I set my custom makeover appointment online at the Sephora website . It was really easy. I wanted to get a custom makeup and figured, why not do it on the day of my friend's wedding? Best idea ever! I just became a VIB and with it, I got a sweet free complimentary makeover and a 10% off coupon. Score!!! I showed up about 15 minutes early, lucky for me, the person greeting me was the one doing my makeup for the day. She was able to start early. Sweet deal. Monica was the one that did my makeup. She asked what I was looking for, the occasion, colors we were wearing, techniques I was interested in and what style I was looking for. Monica did an amazing job. My makeup was gorgeous and flawless. I felt like a million bucks. If you are looking to look amaze balls, this is your girl! She dolled me up and kept it natural. My eyeliner was blue, which totally matched my husband's shirt. The champagne in the shadow looked perfect with my dress. She taught me some contouring techniques. I absolutely loved the experience and will totally come again!!! Even though it was free, I bought some of the things she used on me and made a wish list for the future. The staff has an attitude, and in our case, the person who "helped" us was no meaningful help at all, rather tried to push one product after another on us. She took no time to learn what we were looking for, and frankly was rude in her approach. We took serious offense, told her what we thought and left. I have to agree with other reviewers. This IS one of the crappiest Sephora's. The one in JCP is way better and the staff is much friendlier and helpful. I couple of years ago I had gone here for a new lipstick and I asked the woman for help finding a shade for a job interview. I'm a redhead and sometimes have a hard time getting a good shade. I lean to dusty roses but wanted to see what a 'professional' thought. This woman started handing me reds (I told her it was a job interview....) and I told her reds wouldn't work for this occasion. She got annoyed and literally just started handing me colors. She gave zero feedback about the colors. It was honestly a really uncomfortable experience. This woman actually still works here and I pretty much run in the opposite direction if I ever go in there. read more

I've had really genuine, friendly people help me at this Sephora and I've had really uninterested, not friendly people help me at this Sephora. Aubri color patched me last weekend and she was awesome. She was so sweet and actually cared about me and my foundation!! I love Sephora for many reasons but I love that you can test things out there in the store and even get samples. It makes life so much easier!! read more

Came in here with my $100 gift card from Christmas, the ladies were so rude decided to spend my money elsewhere. Asked for help, and one of the girls held up a hand in my face and said wait while cutting me off. This is exactly why I hate shopping at these snooty stores. I have been shopping at this Sephora for about 6 years and still go there once or twice a month. Progressively the customer service has declined. Since I started shopping there, a woman named Christine or Christina, follows me around the store even if I am greeted by someone else and makes rude expressions and offers unneeded service after I clearly stated to the 5 other people that I do not need help. My boyfriend sometimes comes with me and has started to notice she follows me and waits around the corner where I am. I have spent near $5,000 with this company, I have never shoplifted, and it is not racial profiling...I was on the phone with my mom once and in mid sentence she stopped me to ask if I needed help finding a product. So rude, she couldn't wait till I finished my sentence at least? Most of the people who work there are friendly, especially some of the newer ones and a man with glasses, not sure of his name, is always nice. I went in there about 2 months ago because I was exchanging my MUFE mat velvet because it was the wrong shade. When I asked one girl if she could help with matching she seemed clueless. I had to suggest to her the 20 was my shade before she agreed...they have a shade finding machine less than 5 ft away and she didn't even offer that service. Once, a gentleman offered me the 500 point perk with a make over and I declined it because it is clear most of the employees, though nice, are quite clueless. I will continue to buy from Sephora because I love the products, however, I have started saving my trips for other malls or the Sephora in JCP that just openned. read more

I would give this place half a star if I could. Sorry Sephora Holyoke, you just lost a VIB. Every time I go here the employees aren't helpful. They don't offer to order anything that's not on the shelf, mind you I've found a few things they were "out of" that I've pulled from drawers underneath. Happened just today and rather than buy it there I went to Sephora JCP because I won't be insulted by their employees any more. I've asked for samples of things and they simply "don't have any." Ever. They never offer any of their rewards either. I'm often followed around the store because I go in makeup-free in sweat pants and sweatshirts, but they never offer to help me. Just because I look like I don't spend money here doesn't mean I don't. Learn how to treat your customers and do your job and maybe I'll come back. Not getting another dime from me. read more

WORST SEPHORA EVER. I've been in countless Sephora's - ones in Paris, NYC & smaller towns, but this is by far the worst. Horrible customer service, very disorganized and for the most part the staff is uneducated on the product. I'm a big spender/loyal customer here but I'm VERY disappointed with this location. From now on, I'll be heading to the new(ish) ulta down the road or going to the Sephora inside JCpenney. I have never had problems at either of these locations. This Sephora needs to step up its game somehow, probably by changing management Update: since my review I've gone a few more times (reluctantly), each time I've gone they've been SO condescending towards shoppers. I used to think this store was top notch. All it took was one visit to purchase one product to erase that impression. If I'm browsing I let them know and they leave me be, but if I know what I want they help me get what I need without trying to over sell me... Awesome awesome place! The service was AWFUL. I wasn't sure how the whole testers thing worked and I used a mascara by accident and I was very rudely spoken to to not do that and she took it out of my hand. Will NOT be going back there ever again. If I could I would give this place 0 stars. read more

This location needs some work on customer service. I spend a ton of money at Sephora mostly online because I dislike this store in particular. I do a lot of exchanging in that store for things that don't work for me or came broken and I get attitude every time. Most recently I bought items during the 20% off sale and my package was stolen off my porch. Customer service was great and re issued the package for me. When I got it in I returned a couple things that weren't working for me and wanted to exchange two of the items for different shades that would work better. The cashier couldn't figure out how to exchange the items so she called over a manager who said she needed to return everything and then do a different transaction to buy the different colors. I told her I don't want to do that because then I'm paying more money for the items and losing out on the 20% off I had. She rudely cut me off and said "right that's why I'll reapply the discount" as if I should have known she was going to do that. And then for the return she wanted to put it on store credit claiming I used PayPal to buy it online and I explained no I didn't it was a package that had been re issued from customer service. Please train your managers better. read more

I've been coming here from time to time since about 2009 and have always been satisfied with the knowledgeable employees and good quality selection, but had a frankly bizarre customer service experience here a few months back and have since been reluctant to return. It sounds like some other reviewers have also noticed similar problems lately so perhaps I'm not alone here, because this is the kind of review I would be skeptical of if I was reading it myself. I came into the store looking for a nicer-grade foundation that would match my notoriously difficult-to-match skin and asked for help from an employee. Rather than directing me to the foundation matching machine she took the opportunity to criticize my lack of makeup and told me i'd be better off buying a new face cleanser and toner instead of trying to cover up my (apparently totally unacceptable!) face with a foundation. I had to spend several minutes listening to this and attempting to explain to her that no, i really did want exactly what I told her that I came in for and could she please direct me to an employee who would help me. I was eventually successful and the employee she brought me to was helpful, giving me a sample and advice on navigating the website to find my shade. I suspect that the first employee I approached was the resident expert in cleansers or some such thing and was thus trying to persuade me to shop in her department but I was so offended that I haven't been back. When you come in, it might be worth asking the employee you first speak to who the store expert is in whichever type of makeup you are looking for right off the bat to avoid this sort of thing. read more
