This family-operated business offer many different unique and nice exterior building materials for your home. I have been looking for some unique landscape rocks for some time and they all tend to look the same to me from the usual boxed stores. My gardener had suggested that I check out Sepulveda Building Materials. The staff was friendly and quite helpful. They have a huge selection of landscape rocks to choose at a somewhat reasonable price. However, they did have exactly what I wanted which made it worth every penny. I got the 3/8" light mixed golden colored rocks called Palm Springs that I can use as ground cover. I bought several 50 lbs bags of this landscaping rocks that they even help load into my car. My garden has since never looked better with this additional ground cover. read more

Don't bother calling around for pricing on materials. They have the best prices specially when purchasing in bulk. Staff is friendly and always helpful with helping load up materials. They do offer delivery as well. We've ordered a bunch of materials from them and will continue to do so. We had a customer order of 170 stepping stones 24x24 we weren't ready to take delivery yet because of delays on our end. They were nice enough to hold it at their site for a few more weeks. read more

They just lost a customer over $50. Ridiculous! I've purchased firewood from this company for at least 5 years. Every year I get an email reminder from them to place firewood orders, which I do (apparently it's an "early bird special"). I emailed a few times and didn't hear back but unfortunately I've been out of town, just got back and decided to give them a call to see what's going on and place an order. They tell me the person stopped working there (I got an email from the person 2.5 weeks ago) and had emailed them in October and November, it's December, so maybe they don't work there anymore because they don't respond to customers?). I forward them one of my emails, they acknowledge it and tell me they'll only give $50 off instead of the usual $100. Well, sometimes it's more about the principal. Royale Firewood is less expensive, they deliver, and they stack for free. I gave Sepulveda Building Materials my business as a repeat customer buying 1 cord of firewood a year, and now they can feel great knowing they saved $50 and lost $800+ a year from me. read more

Huge selection, nice displays of the materials, good helpers to load material, and generally a nice of group of people to work with. I came today to rent a u-haul cart with concrete, the gentleman told me they were out of gas for the cart and that their cut off time was 11:30. I showed him the time which to be fair was not 11:30 yet and I asked if he needed me to bring him gas. I came from far away to pick up the unit, job site is close to Sepulveda building materials but the point is that they are not ready. Very unprofessional to waste someone's time. Sepulveda has the best firewood of the places I've purchased from over the past 15 years or so. But the price has steadily gone up. I just ordered, and in addition to the firewood, I was charged a $35 delivery fee and $40 fuel surcharge. That's ridiculous. If you can go pick up your own firewood, save yourself some money. Having said that, the delivery guys are really good about placing it just so inside my gate, and I'm grateful for that. I would give them a higher rating were it not for the surcharges. They're getting just like the airlines with the fees. read more

I'd already engaged a landscaping company to remodel the back yard. When they did their "'walk through" they told me they'd be starting the following Monday - Labor Day - four days away! Because I thought their price was too high for the enormous number of 1-2" rocks I needed for the job, I had said I would find the rocks myself. I immediately got to work online and on my phone and soon learned that while there were a lot of companies that delivered rocks, some places did not have the rocks I wanted, some places could not get them delivered for several weeks, and one company suggested I call back next week because they thought they would be getting in the rocks I wanted, but weren't certain. Not helpful at all. I had reconciled myself to just asking the landscape company to begin on Monday, and when I got the rocks in several weeks or a month they could come back and finish the job, when I came across Sepulveda Building Materials. They were truck-delivery close to my home (40-50 miles) and on their website I saw a couple of different rocks that I liked. When I called, I was thrilled to learn that they not only had the rocks I wanted, but they were in larger bags than every other company I'd called, less expensive, and they could deliver on the Thursday after the job started, which was perfect. They did charge for delivery, which most companies did not do, but even with that I ended up paying about $700 less than the landscape company said it would cost them if they used their go-to company, and even less than Home Depot whose website showed their first available delivery was in four weeks. I did all of this on the phone in 15 minutes. They promised the delivery in a three-hour window and arrived on time. The driver backed up into my driveway and put the rocks exactly where I asked him to. It took 5 minutes. By the way, the rocks are all laid out and I have yet to see even one broken rock; they are beautiful. read more

Complained to store manager, and he said "You didn't purchase those stones here," essentially calling me a liar. I'm not a contractor -- just a DIYer -- and it seems like most construction material businesses just treat people like me as a "tire kicker" and not a serious buyer. From the time I asked for a quote to the point where my order (5 cubic yards of paver base) was delivered, everyone was prompt, courteous and efficient. They have a stone yard with a nice selection from pebble sized to huge slabs, from reddish color to smooth black like the ones spas use to heat & massage you with. Prices for decorative rocks are about 33¢/lb. It's 22¢/lb at Thompson Bldg. Materials in Wilmington. This is still cheaper than at craft stores where a one-pound bag is about $3. HUGE difference. I didn't buy any rocks, but in the office which also sells other construction-related items, I ended up buying a straw lifeguard hat for about $8+tax. This was a good one with a wide brim and tight weave to protect from the sun. read more

I had the most amazing service experience with Sepulveda. I am a homeowner that does not regularly do business at this establishment, and there was no reason to prioritize my business in any way. In my experience, the best service is reserved for large customers that impact the bottom line. This isn't the case at Sepulveda. Erica helped me with my product needs and went above and beyond expectations. She called and followed up with me regularly. She listened and was patient with me, especially given the relatively small need that I had. She texted me pictures of different materials and products to make it easier for me to make a decision about product to use. We order around $1,000 of various size stones and the guy doing the order figured out what we needed, and we placed the order. Delivery was quick as we received 3 pallets, one with many bags of stones and the other two with yellow loaded bags with loose stones. We were told to call them when we finished, and they'd send someone to pick up the pallets and yellow stone bags. I called this morning and was informed they don't pick up anything. We have to return the pallets and bags ourselves to the Laguna Niguel location to get the $10.00 per pallet refund and nothing for the bags (the bags must have some type of monetary value to them). I have a small sedan and none of the items will fit in my car. So, I have rent a truck and return them to get $30.00 which is the price of the rental or store them at my house. My advice is look somewhere else as in my opinion, they are not straight shooters with the people that keep them in business buying their products. read more

I purchased a couple of boulders, flagstone pebbles for my garden. Entering the place there are beautiful stone fountain installations. Come to find out they were designed by, Mario, who is one of the staff. Mario helped me select the flagstone and pebble for my walkway and was extremely helpful in the process. I'm a newbie to buying building materials and would've been very lost and indecisive without his help. He is available for free-lance installations too! My material was delivered the next day by Alex. He was also extremely helpful with positioning my 835 pound stone exactly the way I wanted it. He also provided with great tips on using solar lighting to feature the stones at night. Definitely buy as much as you can on one trip because delivery costs are calculated by distance not weight. You will pay just as much for 1000 pounds as you would for 4000 pounds to get your materials delivered. Great experience overall. Will definitely return! read more

This is the second time I have bought from SBM in the last few years. They have beautiful rock choices both in size and color. You won't be disappointed. I didn't do much shopping around for prices because they had what I was looking for and the delivery turn around is quick. The first time I ordered I had my yard hardscaped(by my brother-in-law) for my dogs and used the weed barrier they carry(bad choice for dogs). Well, three years later saving over forty dogs and a lot of research I am having my yard redone again to make it more big dog friendly with proper materials. The second time around I ordered the same Apache rock but needed sand to go over the barrier under the Apache. I asked for sand options that would be best for drainage(Chris text me photos). I ended up getting a pea pebble not sand. I called Chris he said we will fix it no problem send your guy down to come to choose what you want. They just delivered the proper sand and swapped me out no extra delivery or pick up charges! Everyone is really helpful. My suggestion if you are a do it yourself kinda person or ordering materials to save money to have a landscaper do the work. Go down and pick out your materials and triple check your SQ feet. I ended up a little short the first time. These guys are great and I will continue to use them in the future. read more
