I think my experience at Sephora is always very dependent on the associate who helps me. Last week, Stephanie helped me out, and mad shout out to her! I had a whole list of products I needed to test out for color for the upcoming VIB sale and personal haul. Stephanie never acted annoyed, but was friendly, attentive and terrific through the whole process. We had some issues coming up with a color match for foundation. The products that I wanted to try out were not in the store, and the color iq/match on the Sephora system was throwing out some really weird colors for my skin. In the end, we had to try a different brand foundation to try and see if that would be color matched to another product, but the app just didn't want to work. I may just have to purchase the foundation in different colors and return what doesn't work. Meanwhile, lighting inside the Sephora seems to be very nice and bright, but somehow throws everything off. Stephanie knew the best spot in the store where we could check, and we did find a shade that worked. Unfortunately, after coming home and looking in natural light, the color was off slightly. After trying some of the other items on my list, when an item wasn't to my liking or it didn't have a color that I liked, Stephanie was very good at suggesting other brands (other than Benefit, which I've been steered to many, many times in the past), ones that I actually liked upon trying. But she wasn't pushy and the suggestions only came once she saw I was disappointed with the ones I was working with already. So even though Sephora didn't have the items I really wanted on stock (what happens when you research on YouTube and want all the items on beauty influencers' go get list), I was happy to have gotten to try most of the colors and figuring out what does and doesn't work for me. Then I went to look at some skincare products. Now, makeup I usually need help with. Skincare, I don't. I have very finicky skin, which likes to do its own thing. I also use prescription creams that don't work with a lot of exfoliating products out there. I've also tried SO MANY skin care products because of all the problems I have. So I'm good left alone in the skincare section, looking at the ingredients and doing the "feel" test on my own. So when associates approach me and ask if they can help, I thank them and tell them I'm really ok. Personal pet peeves: 1. when an associate steers me away from a brand I'm looking at and directs me to another brand. 2. when I try the other brand and don't like, but the associate tells me it's great anyway 3. when the associate knows less about makeup than me (believe me, I don't know much, and what I learned is from YouTube) but acts like they know what's best for my skin There was this one associate who wanted to be really pushy though, and pretty much made me come with her to check out a Drunk Elephant product while I was looking at some of the newer products on the Dermalogica line. Wanting to be polite, and hope I was wrong and would get a great recommendation, I did give the product she wanted me to try a try. But when I told her that the mask felt more like moisturizer, she looked dubiously at me and said, "well, you can lather more on. I only gave you a little bit to try". Um. No. Anyway, not sure why she wanted to push that product on me so much. But after I told her I prefer the texture of Summer Friday's JetLag, she looked blank and had no idea what product I was talking about. That told me she didn't really know much about the products she was selling. I thanked her and went on to my own research. But the experience doesn't sit right with me somehow.

    I prefer sephivea

Owned by Seph Green and Seph Rogen. Sephora is awesome. It is full of all of the best makeup, like Urban Decay, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Kat Von D. The makeup is expensive, but the price is set by the makeup company, not Sephora. The employees here are fairly nice. Being able to swatch the makeup is great. Speaking of Swatch, remember when they were the coolest watches? No, just me? OK, justme. Anyway - Sephora. It's at the massive Mayfair Mall in the west burbs of Milly Wore Kay. If you know what I mean Alice Cooper.

Hugh variety of everything upscale. Recommendations have always been right on (except for an eye primer that was for lid not under eye).

I haven't been inside, but they like nice spots to take a break. Generally, no one bothers you as you browse unless you ask for help. I've found it a bit hard to get help on the makeup counters, with some counters being unmanned. I do feel like the staff odd a bit snobbish. Not so much when I am well dressed and carrying a Chanel bag, but when I was running in to grab something quick and dressed in sweats. Just a general feeling rather than at specific counters. So I do feel somewhat self conscious shopping here. There's an unseen dress code of sorts. Overall, clean, lots of space and easy experience.

I wish I remember the lady's name who helped me. She was amazing. She brought me sizes in a couple items that I misjudged my size. She also gave me honest feedback when I asked her how a dress looked on me. I love how great the employees are at Nordstrom in Florida and then here in Wisconsin. The sale ended today. This store is the best. It was very well organized and had beautiful displays. I bought a few items. I would have bought more, but I wasn't thrilled with how some things looked on me. That is on me. They provided a beautiful breakfast box. I don't even like breakfast but found some very unique snacks and fancy cookies made up just for this occasion. No other store compares to Nordstrom service and selection in my eyes. I love you Nordstrom. Always.

The receptionist is so nice and helpful when making appointments. I went to Abby for waxing and she is skilled and knows what she is doing so I know I can rely on her. She was booked when I needed to go once so I made an appointment with someone else. She turned out to be very new and still learning. It was a painful experience but she called in Abby to help and the whole experience turned around. I personally didn't mind it but you may want to ask how skilled your person is before booking. I get lash lifts and tints, and she knows how to make my natural lash curl beautifully without it looking like too much. I have naturally long lashes but they don't curl at all, and when I wear mascara they hit my glasses and get them dirty! But with a lift I get a natural curl and don't have to worry about it. The tint makes it so I barely touch mascara now! If you're debating a lash service go see her - it's worth it!
