Sephora= my mecca. :P This store's speciality is in skin-care, which I actually learned while visiting the Sephora in Thousand Oaks and being disappointed in their selection. Anywho- the SB Sephora is large, has lots of great selections, and conveniently located next to Nordie's. Woohoo! On a whim I stopped by here after M.A.C. disappointed me with a communication issue. I opted to have a full face makeover, as I wanted to replace my makeup collection. I had a great experience and left with products that I can have fun with. I've been to other Sephora stores and this one seemed to be of a good size with a variety of choices. I walked into Sephora a few days ago in a huge panic as my makeup artist had canceled last minute before my engagement photos. I asked if someone there could do a quick makeup session and I was partnered up with Maricela. I told her what look I wanted, showed a few pictures, and she got to work. The final result was exactly what I wanted, and she worked quickly to stay in my time frame. She was really sweet, listened to everything I wanted and did such a great job. The customer service here is an absolute JOKE. We waited around asking different employees for help for ten minutes straight before we finally just left. Great service, will put the makeup on for you to try out, they finish your look, write down the information for you, and then give you a small sample if you like to try out at home! Stephanie was extremely knowledgable and helpful. Her makeup was great and my was also leaving the store. There is a lot to testout. This place makes me a bit sad because many items in the display I was looking at were damaged or missing. I prefer to get my makeup and beauty products from higher end stores which keep a better watch on how their line is presented. There are a few things they have at Sephora which they don't have at the department stores in the area, so you have some excuse to come in here. But if I were a rep from Marc by Marc Jacobs, I'd be utterly horrified at the serious mismanagement of the display. I decided to order directly from them and had a bad experience with that, so I guess I am basically done with that line. I sometimes order from Sephora online because I don't like it that people have damaged the stuff on the displays. They need more employees who actually care about the displays. Me and my friend go in there all the time and everyone's always nice, we aways go in there to put on makeup as a joke with our friends sometimes. A few months ago we went in and we were looking at foundations because we had gotten lighter or darker (I can't remember which one) since the summer and we couldn't find a basket so we just put it in an empty bag we had, then I found a basket by the entrance so we started to put stuff in there when an employee came up to us and accused of lifting. Of course I kinda get why they would think we were but its not like we were being subtle about it which is why we "got caught" and months later after I've been researching I found out that it's not actually theft until you leave the store. She told us to put the stuff in the basket even thought that's what we were doing and we had just paused to ask her something inventory related. And then she told us that they had our pictures and that we had to leave the store. We've been too scared to go in there ever since. Although our intentions were different than what they had thought, whether we were shoplifting our not, they had no right to kick us out before we had left the store because according to every website, as I've said, it's not theft until we've left the store and therefore they had no right to/ couldn't do anything about it until we had. I know we are completely allowed to go back in but we've literally been too scared to. read more

This Sephora is the nearest to my home and therefore I use to go there very often. However, I have to tell you that the customer service is the worst service I have ever had in my life in a beauty store. It happens overtime I go there I am first asked if i need any help, which is nonsense because I sometimes I want to first look at products and then decide. Whenever I am ready the workers there try to avoid any eye contact and they usually answer questions quickly and move on. I am very disappointed being treated as a burden when I am there to spend money. I am not happy at all. i usually never write reviews but I had to review this Sephora. After buying plenty of products, I feel as if I made a mistake buying those things. Once I actually had to leave the lipsticks I had in my hands because nobody was willing to help me, even after asking and waiting for 20 minutes. So disappointed. read more

I love Sephora.. So much. However this particular location lacks quality customer service. Asking someone for a sample of a product is like asking them for a huge favor. They make it seem like the largest inconvenience. It's upsetting because Sephora prides themselves on being helpful and letting you try any product before you purchase it. This is a review for Amber who was such an integral part of me becoming a beautiful bride on my wedding day. I'm no expert when it comes to makeup application and all my friends thought I was crazy, but I just booked an appointment on the Sephora website, and with a $50 purchase you get a free full face makeover. I suppose the biggest worry is leaving the place looking like a hot mess but I really lucked out. Amber did my makeup just like the picture I found on Pinterest (actually she made some excellent adjustments to work with my eye shape), and even applied fake lashes with extra glue on the corners when I expressed concern about how long it would last. The makeup and lashes lasted all day until I took it off (9+ hours) and it didn't look cakey or tired. Perfection! I highly recommend Amber not just for magnificent makeup application skills and exceptional client service, but because she really loves what she does and it really shows. After finally finding the courage to yield to several irrevocable losses I found myself itching for a new style. One that reflected my survivability. A style that had flair and integrity. To be honest I wasn't expecting much when I booked an appointment for a makeover at Sephora. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The makeup artist was sensational. She found products for me that contained no alcohol. I know this is a challenge because I've been searching for products without alcohol most of my adult life. Additionally my makeup artist showed me how to use make-up in a way that enhanced my best features. Together we chose make up that are softening and conservative on one hand while throwing in some fun and more interesting Colors on the other hand. I absolutely love my new look. It's contributed to a more usefully whole look-out on my life. It's a wonder how small acts of kindness and empathy can calm the deepest grief. Bravo Sephora! You have a customer for life! read more

I usually never go to this Sephora because of all the negative reviews I've read, but yesterday I found myself in Santa Barbara with a sudden urge to buy some Kat Von D products and so I mentally prepared myself for the bad service as I headed over. I was actually quite surprised (pleasantly) to have had an overall excellent experience here! Varying staff passed by and made sure I had everything or if I needed help, I was there on a mission so I always declined, but the staff were very kind and despite it being busy they seemed to make sure everyone was being tended to or at least asked if they needed help. This location was very clean and nicely organized, the displays were very easy to navigate and I found what I was looking for in no time! Glad I decided to check it out here. read more

Almost every time I'm in there they are out of stock of a few things. But the customer service is absolutely unbeatable. I have never experienced another Sephora, or any other makeup store, have such kind employees. Every single time I'm in there, the guy or girl who is helping me goes above and beyond for me. If they're out of stock, they research it for me to see if someone else has it or if they can order it. And I'm always asked if I need help finding when I walk in. And the cashiers are so helpful and take the time to just be nice and answer any final questions. I'm always so impressed by THIS Sephora. read more

I am a huge Sephora fan but this location sucks. I now order all my products online or go next door to Nordstrom where people are more polite. I've only spoken to a few friendly employees there in the course of 3 1/2 years. Every time I go there (which used to be often) I would drop at LEAST $75.00 every trip....at least. I still got treated like crap when some of those girls know I'm a regular and always spend a decent amount of money. I actually called their corporate line to complain and was told that I would receive a call from their district manager and that NEVER HAPPENED. I will not shop there again, good paying customers should under no circumstances get treated like crap. read more

First visit to this location. I love San Francisco's store!! My mother and I went for her to get a few products. I approached a nice woman (who I later learned was the manager--Christina (?) she listened and quickly got a staff member for us. Veronica was exceptional. She did a full face make over on my 70+ mother, she was patient, professional and smiled a lot. She chose wonderful products and answered both of our questions professionally. I then had a foundation only consultation. Again, Veronica did a great job. She encouraged me to use a base moisturizer and then a BB cream foundation. Just love it. My mother is so excited to get started with her new products. We will return to Carmel today, however, I know I will visit this location when visiting in the future. I had Jen do my makeup for a formal of mine and could not be any happier with the results! She was polite, helpful, energetic, and did a wonderful job with my makeup. After showing her a few pictures of what I wanted, she did an exceptional job of suiting my needs and the final product turned out exactly as I desired. I had the worst experience here, so much so that I will now be going to Ulta all the way in goleta because this experience was so bad. I had purchased an order online of over $300 and decided that I didn't want some of the items that I ordered. So I took them into Sephora and and tried to return them. I didn't bring my receipt because I had placed the order online and with confidence that they would be able to find it through my email, which they were. However, one of the items that I purchased did not show up on my digital receipt. I was a little afraid that they weren't going to be able to give me my money back because of this... In finding out that they weren't able to find the product they were extremely rude and their attitude suggested that I most likely trying to return something that I had purchased somewhere else. This was not the case. At one point several employees huddled around the computer and started talking, they told me that they would be able to give me store credit only since it wasn't popping up and then I proceeded to explain that I had purchased it through their website and that I wasn't getting any service in their store so I wasn't able to show them proof on my phone. They did not seem to care, they started talking over me and amongst themselves to the point that I had to be like "excuse me, Can you guys hear me?"That seem to grab their attention but they were still extremely rude to me. I decided that I was going to send it back through the mail when I got home along with the receipt that showed that I had bought this here. However, after I got home and printed out the receipt I was pretty upset and didn't like the way he was treated so I marched down to Sephora and explained that I had been treated kind of unfairly and even suggested that they had believed that perhaps I had stolen the item but the girl just give me a blank stare and went about her business. There were no apologies or explanations and she continued to be rude. I will never set foot in the Sephora ever again and instead will go to Ulta which by the way offers you money off of your purchases every time ypu buy something with them which is way better than these measly samples they give you after spending $1000. read more

I've been shopping regularly at Sephora since they came to Paseo Nuevo mall, love their selection of products and great customer service. When Ulta opened in Goleta a couple of years ago, I started shopping there more often than Sephora, because I like their rewards program more....However, I went into Sephora today on a whim and was so completely pleased with my experience there, I had to come tell Yelp (+I'll be returning more regularly to Sephora now) I went straight to the Philosophy section and was greeted by Manuel, who first greeted me very joyfully - He then asked if I had an extra few minutes and if so he would like to give me a mini facial so I could try out some of the Philosophy products. YAY!! I of course obliged and am so happy I did. Manuel made me feel super pampered, and gave me tons of info on the products he used. I purchased one of the products he used which id already been planning on purchasing + another which I'd never have even considered. Manuel was such a breath of fresh air, and I can't wait to visit Sephora again, hope he's working! read more

I went into Sephora to get a make up trial for my wedding. Unfortunately I am cramped on time because I need to leave next week. The girl at the register told me should would be with me once she finished looking at a receipt. I patiently waited ten minutes. After she looked at the appointment schedule for me, which was empty. She went to talk to the manager, Michael, to see if I could get in then, or, as I told her I was happy to do, Friday- Sunday. Ten minutes later she came back, and told me that his highness Michael would not allow her to make any appointments for the rest of the week because of some special program for Rewards members. I told her I was looking to spend a lot and was really in a jam and she said her hands were tied. She told me I could go back and talk to Michael myself, but since I had already waited 20 minutes for nothing and it's not MY job to chase him around, I went to Nordstrom's and spent the money at the MAC counter. If either the cashier or Michael had asked, I am (no longer) a Rewards member, but I was too disgusted to tell her. What a waste of commission and income for the store. read more
