I'm a Sephora VIB Rouge member and usually love this store (there skincare reps are super awesome and helpful), but unfortunately the store missed the mark on service today. I came in at 10:30am and there were at last 3 staff there and hardly any customers if any. I was in search of stocking up on several different items and did actually need help and input on choosing an under eye concealer. I was in the store for an hour, and not once greeted or offered help. I kept looking around to make eye contact with one of the staff, but that didn't work. They were at certain points occupied helping others, but there were definitely times that they were available and even passed by me. I'm not hard to miss - I have bright pink hair lol. The person at the counter even looked over at me but then proceeded to simply straighten items on the shelf near the counter (there were no people to ring up). When I actually went to pay, she asked me if I was helped and I told her no, and thought it was strange and would've liked help. She apologized and also became even nicer when I pulled out my rouge card. On top of that, I got a bday gift and rouge renewal gift at the time of checkout. I don't know if maybe rolling in my workout clothes and no makeup had anything to do with it, but it was a bummer that I wasn't once greeted or offered help. I actually would've appreciated it that time, especially since it was pretty quiet in there. Who doesn't love Sephora? This is the beauty haven. I could spend hours in this store reading the labels of each product. There is a wider selection than Ulta and they have NARS. I kind of don't like this Sephora (I mean, they are all horribly overpriced) but that isn't my issue. I was browsing in this location yesterday and walked to the back where I was looking at the skin care stuff. I felt like one of the sales associates thought that I was attempting to steal things by the way that she kept "checking" on me. I don't want your goshdarn 11 dollar mini hairspray, ok?Another time I came here, the person ringing me up was too busy on the phone to even look up at me, so I left. One star for the great selection of high quality products but i won't be returning here unless i absolutely have to. I had one bad experience where i was totally ignored, makeup testers were almost gone, and the makeup removers were out. When i gave it a second try, i had better service. I think the girls last time were just having a bad day? By better i dont mean great, just not ignored and saleslady recommended some products. It has been 9 months since my last visit and last review to this store. I am very sad to say that nothing has changed or improved. My mother and I went in yesterday both looking for brow products. We were not greeted or welcomed by anyone. We browsed the isles for a good 15 mins before my mom went to the back of the store and found an employee. I forgot the woman's name. But once we had her she was somewhat friendly. But she did not seem knowledgable about the products we were looking for. I had to login to my moms sephora account on my sephora app and look through her past purchases to find the color and product she was looking for. The employee did not sit either of us at the beauty studio to try the products or give us any recommendations. It's like the employees don't want to work, they just want to stand around or talk amongst themselves. We ended up leaving and going to the JCP Sephora downstairs where we were treated amazingly. The young woman we worked with Erika, was so fabulous! So friendly, so helpful, we just loved her. She truly knew the meaning of customer service. Looks like I'll be shopping at the JCP Sephoras from now on. read more

I was greeted the moment I walked in and shortly after, while browsing the nail polish section, Nick came over to see if I needed assistance. Many people go to Ulta for their beauty needs, and I mean sure it carries many household brands like maybelline and such, but if you really want someone to help you at every step of your purchase and hygenically try out products, Sephora is the place for you!! -I first went to Sephora like six years ago and since then, Ive been in love with it!! I used to go all the way to the Brea Mall from Pomona just to go to Sephora, but almost a year ago, Sephora opened up in the Montclair plaza. I was super excited!!! -Everyone here is super friendly and helpful. They have skin care experts, make up artists, people to advise you as to what kind of make up to use for your skin type, etc -They have everything you need! from lipgloss to hair straightners, to tooth whitening kits. -Sephora is always great but I really feel bad for this business because of the area. They have a high rate of shrinkage (theft) they have to replace the samples atleast once a week and that is so messed up! I mean come on people, Sephora provides superb customer service, even giving you the ability to try everything out before you buy it and people still steal from them. Its really sad. -that note aside, if you havent heard of or gone to sephora, I suggest you do. They're return policy is great, they'll return items even if you used them and there is no expiration on the receipts. -This is one of my most favorite places to spend some time at..haha lame but I just love it, guess that's what happens when you're a girly girl like me :-D read more

The customer service here sucks! I've been a loyal customer for years and have spent a lot of money at Sephora. When I came to exchange something I received as a gift without a receipt I was turned away by a manager in training and the operations manager. The products were not opened and they were all current products they were selling. I was not asking for cash back all I wanted was a store credit, that's reasonable. I won't be returning to this location again and I'm telling everyone I know not to shop at this Sephora. I Wish there was a better word then "Great" let me tell you about my experience!! as soon as i walked in i was greeted and immediately taken care! everything was very clean and organized! So i have darker complexation and was looking for a good foundation and concealer . PILAR helped me and man she knew it all for me!! She was amazing with the recommendations and the tips and the skin care!! She had me set before i walked out that door i am so thankful for her cause she recommended products that worked for her skin and what she was currently using and it wasn't just one brand of everything which i liked!! Beauty stores are often a hit-or-miss when it comes to service. I was blown away by the great service I had at this Sephora! I was mainly helped by Lindsey (I came in about two weeks ago) I came in looking for a dupe for one color in the Urban Decay Electric Palette because I didn't want to buy the whole thing. When I asked Lindsey if they had any similar colors I thought she'd disappear for a few minutes then come back and say, "No there's nothing like it. You should probably just buy the whole $50 palette." which has happened to me at other stores. But she found me the perfect dupe for such an unusual color and was so nice the entire time. The cast members were all friendly and really enthusiastic about their makeup. At a lot of beauty stores judge you based on how you look and how much they think you're going to spend, but I didn't get that vibe at all from this store at the time I went in. I was totally dressed down in a t shirt and jeans and no makeup, but was treated respectfully by the employees. The cast members were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the products they sold. The only thing I have to say about this store is I ALWAYS spend more money than I intended. I tell myself, "I'm just going to get one thing," and walk out with $100 of products. She talked through everything she did so I could do it again. My friend and I went because we needed foundations but walked out with way more. We told Alta that we were going to a wedding that day and she pretty much did our base. We only went home to do eyes and lips and we were done! Anyway, Alta is absolutely wonderful. Came in with my daughter to try a new foundation and I have been to many sephora locations but I have to say this location's customer service was amazing didn't plan to buy and ended up buying a couple of things. Other locations hesitate to give samples or barely give you anything like last week at the brea location i asked for a sample and I can say they literally gave me like 3 drops of the product vs here they were all very nice willing to color match and gave my daughter 2 samples of different foundation to try so hopefully one works for her and will be returning to this location to buy.. I have come to this Sephora over the years to purchase gifts and even to have a makeover for my 21st birthday. I buy makeup about twice a year but in those two instances that I do end up in Sephora, I have never truly had a positive customer service experience. For some odd reason every time I walk into this Sephora I feel this uncomfortable feeling in my gut. I don't know what it is but it makes me hesitant to ask for assistance knowing already how the customer service is here. I asked to be matched for the Fenty Beauty Filt'r Foundation and although the associate assisted me with the match process, she seemed to be answering calls on her walkie talkie. I used to work at Victoria Secret and I understand that if you are paged on the walkie talkie you respond back but this associate kept talking on it like it was her cell phone. She matched me and just left to WANDER around the store. I get to the register and speak to the associate about ordering the Fenty Beauty Foundation (my shade 190 was sold out) and during the process of me ordering it, she made me feel uncomfortable. Like I was taking too long or wasting her time. It has been almost a week since I ordered my foundation and have still not received it in the mail ! (My Jeffree Star highlighter came in two days). Sephora really needs to train their associates on basic customer service skills and not let customers like me feel uncomfortable or unwanted. read more

I came into this Sephora location on Wednesday with my mom and sister. It was my second time coming into a makeup store for more than an hour. I have no knowledge on makeup whatsoever. My mom has knowledge but because she is unable to see anymore, she cannot do makeup on her own. I have to give credit where it's due!! I come shopping here about once a month with gf of course. Many people would think it's mostly a makeup store. True, although I am a guy, I love their colognes! Their staff is friendly and help you with a smile! Their return policy is very satisfactory, 60 Day return/refund even if you used the product and not satisfied NO QUESTIONS ASKED!! Or after 60 days exchange only/store credit. I like Sephora because they have professional staff on the floor, you won't deal with some high school student or kid that wants to just work there to make a buck. I'm an avid Sephora shopper and I almost never buy my cosmetics anywhere else, but when I went to this one in the Montclair Plaza, this was my first time being ignored throughout the entire store. I was looking for a lipstick and not one associate came to help me.
