Came here a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I like that it is close to home, and the variety of products they have. Unfortunately, the customer service was not up to par. I asked to be matched to a particular foundation line. Generally when I go to get matched at any other place, they do the full face, to ensure the quality of the match. Here, the associate dabbed some on my cheek at the display, said it looked fine, and sent me on my way. The friend I was with, who comes to this location a lot, noted that she had never seen anything like that at a makeup counter/cosmetics store before. I asked for another associate to help me, and they sent me to the same woman, who asked, "didn't I just match you?" I explained to her that I wanted to see it on my whole face to really determine if I wanted it or not. She ended up doing it and it looked great. I even bought the particular brush she used. I wish she had done that in the first place. After that, we went to the skincare section, where the associate there followed us around uncomfortably. We don't need to steal from you, Sephora, nor did we want to. I'll probably be back, just because of proximity. read more

I am so disappointed in this store. Great products and location. Service is the worst! Every time I go on there not one person will ask if I need any help. Most of the time the employees are talking amongst themselves! Was there yesterday to purchase a few fall goodies. Again no one offered to help or even said hello. Staff is rude, unprofessional, and unwilling to help! I went in looking for a concealer, specifically the Tarte Shape Tape I've seen used in many YouTube makeup videos. I was not aware this was a product exclusive to Ulta only until a rep at Sephora advised me of this. At this point she was unwilling to help me find a comparable concealer and said there was only one person working in "color" this morning and she was busy but I could wait to be assisted. Im not sure why she was even there if she was not capable of assisting me, or maybe she just didnt't wish to and for that reason I will not return. read more

Same shit happened to me..and I don't get it. Sure I have some appearance issue snow WHICH IS WHY I WENT IN, but i was in a business suit, clearlyl am not poor and people gave me a dirty eye meanwhile they are all standing around talking to little teenagers with their daddies there to flip the bill. I was EXTREMELY PISSED when i left there - they never have an entire set of what I need there - been in many times and it's the same snooty aura....i end up leaving with half of what i need and then have to tget the rest elsewhere and its always WRONG because the colors in the store LIGHTING are not what they appear to be once you leave. I hate sephora which is a shame because i work in that center and its convenient....pretty rude and interestin gconsiderin gi assur eyou my salary double or triple or more what their snooty MANAGER is earning. I am a longtime Sephora fanatic-love the stores I shop in (other stores, that is). This is the worse store I've ever been to, and I think that I will drive further away rather than come back to Reston. I don't even know where to begin. Here goes: No one looks at you when you walk in, and no, they are not helping other customers. I felt like I was walking down a high school hallway where the girls in their cliques are too busy to acknowledge you. By the way, I'm old enough to be their mother, therefore, that seemed to warrant another reason to ignore me..Sephora should keep in mind the age groups that buy their pricier items. I was looking for cover-up and foundation, circling the store, deciding on my own which brand to choose, when FINALLY 10-15 minutes later, the one older associate asked me if I was 'doing ok' I told her what I was looking for and she said she'd 'locate' a makeup artist..hmmm just find the cluster of 20yr olds by the mirrors. When the artist approached me, there was a look of disgruntlement, either because she had to help a lady who was her mom's age or she had to actually work. Ultimately she was helpful in her makeup choices but really awful in her vibes. I have been to Sephora in many states and have never had this experience. This is the first review I've ever written which tells you something about how this experience made me feel. Manager take note: do an overhaul of your staff because judging from other reviews, I'm not alone in this. read more

so I went to Sephora to get some bronzer from the MILK brand- I was fortunate to be helped by a MILK representative named ANITA. She was so incredibly helpful knowledgeable she was not at all aggressive in the sales. Milk has proven to be an incredible brand for me ( I realize now the product is outstanding and does not need the push)... This is such a nice clean store, well stocked with many lines, as opposed to the filthy, small, overcrowded and disgusting store inside JC Penneys at the Dulles Town Center. You couldn't pay me to enter that place ever again. The Reston store has lots of salespeople, but they stand around strategically placed just watching everyone like security guards. You definitely feel like you are being watched every second. And multiple people will come up and ask if they can help you. I just kind of like to feel anonymous while I am shopping, but you can't feel that way here. My experience was just the opposite of the reviewer below. EVERYONE wants to help you. They have nice lighted makeup mirrors (they need more though) and well stocked makeup cleanup items like tissues, makeup remover etc which is awesome for after you try something on yourself. They need someplace for hubby or those who can't stand long to sit on though! This would let us ladies shop longer! Something to sit on in the vestibule would even be good for those who have to wait and cannot handle the smell of fragrances etc. Overall, nice store that I wish I was closer to! read more

Love Sephora in general, but like most of the other reviews here, I have to say the customer service at this location is very poor. Good luck getting one of their associates to stop their personal conversations to assist you. I was in there today because I am in serious need of new make-up but I ended up grabbing the essentials and getting out because, as usual, it was incredibly frustrating to find good help. There are a few friendly associates there but for the most part, they seem lazy, self-absorbed and annoyed by the presence of customers. read more

This is an excellent Sephora. I'm just getting into makeup (starting from the bottom, here...) and Katey (I hope I'm not spelling it wrong!) was super helpful both times-first with finding the perfect foundation for my skin tone (I've been getting compliments since) and a great lip liner. Horrible customer service! I went there to buy foundation and concealer. I asked a lady for help with picking up the right color. She then put a bunch of other stuff on my face like moisturizer, bronzer, blush, etc. I dont know much about make up, thought I looked good so bought all of the stuff ( about $400). I asked them repeatedly about return policy and they assured me there will not be any problem returning any of the stuff. "We are pretty lenient about return, just dont bring the bottles half empty ", they said. After I went home I tried to use the make up items myself and realized it was too much for me, all I needed was the foundation and concealer. So just after two weeks (I only used the makeup once) I went back to return all the other stuff and never in my life did I feel so humiliated! I was asked 3 times by 3 different associates why I was returning. They kept me standing there for 30 mins and kept on whispering among themselves "she is return almost everything". One of them was particularly rude, she said to me " you got a free makeover, for that at least you have to make a $50 purchase". WTF! I never asked for a make over, THEY decided to help me pick up all those stuff ! Also, the foundation and the concealer cost more than $70. Then when I asked is there a problem she gave me attitude, she seemed annoyed and said that she wasn't judging me, she was just curious why I was returning! How many times do I have to explain my reason for return? I did not expect such horrible customer service from a stor like Sephora. I am never going back there again. Sephora, please, when you help a customer pick up makeup, let them know that they will be charged for the help and also chnage your return policy, make it something like " you can only return X number of products, if more than that please be warned that you will be judged and humiliated". read more

Love the staff! Although nobody initially approached me to greet me or ask if I needed help, I was able to find someone to color match me. I was so impressed with the service that I decided to bring my sister in the next day as well. I had Kayleigh and my sister had Lucy. Two wonderful ladies that were able to find us exactly what we needed; we have been to multiple Sephora locations and this is by far the best one! We will most definitely be coming back here. I was visiting friends and just needed an eyeliner. Total between the 3 of us we spent over $250. The workers were very friendly and helpful. I was greeted several times while we were there. Even had my skin tone checked to have a foundation match. Only downside would be after I had the foundation match, there wasn't a Sephora brand foundation that matched...closest to it was $45 dollars. But lucky for me the worker helped me match to their $20 cover up with no questions asked! read more

I like this store because of their employees. Always helpful, friendly, and knowledgable! They also have a great return policy (but that comes from the company, not the store). I only wish they had more or larger mirrors around the store. Also, I just remembered that they will give you a sample of the skincare products if you ask. read more

third sephora with mind-numbing high volume non-music that you cannot shop to, the salespeople cannot even hear you at register when you give them phone no to look up VIP number, they admit they hate the music and volume as well and laugh...??? how is this even pleasant to look at products for yourself or gifts. so many good radio stations and music out there that it is incredible that they pick they most offensive and loud music as possible. read more

I was EXTREMELY disappointed in my last visit to this Sephora. Earlier in the day, I called to confirm store hours because it was New Years Day and was told they are open until 8 PM. Knowing that, my sisters and I arrived at 6:50. As soon as we walked in, a worker approaches us and in a very sassy/rude tone told us they were closing and everything HAD to be shut down by 7 PM, including their registers and said we had to know what we were looking for and asked what we specifically needed before we told her we didn't need her help. We had 10 minutes left, but we felt pressured by them putting their coats on and looking at us. Customers who came at 6:58 were told that they were closed and weren't allowed in. Towards the end, we heard two employees complaining about how they had to be there on New Years and that no where else is open. It was extremely awkward and unprofessional. I work in retail, I understand working on holidays stinks, but I would NEVER act the way these employees did. It's safe to say I will never return to this Sephora location. read more

WOW. The worst customer service EVER. No one asks you if you need help looking for anything. I looked around for about 5 minutes until I found my way to the waterproof liners that I got from a location in Texas the last time ( pleasant experience). SO- I loved them and wanted more. Thought this was a good location since its close to work. I managed to find this lady wandering around the store and asked her if I could see the colors in natural light. She responded with " you can't just walk out the door with these!!! These are store products." Talking to me like I was a thief and she was better than me coz she works at Sephora ( ha) . I told her that's why I am asking YOU and not just walking out with them. Anyway- I walked out but would've spent more time there talking to the manager about teaching the employees to not be rude and mean & treat customers with respect if I had the time. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Needless to say-NEVER going back in. I'm sure I can get better customer service and the same product elsewhere. read more

This location is unfortunately one of the worst in northern VA with regards to customer service. The staff at the Tysons location is much better! The sales girl that helped me at this Reston store was very rude and acted like she did not like her job, and did not like working with customers. I asked her to colormatch a concealer for me - she did not check it against my skin and just put a sample in a container and handed it to me, assuring me it was correct. Then refused to give me the sample of another one that I wanted to try. Was very rude and acted like she had better things to do than working at a makeup store. When I tried on the one sample she gave me - it was completely wrong for my skin. I went to another location with nicer staff and was colormatched to the proper color. The reston salesgirl was unfriendly and rude; complete opposite of how I am treated at other locations! read more
