It is all displayed so attractively, and you can tell a great deal of thought is put into curating a collection of current, stylish, and high quality products. Employees are adorable and nothing but friendly and helpful. Dressing rooms are pleasant and large. Follow their Instagram account for notices of sales, as well as new items, features on local businesses, and just lots of pretty pictures to gaze at longingly. Perhaps the cashier said that when I bought it? Doubtful given he struggled with the cash register and could only sent a text receipt. The return attempt was an unfriendly customer experience - especially at Christmas time. Shame on me for not pressing for clarification at point of sale - shame on them for having a lame return policy. Won't be back and will warn all I can to do the same. Caveat emptor!!!

You make your way back to the store and there's more stuff to look at. I did make it to one of the back corners that had more clothes. I did find a pair of overalls that really caught my eye. They are very cute and floral but very expensive. I did notice a few sale tracks but of course I didn't find anything on them. My husband knew I really liked the overalls so he bought them for me. Honestly, I felt shoppers guilt for my husband cause of how pricy they were. They were just fabric overalls that were ankle length. 50 bucks..... I have bought Gap denim overalls at that price but 50 for denim doesn't seem unreasonable. The lady that rung us up was nice. She folded my overalls, bagged them and handed them to me in a bag. Overall it was a neat store but very overpriced. If you are willing to spend the extra bucks for their products then go for it! I know that no one else in town will have the same overalls as me which is cool. But they were pricy and I probably wouldn't have gotten them if it came out of my own pocket. But I'm happy my sweet husband talked me into them.

Love this place. They have the most unusual and wonderful collection of odds and ends. The beard and haircut service is a nice experience. The oils, lotions, and creams they use to cut your hair smell so good. I always feel so dapper leaving the shop. Their candles are particularly good if you like candles. read more

Recently moved from Pierpont, it's safe to say that 900 S has been a-changing when a store like Mineral & Matter shows up. It has that art and artisan vibe, and brings a real maker vibe to this up-and-coming part of Central City. As I understand it, the owner is the jewelry crafter, and that's who was there when I popped in the other night. She was happily laboring away at her table and greeted me kindly, but kept to her jewelry making while I perused the store. I do like the designs, which keep things simple, sharp, and beautiful in their shapes. The owner has an eye for shapes, lines, and even... architecture, let's say? She doesn't rely on exotic stones or gaudy stacks to tell her story, instead building necklaces, earrings, and the like with simple minerals and well thought out shapes. I'm always drawn to good cards, and they have a small but wonderful assortment on the corner wall. Over the summer I haven't sent many good cards, and this assortment was wonderful and the only complaint is that it's too small--I love cards with no reason, and though the happy birthday ones are nice and unique, I want even more designs and messages! In the end, it's a small shop but I still wish I would have had more time to really hold, turn over, see, and touch more items here. Due to the small size, everything is so well curated that each item deserves attention.

Today was the second time I've had my hair cut by Kolby at The Haircutter and it continues to be a no-fuss experience. He listens to what I want and has me in and out of the chair in about 15 minutes. And the cut is exactly what I want with a nice short taper over the ears and on the back of the neck. That and the men's haircuts are only $18...and I'm out of there for $25 with a tip. My only regret is that this shop doesn't do shaving cream straight-edge shaves as my previous barber did right up until he retired. Bummer. She asked what I wanted I just said to have it cleaned up. There was no washing or wetting of any kind. To say it was butchered is an understatement. It even looked hacked in a ponytail which I wasn't aware was even possible. I spent 3 times as much going somewhere else to have it fixed. 6 inches and a hundred dollars later I'd say I learned a very valuable lesson.
