I had a wonderful experience here this past Saturday afternoon. One employee was quick to help when I couldn't find a makeup brush and the employee behind the counter, Alicia, was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I signed up to receive emails and since my birthday is soon, I was able to choose one of three products to take home. I asked about having a makeover done and was given a form listing their services. Do NOT book here for make-up if you have an important event. This store has the most extreme nonchalant unprofessionalism, in management and in staff, that I have ever experienced. A lack of honesty, and a stark lack of aesthetic skill as well. I'm so disappointed in my experience here. Beyond. I called on Friday, 2/7/25 to see if they had any openings for Sunday earlier than 11:45AM, as I had a FIRM film festival engagement at 12:45PM. I spoke to a gentleman (very polite he was by the way, but that's where the professionalism for this store ends) who told me he would speak to a manager and call me back to see if there was any earlier opening. A woman manager called me back and told me that my appointment would be at 11:30AM on 2/9/25 with Tatianna. A few moments later, I received an email confirmation for my appointment on 2/9/25, but it said 11:45AM. I called the store back and spoke to the manager and asked if that was an error. She said that my appointment was for 11:30AM, but that the system just placed it into the 11:45AM slot. I told them that I had a hard commitment at 12:45P, so I really wanted to make sure that my appointment was at 11:30AM. She told me not to worry and that she has made a note of it. I show up at 11:22AM, today, 2/9/25 and there is one make up artist (who I later learned was Tatianna), working on a client. I notified someone else on the floor that I was there for my 11:30 appt. The young lady called someone on her earpiece, then notified me that the make-up artist was coming to clean up the station and get ready for me. A few more minutes pass by, and the make-up artist who was supposed to be assigned to me, Tatianna (I didn't know this was her just yet), was doing the customer's eyesbrows (remember this, the eyebrows) and she was leisurely chatting to the client, and I do mean leisurely, about just graduating high school and transferring credits, and such. 11:3AM rolls around. I check in with a young lady with pink jewels on the side of each eye, I believe she said her name was Naeli. I asked her if I would be started on time and she responds "It's only been three minutes". So now, they are being dismissive of client's time. If they were to clock in 3 minutes late, or the store opened 3 minutes late, is it still "only"? You don't get to decide how many minutes are dismissive of a customer with an appointment that triple checked the time. Then, she reveals that the make-up artist leisurely chatting is Tatianna. So, the earlier employee had lied to me about someone just clocking in to service me. A bad lie at that, as there was no other make-up artist there working; and Tatianna, whom I was told would be doing my face, was there the entire time. Then Naeli, dismissively, said not one, not two, but five times, when I explained how much planning I did on my part, "Well things happen". I don't know who hires these girls, but there needs to be an overhaul. Things happen? Ok. On to the actual service.... My appointment gets starts 20 minutes late, and Tatianna asks me if I had any inspiration for a look. I show her. She works on my face, and when 12:20PM comes, she says "I just have to do your lips and we're done". She hadn't touched my eyebrows, so I ask, "No eyebrows?" And she says "Oh!"... Oh? How does a make-up artist forget to do eyebrows? Especially after spending time making sure to get the last clients brows just right. Was she even looking at me? I felt incredibly unseen by then. Literally. But it got worse... So she gives them a whisk, a light one, and they look barely touched when she's done. Not even a shape to them. I politely showed her the inspiration picture again, and aside from my face looking nothing like the make-up I showed her, not even in the same color family (the picture I showed her had gold tones and my face/eyes were silvery gray), but she didn't even try to get my eyebrows even close. I looked at her face, which was done up quite nicely, *including her eyebrows*, and was very very confused about why she wasn't even trying. And I even complimented her eyebrows and asked what it would take to get mine somewhat close to hers; to which she said, "I would just need more time". WHICH IS WHY I BOOKED MY APPOINTMENT AT 11:30 IN THE FIRST PLACE. I disliked my make-up so much. It looks nothing like the picture, and I ended up sitting there and trying to quickly fill in my brows on my own. I also missed my portrait appointment slot. What a big day today is, and how Sephora just truly ruined my planned portrait and a special appearance floors me. (I was told the manager's name is Kristin. But then Naeli with the pink eye jewels told me she was the manager.) Sephora, please get this team together at this location. read more

Went in and nothing I needed was stocked and I couldn't find a employee (it was busy to be fair). So I went under the displays in the drawers. Honestly never has anyone cared that I did this. It's annoying because just stock the items they are obviously here. Some rude employee was annoyed I was looking. -put up signs if you can't look in the drawers (ulta let's me!) -get nicer customer service and workers who actually stock the floor! Overall I mean Sephora is supposed to be higher end so pretty disappointed. read more

I walked in with one of my eyelashes damn near hanging off and the manager was like "Girrrrrrrrrrrl let me get you some help with that." It looked like my eyelash lost a fight... So I got help from a nice little lady who got my eyelash put back on. Thank you to the manager & lady both. It's a bit crowded here all the time and there seems to be no rhyme/reason to the layout. Rude and racist employees, who only acknowledge white upper class customers, but that seems to be the norm in Santa Barbara. I always get anxiety when I come to this store because all of the employees are rude and refuse to acknowledge customers and they just hang out in groups and gossip. Today I went in, and all of the employees walked right past me refusing to acknowledge me, but they were very selective with who they did help. No one greeted me when I walked into Sephora, but that's just normal around Santa Barbara, if you look Asian, since these salespeople usually have no problem greeting the non-POC. (If it's a day that they do bother, of course.) I was at Sephora at around 1PM today, checking out the new Fenty Beauty collection. No one bothered to ask if I needed help for the time I was there. However, I did have a makeup artist hover over me while I was selecting some products to purchase. She even followed me to the checkout line to make sure I wasn't shoplifting. Look here, I know that I am funny looking and dress 'urban', in comparison to the 'beachy/casual/tourist' vibes in this town. However, there's no need for that disrespect, even if I am not your ideal Sephora customer. Makeup, beauty, and fair customer service should be for everyone, not just for discriminately, selected individuals who are deemed worthy of acknowledgement and respect by these Sephora employees. That makeup artist could have assisted me (and cleverly made sure that I wasn't shoplifting), instead of being glaringly obvious with her 'monitoring'. This experience deters me from visiting this Sephora in the future---but I'll make one last stop to return my past purchases. (I'm holding on to my new Rihanna makeup tho' ) read more

I came to this Sephora this past weekend. It wasn't too busy, but the employees at the door never greeted me. This is fine but usually at the Sephoras that I have been to, the employees are really friendly & nice & greet customers as soon as they come in. I was in need of a moisturizer & wanted some foundation samples as well. I looked around to see if anyone could help me, but they all were preoccupied. After walking around the store for 15 minutes, I returned to near the front of the store, where the two employees were still having a conversation with each other. I kindly interrupted their conversation & asked if one of them could help me with a color match. I tried to make conversation with her as she was gathering my samples, but she didn't seem like she was in a good mood. I paid for my moisturizer at the register & walked out...only to realize the next day that I got charged twice for my item. It was partially my fault for not looking at the receipt before leaving, but I just didn't like the atmosphere so I wanted to leave as quickly as possible. Now, I have to go through the hassle of emailing sephora customer service to have the duplicate charge taken care of because the employees said that the store doesn't personally take care of it. All in all, I don't think I'll be returning to this sephora. I did not feel welcome & on top of that, I now have to deal with the duplicate charge read more

This is the worst Sephora experience I've had. The store is a disaster, nothing is in the right place, the samples are gross, they are out of a lot of products and it just seemed dirty and messy. Employees were asking me if I needed help because I was searching through drawers and rummaging through misplaced product, but the employees weren't any more successful than I was at searching for things so I asked if I could order what I needed online at the store and have it shipped to me. Great location and helpful staff. It was my birthday yesterday and my brother and I shopped here for a birthday present. I picked out the Prime Time Foundation Primer by BareMinerals and Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion, both easily found in a Sephora's Favorites display :) as we made our purchase, I asked the cashier if there were anything I receive as a beauty insider member with a recent birthday and she added to our purchase a small bottle of Philosophy shampoo, shower gel & bubble bath combo in vanilla birthday cake scent for free. On top of that, she suggested I can pick out one of the small gifts for racking up points and I picked the StriVectin-SH sunscreen.
