequoia burger with everything on it. No thousand island dressing. This one has mustard, Mayo, & ketchup. Also, onions, pickles, tomato's, & lettuce. He got a vanilla shake & loved it. And he will be eating all my left over fries. I've driven by this place every time I've visited Sebastopol and have thought "man, I REALLY need to go in here." It's a divey joint that looks like it serves up some greasy but tasty burgers, a variety of fried sides, and some delicious milkshakes. Upon arrival, I can confirm that it is indeed that kind of spot. I ordered the Cajun burger, a regular side of Cajun fries, and a large drink for my visit. Total came to about $16, but I feel like that's expected from a mom and pop type of burger joint. There were lots of people already there, so I was excited that my impression of the storefront was correct and that I'd be dining in Flavortown soon. As you can see from the picture, the regular side of fries is insane. I imagine you could split a regular four ways with ease. The large size isn't much more expensive, either. Maybe a $1 more. I can't even imagine what that looks like. The burger was just okay. I think alongside a tower of fries like that, a single patty burger with no special fixings can be a little plain by comparison. It was tasty - don't get me wrong - but I'd definitely get a larger burger or something a little more adventurous on my next visit in lieu of fries. That is, unless I know someone will share the fries with me. Only real downside is the food does take a bit of time (us usually a good sign that it's made to order), and the seating is outside. While most of it is covered, you are still relatively exposed to the elements. I had to go back to my car to grab an additional jacket while I waited. Sorry, but their burgers are cardboard. Yeah they give you a huge bag of greasy fries but that doesn't make up for a cardboard burger. I didn't order how the meat would be cooked (I prefer MR) and wasn't asked --- which I expect and fine with for drive-up burgers. Oh boy where do I begin. Went to get burgers for my grandbabies and I think this is the worst experience I have ever had at the place. I have been coming here since the 80"s. I ordered 3 Kids hamburger meals and when I got home the burgers were dried out and the buns were stale. I ordered them with pickles on and of course there were none. I am not sure why this place has gone down hill. Let's get to the part where I don't know if I will ever come back..... There was a man in the back not sure if he was the owner/managers but he was back there yelling at the kids working. Very un-professional. I could hear ever word he was saying. You walk in and you smell the smell of fresh fries and burgers from the back. The shop itself is in a good spot with a store next to it, for anything you need. They are fast especially if you order over the phone first. The shop is nice with one location, so it's local to Sebastopol. They have a nice place with tables and chairs. read more

I ordered the Redwood Burger. It was decent flavor and normal burger size...not as huge as Superburger or Mike's at the Crossroads which was fine by me. The bun was soft and held the contents without things slipping out. The French Fries had a ginormous portion. The fries were not very good because they were undercooked. A longtime Sebastopol staple. I was in town and craving the nostalgia. The "hole in the wall" right off the highway hasn't change a bit in decades and has that small town feel. I used to come here all the time for a good "hangover cure", because everything had the right amount of grease to cure it. But since I don't live near there anymore, I hadn't been there in probably 4 years. I am pleasantly surprised that the Burgers were still really good!! The onion rings and milk shakes were great too! Haven't been here in years. Now I remember why. I ordered the burger with 1,000 island dressing and an order of onion rings. The burger was a joke no taste, the onion rings were just frozen rings. They defrosted them from the heat of the deep frier. They empty them in to the basket above frier and the heat defrosts them. They were worse then jack in the box's rings. We ate here with a large group (9 people), so we were able to try a lot of menu options. The cashier was helpful, suggesting how to group things to get the best price. Service was prompt. The dining area was a little chilly because it's open to outdoors on two sides, and we were there on December 27. However, the hamburgers were delicious.
