I don't make it over to the huge Sephora all that often, but had the chance tonight when we were in the area, killing time before a dinner reservation. I mostly went into the store because my best friend was looking to replenish her favorite sparkly Sephora brand lipstick; I'd had no intention of making any of my own purchases, but then I remembered there was a type of product I was interested in learning more about. I found a couple of employees chatting back in perfume, and approached a girl named Caitlyn for assistance. I remember her name because I was impressed she had asked me my name and then introduced herself to me. She wanted to find someone knowledgeable about the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, and she did. Not even a minute later, a new sales associate was there to give me details about the product. I wish I knew her name, because she was fantastic. Although she herself does not have the hair type for the product, she told me that it is a popular product and many women ask for it. Since I do have a natural wave to my hair, she said it would accentuate that wave as well as add volume and body to it. I'd left my house in a rush, and had semi-damp hair at the time we arrived at the mall. Even better, there was a tester bottle of the sea spray, and the sales associate spent quite a bit of time with me as we experimented with spraying and shaping my hair. She even volunteered to spray and scrunch my hair for me! I left with my own bottle just a few minutes after testing the product. I was super impressed with the customer service experience; couldn't have asked for a better visit, and I love the way my hair turned out. I'll definitely be using all the great advice I was given this afternoon. read more

Everyone was helpful and knowledgeable. My favorite was the woman who was helping me with moisturizers: she kept showing me anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, and anti-sunspot creams and then quickly blurted "WHICH YOU DON'T HAVE OF COURSE!" Well, I do a little but I appreciate her attempts to be helpful without offending. I am giving 4 out of 5 because some of the displays are confusing with samples mislabeled and in the wrong place. Oh and because I feel guilty that I parted with so much of my money here. But I got a LOT for it at least. read more

Every time I come here the customer service is complete crap. Every time I need to check out or I need help, I always have to cut off their teenage talking-crap conversations for them to help me. I'm so tired of it. This Sephora' is unfortunately the closest one to my house or else I've never shop here again. I have been going to this Sephora since moved to Utah. My recently shopping experience was not satisfied. This Sephora started to hire a lot of guys, I have no problem with that, the problem is these guys usually have a careless attitude and not very professional, feels like all they like to work there is to show off and look good. My worst experience today was when I tried to talk with a sales girl who was standing next to the door to get a GIRL to help me get some eye makeup, she was quite confused why I need a GIRL to do it, so she still sent a guy to help me. I just want to say we girls do makeup bit different than boys and it's personal preference to talk with girls about makeup. Came here to do a makeover for my birthday and I loved what they did so much I bought almost all the product (which was steep but, again, it was my birthday) so I definitely cleared the $50 makeover fee-that-isn't-a-fee (they'll let you buy a gift card to use later too if you can't find a product you want, which is hilarious because how could you not?). Anyway I spoke to them about how my skin has been acting up since I switched from birth control to an IUD and their skin guy came over and was an absolute doll. He really took the time to listen to my concerns and found the best products to address them and I've noticed a big difference since starting my new skincare regimen. The girl who did my makeup was fabulous and definitely didn't push any of the products (she even tried to get me to put some of them back before checking out haha). All in all it was a great experience and I really would suggest making an appointment online to treat yourself!!! I went to dinner after feeling fabulous. read more

I went in to pick up a certain product today. And when I didn't see it on the sales floor, I thought about asking for some help. But it took me about 5 minutes to find someone who was willing to help customers. About 4 girls were hanging out at the registers talking (and about 10 customers checking out makeup who weren't even acknowledged). I asked one about a certain brand that I didn't see. She said we were out and told me about ordering it in store and shipping to my house. So I picked out a different band. When i went to check out, a woman Brandy helped me. She was nice, but as soon as she saw another employee leaving, she called her over (while ringing me up) and started to talk about their weekend plans they had. It was really unprofessional. After years and years of waiting, Salt lake city finally has a brick and mortar Sephora aside from the other location inside a dept. store. Went in today, and I think the sales associates are still learning the ropes from what I could tell. While I will stick to the local stores (Apothica and Splendor) for brands I know and love, like NARS,Smashbox and Bliss- Sephora carries brands like YSL and Korres that are hard to come by here. Just wondering why it took the LVMH group so long to get it together!! read more

I'm greeted a thousand times when I walk in and hounded when I don't want to be but can't find help when I actually need it. They act rude and condescending. They're rude to a friend of mine when she comes in lately as well. Need a serious attitude adjustment and a crash course in workplace professionalism. read more

I absolutely love this location and their customer service. I called in about an exchange and was directed to a MUA who helped me find a brand that matched my darker skin tone so the contour kit I bought was too light. I have had a good experience at every Sephora I've been in across the country except for this one. I came in to treat myself on my birthday and was browsing the NARS lipstick. I picked a shade and opened the box to make sure it was perfect before I purchased it (I didn't want to pay for a $32 lipstick to go home with a damaged product or the wrong shade). An employee was watching me and then snuck up behind me and asked in a passive aggressive and sarcastic tone "is that yours?" of course it isn't --yet! I was appalled that she thought I was stealing for checking a lipstick before I purchased it. I was not testing it (I use the testers like other civilized people) or removing the packaging, just checking it before I bought it (because the cashiers have never done that for me). I told the cashier what had happened to me and she nodded her head and said in a VERY fake tone "im sorry that happened to you" and then told me the total. Imagine the disappointment to move here and then realize there is none in the entire state, and later the excitement when receiving an email about a store opening in SLC area! Went there on opening day and you bet it was crowded. Tried hard to look for the Amazing Concealers and since that's just on a portion of a shelf, it was hard to find. But regardless of how busy it was, one of the girls still helped me locate the shelf as well as helping me with picking the right color. Selection is good - at least I found all the things I was looking for. So if you're a fan of Sephora - treasure this one and only store in Utah. read more

I have got to give it to Katie (the one with the minion on her name tag) she has been my saving grace. But first, even if they are crazy busy, you still get welcomed. You still are asked if you need help. I haven't been into an actual Sephora in over a year. I don't live close to one. I came in looking for a specific foundation but they were out, it's hot on the market right now so I'm not angry. But I also was curious about skincare. Ever since I moved to Utah, my face has taken a turn for the worst. It seems like I've tried ever drug store cleanser and I'm at the end. So I stopped Katie for some help. After some questions, she presented me with a cleanser and a moisturizer. She was so pleasant to talk to. She didn't force me into buying anything and gave me samples to take home. A couple days later, I'm still thinking of her amazing customer service and the amazing products she suggested. I just put in an order. I never felt so confident in buying products and this is all because she took the time to help me out. I will travel over and over again to get help from Katie and any of her team members! I feel like a kid in a candy store here. There is every kind of makeup, shampoo, face products, and perfumes. The staff is very friendly and they will do a free makeup application with a $50 gift card purchase. I personally adore the makeup artist Zack. He can really find great products for my face and he is not pushy at all. It is much more lighthearted here than other places (read: snooty Nordstrom sales people). Go...enjoy..buy! read more

I enjoy and dread trips to Sephora. The selection is amazing, and they have a ton of cool stuff that you wouldn't expect. I dread trips here because anyone I go with will get distracted and stay here for hours looking at the products. I know what I want when I go in, I buy it, and then I get out of there as fast as possible! All of the workers that I have talked to are super nice, and will give you a sample of anything that you ask for. They will show you every product that would go well with your features, and give you advice on what you should avoid. They carry higher end makeup lines, and those don't disappoint. Some of those eye shadows have some hilarious names (browse the eyeshadow section and you'll see what I mean). I've never walked out of here empty handed! read more

I am a product junkie and being a VIB Rouge member, I spend a lot of money at Sephora! I really like this location. I come to Utah a lot from Wyoming and I like coming in here while my husband is across the way getting a shave at The Art of Shaving. I like to browse the products and shop at my own leisure and the staff here have always been helpful but not overly eager. I also love Sephora because they sell the Kate Somerville line of products which is the only line I've found that works on my acne and helps fight the signs of aging. They also sell The Healthy Deodorant which I cannot live without because it is the only one that doesn't give me weird bumps in my armpits. Yes, they can be a bit pricey, but if you find a product you love and are true to, you can't beat it. They are always good about giving out samples too which is great. read more

Ok first off let me say I had the BEST experience from an employee who I was helped with from the downtown store but works at the Murray location so I had to give credits to Fashion Place Sephora for their amazing & talented employee Jackie! I stumbled across the employee survey card she gave me & thought, why not write a review about how much of amazing & talented makeup artist she is. First off, let me say her makeup is on FLEEK in person. Second off, she's the type of makeup artist who can actually do other people's makeup which shocked me because everyone is apparently a self taught makeup artist because of social media! Anyways, I asked her for a mini makeover & I had false lashes applied already, & asked her for glam with a nice wing liner. Not only did she achieve this look with my lashes applied, but she made me question my ability to ever do my makeup that BEAT by myself! She taught me step by step, & showed me tips & tricks on how she blends her own eyeshadow. She used affordable products on me which was a plus because most employees in the past tried to bribe me into buying expensive products like Dior! I found her on Facebook & Instagram and pictures do no justice for this beautiful talented young lady! Did I mention she's only 19?! Thank you so much Jackie for your amazing service! I recommended all my friends to get their makeup done by you, so be prepared to run into 500 different girls soon ;) haha! 5 stars for amazing client service & an amazing artist! Keep going girl! I'm so upset with the service here!! I went in my first time and I wanted to have someone help me with my eyebrows that I was having trouble doing. I set down in the chair and the girl was so rude. The next time I went in I wanted to have my foundation color found out. I went in really wanting to get milk makeup because I had herd good reviews. The girl help out well and answered all my questions. When she was done she went to go grab it for me on the shelf. I bought the product and everything was fine. A couple days later I had left it in its clear packaging because I didn't want to get it dirty or anything. I had been looking at it and I realized that the makeup that she handed me had a test sticker on it! That means it had already been tested and used on other people!! I really am not happy with the workers hear. It seems like they don't have a passion for makeup and are just there to get paid. read more
